My favorite video game series is Bully because of it's plotlines, the ablility to explore cities and gain access vehicles such as a moped. Plus, you can do virtually anything, punch a cop, steal a bike, vandalize the school, look up girls skirts, tag a building, crush a car beyond reckognition, get into fights, give nerds wedgies, it's got it all!

I have two The Fallout series, even the crappy X-Box entry that was like Baldur's Gate, and the Prince of Persia series all the way back to the first one

I generally don't like series, but I keep buying the Elder Scrolls games in the futile hope that they'll eventually get it right.

Could care less about the sequel, but I'm sure I've mentioned before that Guardian Heroes is my favorite game, ever. The mix of RPG elements, multi-plane fighter, and brawler with a fairly decent difficulty level and a standard story mode that not only takes four hours to complete, but has branching paths and six different endings. Oh yeah, and you can unlock every spite in the game as a playable character in the six-player vs mode.

Dynasty Warriors. (Namely 3 and 5) It give me a huge thrill I can play it for days on end. Which is weird because normally I go for rpgs and such. Killing thousands of people and rushing a castle is awesome. I think the Chrono Series (Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross) is probably a close second.

Zelda.

But I'm kind of reaching my limit. I look forward to a new Zelda but hope that it tries something radically new.

Devil May Cry - A hot half demon guy gets to run around cutting up monsters and the story is (slowly) getting better with each installment. Could you ask for more?

And Zelda / Legacy of Kain are both pretty awesome too.

That reminds me of something I read about how the director is apparently obsessed with making the absolute best Zelda game he possibly can largely because he's tired of constantly being told that new games in the series aren't as good as Ocarina of Time, and he's a bit embarassed about his greatest work being about a decade old.

Metal Slug. It's with no doubt the best run-and-gun game in existance.
Dodonpachi, Progear, and bunch of shumps made by Cave. They really know how to serve bullets.
Border Down, Under Defeat, and bunch of other shumps made by G.Rev. 3D shump goodness with delicious explosions.
Half-Life series. Easy on the machine, interesting Combine architecture, and not to mention all the great mods for it. ...Okay, few great mods. The rest suck or have inactive multiplayer.

No classics for me, however. Nope. No Mario, Sonic, Zelda, DK or anything like that... I completely missed that era just like I'm missing the next-gen era.

*Runs on through with the Silent Hill flag*

There's just something about the setting that speaks to me. It's a surreal mix of urban decay, monsters, fantastic dour ambiance, and creepiness that I don't see elsewhere. The better ones really shine for their characterization.

Add another to the "Pokemon" pile.

Also throwing the Ace Attorney series and Sims 2 into the bunch.

The former because of the writing and characters, I swear there isn't a single one that didn't tug right at my heartstrings from their first line. xD <3 God I love that series.

And Sims 2 is just fun for the variety of ways to play it. :3 You can get the opportunity to make really detailed Sims with a lot of personality and get really attached...only to immolate them and everyone within a 5 mile radius a few moments later. XD;; Great stuff.
OM NOM NOM.

I got the second MD and thought it was a complete waste of money. It was the same thing every morning, day in and day out, and the game-play and graphics weren't to impressive either.

FATAL FRAME [en.wikipedia.org] - Although I enjoy other survival horror games such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill as well, the Fatal Frame series is the one that keeps me coming back again and again. The exceedingly creepy atmosphere and dark, ominous storylines become more and more intense as you learn about the spirits and rituals that have been frozen in time and drawn you (and often others) unwillingly into their decaying world. Your only salvation is a camera called the "Camera Obscura", which has the power to exorcise spirits by capturing their essence on special film.

They improved the gameplay mechanics noticeably from game to game (especially in regard to the camera angle, movement up and down stairs and using the Camera Obscura) and the graphics are impressive considering the age of the titles. Additionally, the optional ghost hunting side quests improve replayability and open up new options to the player. It will take quick reflexes and memorization (or a good FAQ) to capture them all. Just remember to save whenever you can so you can go back if you miss something.

A fourth in this series has been released for the Wii in Japan and was rumored to be coming out in the US for some time, but it looks like Nintendo of America may have put it on hiatus. Fortunately for European fans of these games, it looks like it should be getting a release in February of next year.

Here is the trailer for the newest one for those who are interested:

I.E. Not just following the list of:

-OMG! Evil is bad.

-Find out you are dead good.

-Kill stuff, get rupees, find bombs.

-Kill 8 bosses.

-Get the tr-force.

-Get the master sword.

-Final Showdown.

-Da-da-da-daaaaaaaaa. Game end.

I hope they stray from this format a little. A couple of them did, such as Majora's Mask and the other spin-offs. But surely it doesn't have to be applied to a game in the canon.

My favourite series are Fallout and Metal Gear/Solid. Mainly because I love the idea of the dying earth and society being under complete control by the government, in respective order.

Hmmm favourite series? That's a tough one... A few years back before VIII was released I probably would've said Final Fantasy. That's no where near the case anymore...

I guess I'd have to say Zelda because it's the only game series where whenever I've picked up a title from it I've consistently enjoyed it, yes that includes Windwaker which was damn fun. As for the formula, I'm happy either way as long as they don't start using the same exact puzzles and never add anything new to solve I'm pretty happy, I love solving those.

Just something fun about being able to walk upside down in iron boots.

Whoot! We just hit fifty comics!

That's a tough one....

Buuuut my favorite video game series of all time would have to be Viewtiful Joe!

Viewtiful Joe is just the coolest kind of character, his voice, attitude, moves. I spent so much time playing and replaying the two games. Everything about that game spewed style. Artsy games like that are the reason Clover was so amazing, sucks they didn't make enough money... :[

Anyway, here's to hoping there will someday be another, VIEWTIFUL JOE!

Henshin a go-go Baby!

All Hail Despotize!
