Comics that have abstract concept/storyline are the ones I avoid the most. I just can't read something that will give me a headache.

speaking of Stache some may refuse to read a comic from someone who has a mustache.

There are a lot of anti-stache sentiments out there.

I really have no problems with staches, except that they are ee-vil, I can't grow one, & anyone that can tends to be a fascist dictator hellbent on some malignant scheme. Other than that, I think stached individuals really don't need to be put to death.

Tortured, maybe, for hours & hours, but death seems a little extreme (unless I'm in a foul mood).

I knew it! :cat:

I've had a beard before (yes, I am a guy, despite the avatar lol!) and it looked pretty nice...but I looked silly with a stache when I was 18. Sort of made me look like an 80s bad guy extra (might have been the shades I wore at the time, too). I was never mistaken for a dictator -- or Bruce Lee, either!

Utterly generic or ripped-off-from-other-comics superheroes with stiff or cliche dialogue (when the heroes take themselves seriously). I know some people consider that a tribute of sorts but it's been overdone.

On the other hand, I love parody!

1: Sprites.
I'm sorry, sometimes I try and give them a chance...but they're so damn BORING. Both in looks and in jokes/story. Original sprites I may give it a bigger chance though. Even if it's original it's probably boring though. Sprites are just so lifeless and without expression. I. Just. Don't. Care.

2: MAMMOTH page sizes
Oh for crying out loud, the least you can do is look up how to resize before posting.

3: Bad pencil drawn comics
I'm sorry, but if you're comic is lazy pencil drawn then I'll probably turn away from it. If I don't then your art must have some major heart.

4: "THIS COMIC IS CRAP!"
I WON'T READ IT THEN!

I'm sure there's other stuff...like subjects that have been done a bazillion times and just story types that I'm not interested in...but those are the main things.

Offensive?
Define offensive. Bah, it's hard to offend me...even if they're deliberately trying to.

Furry?
Furry doesn't bother me if the story is good.

Style of art?
To be honest, some generic...."pointy" anime styles may turn me away unless they're done VERY well. (Especially if they're in pencil.) Or lifeless American/Realistic styles. I'm rarely turned away by style though.

Author is a jackass?
I haven't had much bad experiences involving this...

Weird subject matter?
Define weird subject matter. XD

Sprite: Sorry, won't read it. It was funny in 8-Bit Theater. The joke is old. Try something new. Sames goes with MS Paint.

Low quality: Usually anything that's poorly scanned and poorly drawn. If I can't read your writing because your scanner sucks, I'm not going to stick around.

for me to stop reading a comic would be for the following reasons:

#1 it was a sleeper
#2 it didn't make sense
#3 it was extremely offensive (I mean EXTREMELY)
#4 it was unoriginal
#5 it featured "the lone wolf" protagonist hehe...

yup ^^

i give most comics a chance....

i try to stay away from adult....mature is fine...within mature, as long as any nudity that's done is with the story line, ie "wyrden". i dont like random boob shots. or just floppin it out there....prolly just trying to get readers....

most sprites....however, the first comic i read on drunk duck was a sprite comic...i found it humorous...it was about dbz....

i dont mind the art, most of the time, if you read it, and help the author they improve.

humor is a major factor in what i look for....it's gotta be funny....and can't be serious for too long...there will always be serious points in a comic....but completly serious isnt my type....

The inspiration for that particular start in Wyrden comes from a couple of things:

Most noteworthy being: the amusing bawdy films that came out a while ago. As Ozone pointed out Doctor Syn, which I had completely forgotten conciously until he did so. The Three Musketeers movie with Charlie Sheen in it and the fact that Talon is pretty much just that kind of guy.

Of course there is a story to the whole thing, which I'll be revealing as time goes on!

I've never been much for in your face hentai/porn and so on, even in movies/animation.

Oh and I'd have to say that the censorship on Talon comes from watching Beowulf's naked fight-scene with Grendle and seeing the look of sheer amusement on Reva's face. I knew from that moment on when she suggested it, that's what she wanted me to write.

As for offensive comics. I am pretty hard to offend so that wouldn't be a reason for me to say, ick.

The author of this particular comic struck me as really stuck up... I gave 'em some critisism once and they kinda gave me the 'yeah, like you know anything' so I lost interest in that comic...

And authors asking for money constanly puts me off too. Even if they need it... just make us pay for the comic outright or stop moaning! It's like after every page you catch a little bit of their funding drive underneath.

Ugh, sprites. Now those are a dime a dozen; at first glance, they all look the same (or at least, similar enough for me not to give them a fair chance). I'm also not a fan of erotic comics (including incest, shota, etc.), and shounen-/shoujo-ai. I'd want to include furry in all this as well, but while I usually try to stray from furry comics...I love Catena Manor. That's the grand exception. I don't like a comic artist who's just a total snob or is just bothersome in any other way, but I *might* still read their comic...but only if it's just really, really good. (The best example of this that I can think of is SpaceCoyote, who does the comic Saturnalia. In the past she's struck me as being pompous and such.) It's always nice to see an artist who truly appreciates his or her fans.

I know I'll probably get shot for this, but I'm also not a particular fan of comics that exist solely for the purpose of giving nonstop fanservice. (i.e., Craving Control and Nemution Jewel.)

Add me to the list of people that can't stand sprites. I tried to read some. Its just impossible to get into.

And does there really need to be 10,000 different Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon fan comics that are almost exactly alike? OH THE HUMANITY!!!

Bad art and/or writing is also a big turn-off for me.
