i remember reading wizard and they'd decapitate him or do some crazy stuff to his image. but i was reading an interview, and to me he seems like a pretty good boss in the comic world that just go the raw deal when people back stabbed him.

I went and read the CBR link. It totally brings back memories of the Comics Journal.
Heh.
A good read for sure. Jim Shooter has never been shy that's for sure.
(Removed my first post since the article makes most of its content redundant).

I'd love to work with that guy. ;)
I always loved what he did with Valiant, I was a little young or non-existant on this planet when he did his original run on Legion... but now that I'm a pretty well versed student of comic book history, it always seems to me like two things about Shooter-- he would often get blamed for things that weren't really his fault, but he still had the nuts to stand up and be the guy in charge. He also did radical things and tried to change things up in comics, by altering characters, giving them more depth at times-- also he's probably the godfather of "epic storylines"-- if it weren't for secret wars, you'd have none of this CIVIL WAR stuff today. He kept it fun, mixed it up, and unfortunately there's a large crowd of comic fans who want things to "remain the same" -- when you come in with big big ideas, it's not always a welcome thing. They'll buy you one minute, and the minute you're gone, blame you for everything that's wrong in the world. Several figures in comics history that has happened to, it seems.

I'm a fan of Jim Shooter. DJ outlined a few of what made him such an important figure in comics, but I'd like to go with the same topic if I could. He took the idea of a shared universe to a new level with stuff like Secret Wars. He basically was the show runner for Valiant for a lot of years, stuff like Turok and X-O Manowar among others. Everybody tries stuff out that doesn't work, but Jim Shooter seems to get blasted by the dorks that run Wizard pretty regularly. Should I mention how they used to blast Frank Miller before the success of Sin City's movie?
I for one would tell Wizard plainly what I thought of them and their magazine in a print interview. Its rather juvenile to ridicule someone that set such industry standards as the major crossover. The last five years or so every year in both big houses have had their "event", be it an Identity Crisis or Civil War, it looks like the trend isn't going to stop either. I wonder how long it'll be before the guy who came up with the weekly DC comic that runs year round gets blasted by Wizard for being an idiot and ruining the industry?
