What's the darkest story you've tried to write so far?

My darkest story so far was about one man's hate for another. Ever since they were children he's hated this other person, bullying him in school, harassing him, etc...

The man finds the object of his hate later in his life. He finds out that the person is about to marry a very beautiful girl and had successfully started a thriving business. So he does the only thing he could think of. During the wedding, the man comes up and shoots the groom in the head just as he is about to change vows.

The hateful man then escapes, believing he has robbed his victim of his happiness. Then he realizes that the man could be reincarnated, so he turns to an evil diety and offers his soul for three things... eternal youth, immortality, and the ability to track soul of his most hated foe so if he's ever reborn he can kill that person before he's had the chance to have another life.

After a while the angels who handle souls arriving to be reincarnated discover what's going on and send a guardian angel to watch over the soul as it is born again. The baby grows to full adulthood and learns about his past lives, and many attempts on his life are made while the guardian angel protects him...

Ran out of ideas for things that could happen to the poor guy, though and decided to write other stuff. I also should find a good reason why one guy would hate another so much that he's willing to sell his soul to continue tormenting the object of his hate...

The darkest story I ever tried to write...? Scary!

Back in the 1980s, I wrote a superhero series that took a dark turn. The main villainess of the series was a powerful vampire sorceress. She was a normal wife and mother killed in the mid-1800s by a vampire and she became an undead. Over the years, this vampire studied to become a sorceress, eventually becoming a modern-day threat to the superhero team.

The villainess came to near-ultimate power by slaying the "Dark Gods" that gave her power and taking their power for herself. The only link she had to the "normal" was her daughter, also an immortal sorceress (but not a vampire or undead) and superhero on a different superhero team.

In a spell gone wrong, the villain's power was instantly transferred to her daughter unexpectedly, making the villain human and mortal (but still young and healthy). Her daughter, however, was driven mad by the sudden rush of dark magical power. The daughter kidnapped her superhero boyfriend, used a spell to forcibly corrupt him to her (now insane) way of thinking, and vanished. It was implied that the horrors she could inflict on the world would dwarf anything her mother had ever done. (Dum dum dummmmmm!)

Good times, huh? :gem:

A fanfic for Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm). Anyone who read that manga series knows how dark it already is.

Remember how Zapan accidentally killed Sara? I didn't like that entire scene; it was too quick, like something crammed into the beginning so that the author could get to the main story faster.

So I wrote a fanfic out of that entire scene: How Zapan was rescued, how he was nursed back to health, his inner conflicts, their tentative love. THEN the tragedy.

I was very proud of the fact that the admin of Seraphim of the Scrapyard [reimeika.ca] approved of the fanfic. The Gunnm fanfics he collected on his site are some of the best fanfics I've ever read period.

LOL, I was using dad's email, so dad got credited for the fanfic on the site. xD

For lack of a better Title, I wrote a short that became a bit of an Epic Called "THE NECROMANCER" about a young Wizard to be Waundering the world as his final steps into his Wizard training with out a clue as to who he was. His Name stripped form even him by his teachers becuase of his rampent pride in himself.

The lesson was to humble him, and while others would get the training from skilled Wizards, Out Here Who knows him self only as the Necromancer, must self teach him self while learning the value of humility.

Since the age of 10 to his current age of 28 he's learned his lession well but still strugles to learn the final bits about his craft when he stumbles on a Town in need and their misunderstanding that while he is a necromancer, he is not evil and trying to help these people besieged by Demons to solve a problem they have been having for years.

The story get really dark as those you would see as evil are the good guys and those that are to be seen as the good guys are not all that great or noble.

IT's total Fantasy, and I never saw it as a base for a comic book storyline but now I'm converting it and I figure a 10 Issue (25-30 page an issue) would jsut about cover the entire story.

That or another one I am resurving just for a Video Game Formatted story.

