What's up with the Detroit Comicon?

Is anyone planning to go to the Detroit area Comicon this year? I usually go every year but was a little disappointed with the last one. Last year they didn't even use the speakers rooms. They had the celebs and artists behind a curtain. The noise from the floor was so loud you couldn't hear anything they were saying and they had no PA. After looking at the list of artists and celebrities for this year, I might not even go. Is it lack of money or lack of interest by the Detroit area comic fans?

Personally for me it's being 450 miles away, and without a car. I stopped going to Detroit festivals when they started charging cover fees for them all. I used to think technofest was hilarious, but there's no way I'm paying $40 to get in.
By the way, there is a subforum for con threads if you didn't see it. It gets a little lost in the list.

Yeah, this should be in the other thread. I don't spend enough time on this forum. Didn't know there was a thread already.

In the weeks since I posted this, it appears that the Comicon isn't going to be so bad. I look forward to seeing Kate M. It is also a great chance to just walk around and see what some of the comic artists are doing as independents. That's supposed to be the point of this anyway.
