The story?
Could be anything but I am more drawn to it by the degree of intelligence to it. Every time I read a book or a comic or an article, I can sense right away the intelligence level of that particular piece of writing.

The characters?
- If I find a character I can relate to I'd be hooked to it right away.

The art style?
- I'm biased for manga style or realism.

Nice author?
- It matters. Its actually one of the reasons why some comics in my favorites are there. If you wanna be a friend, I'd be a friend too. :)

Genre?
I'm not really picky about genre but the ff are my preferences:
- fantasy
- has alot of fights (doesnt matter if its about dysfunctional families or martial arts) and associated drama related to it.
- conspiracies
- politics
- religion (includes mythology)

I'm pulled in by a variety of different reasons. I'll read the most recent few pages, and I'll stick around if one or more of the following is true:
**I love the art, and the story line is okay/picking up.
**I love the story line, and the art is okay/(what's the word for "legible" when it applies to art?)
**I immediately identify with a character, or the character is complex enough that I want to know more of his/her/its story.
**I catch an obscure funny and/or interesting reference or joke.

I'd say the art, totally.

Nadya- a tale about what happens to SOME of us when we die.

Currently: Nadya is awake and asking more relevant questions.

I'm going 50/50 with that.

Josh Rants is a really funny comic. It's random/spontaneous but the art is lacking. Though I still enjoy it.

Dreamland Chronicles looks extraordinary. Some really good 3-d design going on, but the story is really bad now. After the first 100+ pages you'll fall off.

What draws you in?
Unique art and story. I'm always looking for different ideas to explore.

The story?
I prefer epic sweeping stories to short one-a-day Far Side-like gags.

The characters?
I like my characters fleshed out so that I can at least understand them on them level, even the insane ones have a degree of logic.

The art style?
I like unique art that's hard to match with others. There's so many comics now that just copy the anime style.

Nice author?
Depends if I'm a fan of their work or not. If I'm not a fan, I really don't care either way.

Genre?
I like everything but it's mostly fantasy, horror, science fiction, and action/adventure that I prefer. I leap for joy if I can find well written urban or contemporary fantasy.

The art must be interesting enough to lure me in first. Then the story, comedy, characters and the originality factors must be interesting enough to keep me hooked. :)

A huge plus if it's fantasy/medieval related. ;)