My darkest story? How silly! My darkest story is actually my best one, and I'm going to start working on it when I'm good enough. That's actually why I'm practicing. I really wanna draw this storyline :)

Well, my storyline's bloody, horrible, and dramatic. It's about a world that has angels and demons in it, and how they hate each other for religious reasons. (Well, they're not really angels and demons, that's just what they call themselves because that's what they most resemble.) The angels treated the demons like crap, because they thought all demons were sinners. The demons hated the angels because they hated them because of the big book, and not how they were. They started a great war, and it stopped for various reasons. The story starts after the war. The main character, Hiroe (which is a girl), still knows there is a conflict between the two, and tries to stop it. All the main characters were all in the war (besides Roka) and had bloody pasts (besides Roka). They could all fight well (besides Roka) and they are serious about what they're fighting for (besides Roka).

There's way way WAY more to it, but I seriously don't feel like typing it out. At all. It's a really long storyline.... I seriously think it'll be from 20 to 25 (about 250 pgs each) books for each season. Which is scary.

It's basically every genre besides romantic comedy. No one cares about romantic comedy.

Me: But there's lots of mystery, horror, action, intense sex...
Guy: What was that last one?
Me: Action...

But... yeah, I really want to draw it as a manga one day. That's my dream, to get that damn story published... Hey, even if it doesn't get popular at all, I still want it to be published. That's my dream! Believe it! (stabs Naruto)

This year, school's full of BS!!!

MY darkest story hasn't been written per sey... It's all in ma noggin. It's about a guy who's in a slump in his life, OD's on cocaine, then wakes up in a whole new world at war, with people from his normal life, but they all have different names. Kinda like a twisted Alice in Wonderland. And they all think he's the king of this world, but then find out he's not... and it goes on from there, I don't want to give away too much in case I decide to make into a comic.
I'm Jon. You can call me Dr. Jon... but I prefer Jon since I'm not really a Doctor.

Every other story I do in penis is the darkest story yet. Weather its Rape Man showing up to "save the day with rape" or a story I did that was about six pages and very creepy , I keep thinking of ways to top myself. I think thats about as far as I'm willing to go for jokes and situations right now. I don't know if Rape Man is worse than that or not. Out of about 120 pages, he's appeared maybe three times. After thinking it over, yeah, Chester is much worse as a character.

I'm going to start doing more body horror type story soon. I might even do stuff thats in the chic with the new "torture" theme from horror movies now. As only I could do it in my web comic.

Sounds like that story arc in Angel where Gunn was trapped in suburban Hell with a white wife. Every once in a while he's required to go down into the basement to change the light bulb. That's Basement Time for Gunn.

One of my new readers was horrified by a story of passion gone all wrong, ending in him stabbing her, with some naturalistic descriptions. Overkill and basically a sea of blood - but hardly my darkest story. Half of my writings try to outdo each other in being the scariest. Out of all, I'd say the trippiest is the one about everyone in the world disappearing one morning and me being the only one left.

The scary part is that when I wrote it in my senior year of college, sometimes I'd wake up wishing I lived in that world.

I posted one of my stories in Art. It's moderately trippy:

Fuck. All my stories are dark. What ranks darkest?

Suicide? Check.

Rape? Check.

killing children? check.

defacing tombs? check.

uh...

The story I got into the most trouble for was while I was in highschool. It wasn't a story in written form. I was in a video class and we were told to make a movie, a good movie, about anything. I made a horror movie. About a kid who kills his teacher. Teacher. Didn't. Like.

Darkest stuff I've written...hasnt been comics (at least none i've finished yet)
I wrote a short story for my creative writing class about a girl who finds a sick cat that dies. My instructor said the cat didnt suffer enough, so I rewrote the work to include how the main character felt cast out as garbage, find the cat and after failing to save it tosses it in the trash can she found it by. o_o

DDwise I think the darkest thing I've written thats online is the Phoenix arc of Soapbox Hill.

That sounds like a good RL type story.
I wrote symbolic introspective stories in a similar vein in creative writing class. I guess everybody had to.

I think its one of those mandatory projects for all creative writing classes. My teacher was odd though, she seemed really excited about reading about a cat suffering o_o I learned alot about writing from that woman. >_>

When I was in a sort of goth phase late in high school I tried writing a vampire story. I thought it'd be great if I could put in all sorts of swearing, violence and sex into an overtly dark scenerio about some bloodline related curse. I guess I thought that over-the-top sex and violence and manufactured darkness made stories more real. Only it really sucked and I quit writing it a few pages in.

