Me i'm gonna have to go with V for Vendetta, i read it when i was real small in black and white in Warrior comic. I didn't understand it at the time, but when i read the color DC version years later it brought back all my memories of being fascinated by it when i was young!
Alan moore is a god!
But the film sucks!

I'll be the first of many to say this: Calvin & Hobbes. Bill Watterson brought so much life to his work that it stood out on the comics page. I still miss that comic so much.

I'm going to go with my heart and say Transmetropolitan, but The Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns are right up there.

Garfield is mine. Still is. The older ones when Jim Davis did 100% of it was great. The newer ones are ok. But not as good.
Also I love the original amazing spider-man comics. So good. The new ones suck ass

I'm going to have to agree with the Transmetropolitan ... I only got into it less than a year ago, but I'm completely and absolutely hooked! I wish it showed! I'm very tempted to get that tattoo that Spider has on his forehead in it, as a sort of geeky fandom reminder. (Except more than likely not on my forehead.)
The series however that first got me into comics and still holds a pretty proud place in my bookshelf: Asterix. Brilliant. :)

OK, seriously now. I don't read many print comics. Most of the comics I read are webcomics. One good one is Antihero for hire

I'm going to say Sandman, but it's a tough call. Right up there are Transmetropolitan, Watchmen, and my new addiction Fables. I'm also looking into reading some more Swamp Thing, because I read some of the Alan Moore run and it was amazing, I just need to read some more of it before I put it in my "favourite"s list.
I find it interesting that all my absolute favorite series' are all published by DC (who owns Vertigo, for those who don't pay attention to that sort of thing), but for the most part I prefer Marvel. I'm sure if Marvel had maintained a dedicated creator-owned line like DC has then they'd be doing much better in that regard. I guess it helps having Time/Warner front part of the bill.

Preacher, Dork Tower, Skydoll, and I really like Dogs of War and Next Men when they were still going.
I keep up with the old Marvel and DC heroes too, to make sure I know what's going on.

There's so many to choose from...
Loved the oldschool Superman comics when I was little. Same with Calvin and Hobbes. The comic which I probably have the most respect for is Watchmen, but my favorite on-going series is Invincible by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley.
