What exactly qualifies as a sprite? I think I've got a rough idea, but could someone just clarify it for me?

Animated images that form objects or characters in 2D games. They were used in most video games until 3-D, polygon graphics.
Please, please, you give me too little credit.

So are they animated in the comics featured on here or just still images?

It's a kind of pixie that's associated with forest glades and pools isn't it? lol!

I belive Wikipedia will provide the answers you desire regarding game sprites [en.wikipedia.org] and sprite comics [en.wikipedia.org].

The association of the name of a mythological class or faerie creature with this graphical component of early electronic gaming probably had something to do with the innate dorkiness of the medium... You'll find a hell of a lot of mythological names for things in the world of technology.

It's because they are small representations of larger things, sort of like the aforementioned Pixies. Also, they are made of "Pixels", which sounds superficially like "Pixie". You know, I just realized that...

What, do you need some resources, or something?

Yes, yes. Resources would be great! Where can i see some examples/ whats the best program to make a sprite/sprite comic in? Obviously i'm not much of a sprite guy, because i didn't know what they were until now, but it's just interesting to know.

Photoshop is the best program to make them in, but mot people just use MS Paint. All you're doing is cutting and pasting certain images over and over again.
It's a comic!

Seriously, if you're interested in making a sprite comic, it's really just a cut-and-paste comic. People just use video game sprites because they're readily available.

As you're an animation student, if you want to do a comic with minimum time investment art-wise, consider taking the time to draw up a collage of things in Flash or what-have-you, and copy paste those around instead. Your comic will be about 98% better than any video game sprite comic because of it.

Cheers skoolmunkee, for the tips, but i intend on ivesting a great deal of time into my comics on here as they were my first love, although animation is rapidly catching up. Lets just say story telling is my main love (non-female wise).

Cheers