I can't do dark/horror/depressing. I tried to start a horror monster story once, but it quickly morphed into comedy of errors, slice-of-life (with a monster hanging around too... oddly enough).

So, as far as for any amount of success, my darkest story is actually Used Books. There's a lot of guilt/lamenting/violence/death in it. Still, 70% of the time it keeps a pretty light tone. :-/ I seriously suck at "dark" stuff.

See, most of my work contains these things (well, save for defacing grave sites, but that's just because I don't tend to have use for traditional burial situations), in addition to incest, molestation, genocide, physical and emotional abuse of adults and children, so on and so forth.

But I don't really consider the stories "dark". Is Sune a dark story?

Someone once said the reason I didn't enjoy Southpark was because its humor is primarily shock value, and I function in a place so far beyond that level of shock that it's lost, like trying to scream louder than a hurricane. I wonder if it's the same with "dark". Is my stuff dark and I just don't see it because I live there all the time, with those characters? Have I become desensitized?

What is dark? Is it defined by crossing lines of what is and is not socially acceptable?

Dark is not what you feel. That's too subjective.
Dark is what your characters feel. And then, if you are good enough that you can immerse your reader in your characters' mindset and emotions, then you can make a butcher feel the darkness of a death of a goldfish.

I once tried to make a book full of twisted little fairy tales.
One was about a poor family (mother, father and a daughter) living in the forest. One day when the mother is asleep, the father leaves the little girl alone deep into the forest somewhere so she can't get home again. There is some magical moth flying around in the forest that returns the girl home and when the father comes back and sees the girl standing in the room he kicks her into the fireplace. The girl is burned up and dead and the father hides the body of the little girl in a well-locked box on the attic. The girl then reincarnates into a moth. It seems that those insects are made for the protection of kids. When the poor couple gets another kid (by accident ofcourse) the father treats him bad and makes him into some sort of slave. The moth-girl flies to her old home and gets through the window of the attic where the box with her old body lies. With her powers she returns her old body from the dead and unlocks the box. The body walks downstairs where the family is dining (the father is yelling at his new son). The family is shocked and the father tries to flee. When he leaves the house he is eaten alive by a swarm of moths.
And I was writing one about a girl that gets raped by a giant spider. Later I decided to replace the whole rape-thing with some kind of sting or potion that makes her pregnant. Of a spider-baby ofcourse. Still needed to finish/edit it.
And another story about a guy with no arms that was pretty sad.

Never really finished these. I like having dark fantasies, but they are too harsh to actually write it all down in long and good storytelling. It takes patience and time and I rather put all that in other stories. Still, they aren't THAT dark, could've done a lot meaner and stuff. But er, why would I.

Copied from my old script:

"Children At Play" takes place in a fictional (unnamed) state during an unknown time period
(anywhere between 2000-2099) in Ashton county. Technology is modern with
futuristic technology whenever they are needed for the actual plot.

Otherworldly and supernatural "creatures" exist in this world with little to no reception from humans, as myth and legend are so widespread that they are believed to be real. Rumors, myths, and legends are so vastly popular in ASHTON that they've taken a life of their own. Once believed by enough people, a legend becomes true in some way or another, which doesn't frighten the citizens as they've forced themselves to believe what only exists in their own collective heads. There is very little "truth" in the story but more than enough speculation.

The theme of the story is "Enjoying Life." While the characters appear to be content with the lives they live, all of them take it for granted; only GAMELLON truly enjoys living to the point that it will do anything to stay alive. The style is consistently dark with special attention paid to shadows yet the art is kept disproportionate and cartooney to create a humorous juxtaposition.

The story revolves around a 12-year girl named MAUREEN and her experiences battling her own neurosis and personal problems. As a sub-plot, a god-like entity known as HELIX plans to manifest itself into reality by using ASHTON County as its "altar." At the same time, GAMELLON's own quest to manifest itself (unbeknownst to it) serve only to feed HELIX.

In the end, HELIX is manifested into the real world and kills entire popluation except MAUREEN.
GAMELLON, falling in love with Maureen’s personality, saves her from death. Together, they destroy HELIX. Using Maureen’s ability to mentally project her will (thus altering reality) she goes on to create a "world worth living in" for herself while GAMELLON cheerfully lives on.

Someday I want to finish it... but probably never will.
