Not sure if this has been asked before but how does one climb the ranks? I've observed that I have jumped a couple hundred even when there are no page views, no new comments/votes or increase in faves...

Page Views control all, I think. If you want more views, participate in teh forums and comment on other webcomics that you like.

wow, after 3 days of advertising George the Dragon has leapt up to "#12 in Comic Strip #37 Overall" !!!!!!!!!

That is amazing! I am so beside myself with glee!

Sadly I know that once I stop paying for the ads, I'll drop back down to 200 or so.
But I'll enjoy my day in the sun while it lasts :D

You're calling Faust a Comic Strip? Why would you put yourself in the wrong category? Ppl can't find your comic when they browse by categories.

That's what I found when I advertised. The brief spike in viewing figures is great while it lasts, but the number of visitors who stayed to become regular readers after the advertising stopped just didn't justify the cost.

Yeah, I know know what you mean. It gets ridiculously expensive. The spike is a nice morale/ego boost though :D

But I've began to slip recently as Din Krakatau went on hiatus. The highest I was it was about 250 in comic book/story and 300 something overall.

And before that I usually oscillated around 400-500 and sometimes as low as 600 (in the comic book/story).

Engine has dropped like a rock lately...even with 2 updates a week there for a while. #202 in comic story and 224 overall. The best it ever attained was #24, while being featured. I wish I was here when the Duck was alive and full of energy.

Before the site layout changed it was rare for a feature not to go to the font page. (from the ones i saw)
If you can find pic of the old layout you'll see it put a lot of emphasis on features. Also skools newspost from after the layout change shows the difference.

Temple keeps going in between the top 200 and top 400 (it'll go up again when it updates on Monday, for example), and @$$hole! is usually in the top 300 almost all the time. If it updated more often, I have no doubt that I could get it back into the top 100 on the site (like it was during Laura's 21st birthday story).

Advertising is soooo cool. Well actually..'advertising with two super unfairly popular niches is so cool' Since I haven't spent even enough to buy myself a lunch, i feel kinda bad since people keep saying they spent a lot ._.
But my own ad box's price goes up so i get the moneys back which is part of the reason why >.>
