any ideas on what to do with the piles of line art i have around my house..
next question what should i do with web comics on other hosts..
after duck went down started posting else where. then when duck came back on line i moved back here. as well i think this is the best host out there ...but now what to do with those web comics.. keep them as a back up files in case my hard drive and every thing else dies or...delete them from the face of the web...

Having mirrors never hurts. I have some of my work mirrored on multiple sites. Keep them updated, but put a link back to whatever site you consider to be your comic's home.

Yeah, mirrors are fairly common, and there's really no problem with them unless you find yourself on a site with an exlusivity contract (like paysites or Keenspot). Anyway, I always find it fun if an artist would post a few samples of "old work" somewhere on their site; gives you an idea of how they got to be where they are today. Usually just dropped somewhere in the Extras section below the wallpapers and such.

I'm treating my mirror on DD as completely autonomous. My comic is still fairly obscure thanks to bad update schedules and lack of real advertizing initiative so I just set my DD account to update through my archives on a daily basis, while I still draw new comics for my regular site.
I like it because it gives me the feeling like I'm updating 7 days a week, plus it's rather humbling getting opinions on my old old stuff. I haven't linked to my regular site so unless readers take the initiative to find it (which, lets face it, is pretty rare) it's like having a whole new audience.

It's always nice to keep old art so you can always look back and see how far you've come. :)

You can't rape comics though! Unless these are 'special' comics with all sorts of 'intimate' drawings in them...

Post them and then go "OMG GUYZ DONT BE HARD I MADE THIS LIK 2 YEERS AGO"
I'm kinda like that, but it's not because I can't take the abuse. It's just I can't learn from anything said about old art I've changed so much. I post new art too so people can tear into me on that, and theres nothing stopping people from tearing into my writing.

No, you'd be surprised how many people post things they know is absolute crap and then scream at people when they say it isn't good.
I'd only be surprised if it was a small number.
If someone tells me my old stuff sucks my general response is gonna be "Yeah, I kinda think so too..."
I might argue some semantics because alot of the old jokes I still like alot. But as a finished peice, yeah not the greatest...

i keep all my old stuff, i got art from decades ago and though i hate it i cannot bring myself to destroy it.
i ripped up one picture and spend a good several good minutes taping it back together, god what a night that was. argh.
but on devaint art everything that is crap and isn't faved gets trashed.
i have a high standard for other's art and and even higher one for mine.
unless i actually like one of my older drawings it never sees the light of day again.

All I can say to whom I consider a close friend is that artwork is an internal expression of latent feelings and inner emotions put on a canvas, or paper, or even soundwaves. No matter what, you should be able to show all aspects of your artwork. Even if what you draw looks like the remnants of a 300 year food fight battle.
Anyways, what you do is what you do. We'll always be here to view and read, and laugh both with you and at what you write. You're a genius, and much of your personality of what I've seen shines off of your comics.
Keep it up! You'e brought me this far, I think it's time for another friend to back you up.

Chaotic, not to be rude, but the last post was almost two years ago. Necroposting is ok if it's just a few weeks old or even a month or two, but 20 months is pushing it. I can see that you're new, so I'm giving you the heads up that some people hate when users do that.

First post in the forums and all you could find to reply to was a thread 20 months old? We must be pretty boring here!

About five months ago I was cleaning my room and found my old Gemini Storm pages, the ones I got posted over at Clovenhand. I did something that many would not do and threw them in the 'Chuck it' pile. I all honesty, I still don't care about them. Of course, that's just me.
The alternative thing I was going to do was buy a folder and put all the pages in there (One of the plain yellow ones used in filing cabinets) and then tucked them away, just so one day I could go back and remember what I used to be like (And wonder how in the hell I could have been proud of that crap). But, what's done is done.
As for mirrors, yeah, I've thought about it and might do it one day, hopefully when I get a comic popular enough to get its own domain. But I do prefer the duck to comicgenesis or smackjeeves, so I'm staying here for now.
Edit: Heh, should have read the last few posts. If responding to an old thread is a problem, then sorry. I'll delete if you want it to return to the depths
