What would you write/draw differently in your comic if you were the opposite gender? What would be different? Art wise? Story wise? Character wise? Or would it still be the same?

interesting question...

If I am a female (I would never imagine myself as a female... yuck!), I think I would probably change the style of my art and a bit of the story. Less action, more drama, fantasy, and romance!

Well, that's some of the answer of the question so far... I need to think over it.

How about you J.F? what would you do?

Enjoy... Las Vegas-y

My stories would probably be more intelligent...

Overall probably less action, more adventure. But really I have no idea.

wow... my comic would probably be totally different if I had a Y chromosome...
my comic is really romantic (with the deceptive misnomer of "Misfit Assassins... hehe) but I can't imagine a boy dedicating a whole chapter to Valentine's Day... ^^
(ooh! if I were a boy I'd be gay though, cause I'm all like, "wohoo men!", so it'd be YAOI-TASTIC!!!!! Yay!)

I think there'd be more fan service, actually, but probably in a more subtle way. I've noticed at art school that girls love drawing beautiful women with long, flowing hair and skimpy, yet highly ornate clothing.

It's not that male writers aren't into romance. If I were a dude comiker my comics would probably be more erotic romantic. The make out scenes would last longer and... boobs would show more.
I think the jokes would be more naughty too.

If I were a guy writing Vampire Phantasm....one of these probably would've happened:

1: Jack would've been a woman...
2: Jack would still be a guy but Orlock would become a woman.
3: Jack would still be a guy but Orlock wouldn't exist. Leaving Jack as just an uber-powerful hunter of foolish vampires like Alucard from Hellsing. XD
4: JACK wouldn't exist and it would be all about Orlock being his freaky-ass self. Spreading terror and pain throughout the world with no hope of killing him.
5: The story would be all about Ren! XD

Though in all seriousness, I don't know what would've been different. Maybe nothing. All I did here was stereotype. XP

I come up with a lot of bad jokes in my head ,but I usually refrain myself from putting em in my comics. It's not lady like. lol

No, you'd be the opposite, so you'd have an uncontrollable desire for women like the rest of us. >_>

If I were a male, I'd probably use more and stronger curse words (I draw it for my friends and my dad, so nothing is too bad. My dad doesn't need to know I can and sometimes do curse like a sailor). My drawing would probably look a lot better, especially the women. Most men I know draw breasts better than me, but I just don't care to put effort into it. Maybe I would actually have a male core character. I think I'd actually kill people off more or show more violence more graphically. My recurring male characters might be less thoughtful/emotional and more strong and "manly."

Or... assuming my identity is not influenced in any way by hormones or social norms, there would either be no change at all or possibly a complete gender reversal with all my males as females and vice versa.

In Bhag, the story is based off a D&D game I played with some friends. Since the GM required us to play our gender, the crazy elf would probably have turned out to be female. Considering his range of cross-gender personalities, I'm not sure that would have changed much. Apart from that, most of the readers we (myself and my writer) get that I know personally are female, so I can't imagine if I were female and part of the same social circle I'm part of now, that the comics would have changed much.

Not that much, I already make comics that are quite 'sweet' and 'cute' and emotional. I sometimes make 'dark' comics right now (not on the Duck) that are more serious and about the problems of society and stuff. Don't know if I would be making THOSE then. If I were a girl there would also be slightly more little details (like little floweries ^^ ) and more colors. Also the search for a girl wouldn't be in my comic the way I do it right now. I don't know if I would be into boys in a girl-version of myself because I can have fun with them, but LOADS of guys simply just disgust me. No I think I would be more a lesbian really (sounds pretty weird) :/ I would also draw a lot about my boobs to get more comments and pageviews XD

And my main character would be wearing a dress ofcourse. But I can easily say that my male character will also be seen various times wearing a dress in the future. There is something about crossdressing that I've always found very interesting. Don't know what it is...

Oh I forgot the major one: I'd probably have a female main character and be able to write women. I just can't write female characters.

I... don't know. I can't imagine a lot would be different, because I'm kind of a tomboy as it is. Maybe my main character would have bigger breasts and wear less clothing?

Probably the same thing some men in this topic are saying about women by saying their comic would be more "romantic" if they were female? =P

There's no way to answer this question without being stereotypical, really.

I already get flack for how big Ferrah's boobs are in Shifters. And I'm a chick.

If I was a guy, the main character would probably be a guy and the art style would be a lot harder, with more sharp edges, squarness, and more.. male for lack of a better way to decribe it. More technology, cars, buildings, guns. Probably less supernatrual stuff, more tech focus.

In Brymstone, Darshe would probably be more masculine looking and the whole story probably would have turned out differently. But that was an RP character so... eh heh heh. And it probably would have ended up being X-rated, cuz Darshe is a pervy lech and womanizer.

Exactly. This is definitely something you have to joke around with a bit and not take the answers too seriously.

Hoo boy, we had better be careful with this topic. It could start a war.^^;

hmmmmmmm...

Well, First of all, no more bishies..
and I love to draw bishounen men. although, I dont draw the kind with really narrow faces and chins/noses so pointed they could put your eye out.
My characters would probably look more like DBZ characters with super accented muscles rippling everywhere (which seems more gay to me than any guy writing romance). And like DBZ it probably would have zero storyline and all fighting.

But as it is, I dont do all that "stereotypical" girly stuff.
And I am a girl, btw. A lot of people think Im a guy for some reason.

I draw women with big breasts and often scantily-clad. Why not? If the ladies get their sexy bishy man-beast, shouldnt I give the lads their sexy gals?
well, actually people have teased me about drawing big-breasted before because I had originally never noticed. I probably couldnt even draw a small chested woman ^^;
Of course they arent like crazy gianormous where they cant even fit into already skimpy clothes and would, in real life, give the poor woman back pain.

I do have a romantic story, but I havent really made it yet and its all crazy and wacky like Mahoujin Guruguru. I probably wouldnt have done it as a guy though because its inspired by my own feelings for a man Ive loved a very long time.

As far as my other stories go, there are some faint romantic elements to be revealed in Narou which I cant really talk about. And thats pretty twisted, so I cant consider it normal romance. Like Shadowmyst said, it would probably be pornographic too and not be about him finding redemption for his sins through helping a little girl.
I was going to put some sex scenes it in actually, but Ive got a younger crowd of readers and quite a few of them objected to it.

Oni no Noroi will have some romance soon, but it will be cut tragically short. That story would probably be roughly the same only more fighting and samurai swords a slashing. None of this dull "getting to know you" crap Im doing right now ;-p
(and there will be sex scenes in this one.)

I also dont like Yaoi so much as it is. Warui was a sorta weird yaoi story I started with a friend who is gay, so Im not opposed to it. I just dont like it when its a bunch of men who are pretty much girls in every aspect except their organs and their whiny sob story love is the center stage. If I were a guy, I'd feel the same way. Of course, if I were a guy, I probably wouldnt want to see two dudes get it on ;-p
And I wouldnt have done Warui at all probably...

HAHAHAHAHA, I honestly cannot imagine drawing my comic if I was male. It'd be SO different that it wouldn't really even BE the same comic. It'd involve big swords still (probably) but I suspect it'd have a much darker tone, less of a female-dominated cast...I dunno. Maybe if I was a guy, I'd draw a comic about big robots with swords...? I'm not sure how male me would think. Maybe if male me was like my brother, he'd come up with huge plans for stuff, but never actually make it, so maybe male me wouldn't ever get round to doing a comic!

I'm neutral. These are fanarts, I don't have any pics to show at the moment.

Probably from this:

To this:

I don't think there's much change. Mervin/Merva is still a shy character, Kimmy/Kenny is still a hyper character, Unbi/Not-sure-what-her-name would still be an insane character. o_o

Eunice is a gal Sub... She leave enough hints :)

If I was a woman, Pinky TA would probably be a little different. I can imagine myself still drawing Pinky and Cc in sexy outfits, but with MUCH less "panty" and bum shots, and NO nipples showing through whatever they wear. I might struggle a little bit more with the tanks and other mecha (if I had any in there at all), but I'd probably be able to draw men much, much better than I do now.

-I say that about the mecha because males are traditionally socialised to be more interested in those things.

What? Eunice P ain't a girl. He's a man. Y'all wrong. Wrong!

What would I draw like if I was a girl? First of all, I'll only agree to be a girl if I could be hot, and as tall as I am now.

Now that that's out of the way...

Art: The Don Bluth influences would still be there, but the Toriyama and Marvel influences probably wouldn't be. I have an obsession with choreographed violence ever since I was a wee tot, and I followed works which had that. Prolly wouldn't be there if I'm a girl. My life art would be a lot more girly? Like Clamp? But I don't like drawing machines and symmetrical objects (buildings) anyways (even though I can), so that doesn't change. I also might be more familiar with different types of media (such as painting and Photoshop).

Story: I prolly still would've been heavily influenced by Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, and I prolly would've still liked kung fu novels and LotR novels, but I might have read more romance trash instead of all the sci-fi and spy thrillers and action manga? My stories would prolly be more romance than drama. I'd prolly write a lot more fanfics! I'd prolly crush on Hugh Jackman and Solid Snake. But not Orlando Bloom. Just. No.

Games: I guess I wouldn't use the wrestlers/grapplers/big guys all the time when I play fighting games. If I play fighting games. Oh, but I prolly would still like King of Fighters 95-97, and yaoi it up with Kyo and Iori.

FIGHT current chapter: Filling In The Gaps
FIGHT_2 current chapter: Light Years of Gold
