Manga:
These are my all-time favorites. There were a lot I've read and liked, but these four are the ones that touched and influenced me the most - at least as far as my general view of the world is concerned.

- Battle Angel Alita - Probably one of the finest stuff I've read in my entire life. It has everything. In-depth characters that are - although not always likeable - human and alive (yes, even the maggot-guy), awesome fighting scenes, a great storyline, and this sad, awful world that still an provide you with some beauty and hope if you're willing to fight for it. Apart from that, it's a wonderful work from a philosophical point of view. Something I haven't found very often in Comics or Manga.
There actually was a time when I called this manga my bible O_o

- Trigun & Trigun Maximum - for some parts it's the same reasons I've mentioned above. On the other hand, it made me piss myself from laughter at times.

- She! The Ultimate Weapon aka Saikano - and again, the same reasons. What can I say, I'm a sucker for Cyber Punk ^^"

- Blame! - The Cyber-Punk, again. Other than that, I really don't have a clue why I've liked this one so much.

Manga~
Honey and Clover-It's funny, bittersweet and beautiful all at the same time. pretty much the only reason I still subscribe to shoujo beat. I really liked the movie adaption too.

+Anima-oh my god have you SEEN this. it's the most adorable manga. ever.

DNAngel-starts out kind of lame. but around volume 5 the story evolves into something mind-bogglingly amazing. the art is gorgeous too. too bad it only updates once every month...

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro-it's a manga about a demon detective from hell who eats mysteries. what's not to like?

Anime~
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann-words cannot describe how awesome it is. three words: GALAXY. SIZED. ROBOTS.

Soul Eater-gorgeous animation, great characters and an interesting story... it's just so GOOD! :D

Cyborg 009! the manga from the 60s seems a little silly by today's standards, but if you're a vintage/retro nerd, it's perfect. Ishinomori has a great and unique style for anime, it almost looks cartoony instead at times.

there's a 2001 anime remake of the story too, and I'd have to say it was really well done, so if you don't like the manga's style but still want the story, there's always that.

I can't exactly say why I love it so much, but it just has a certain charm, I suppose. it's about a multiethnic team turned into cyborgs against their will, who rebel against the terrorists who created them, and try to stop them from causing the world to devolve into war and chaos. each of them has their own personality, abilities, and backstory, so you get to feel sympathetic toward each character in a different way.

probably black Magic M-66. it's short but it's fuckin AWESOME!!!!

then probably Votoms cuase of the story and the characters.

and Area 88 because of the dog fights. retro fighter planes dooking it out is something you dont see often in anime and it's done superbly.
here's a clip to back me up.

My favorite manga of all time is Death Note because of it's detailed art and easily keeps you hooked.

As for my favorite current manga, (recently made volume of series) it would have to be Muhyo & Roji's Bureau of Supernatural Investigation for it's wonderful art and great plot lines.

My favorite manga is One Piece the anime is nowhere near as good though. Ill watch the fansubs but the dub is an abomination before God.

WORD!!!!!!!!!!

seriously, no love for ONE PIECE? this manga is the reason i spend 5 bucks on shonen jump every month. The manga is so freaking dynamic and awesome. eiichiro oda is a master of creating likeable, believable characters, and his art is so fluid and loose. love the "squash and stretch" style.

DRAGONBALL-the whole thing, volume 1-42. Toriyama's art is just so fun to look at. if you have a problem with this manga, you have a problem with all "tough guy" mangas, since they all imitate this one.

BLEACH- Kubo is an awesome, elegant artist and i love his use of brush and lack of tones, and yet he still makes it look like something he sketched with a pen on a bus ride. I just cant help but feel that he's wasting his time with bleach and should move on to bigger and better things, now that the story is boring.

AKIRA-This is simply a must read manga. screw the anime, it wasnt nearly as deep or thought-provoking as the manga. hell, volume 1 by itself could be a whole movie, 3 brings a new meaning to "kickass fight scenes" 4 and 5 are the best artwise, and 6 brings it all together in a close that is utterly perfect.

NEON GENESIS EVANGELION-never wathed the anime, but I always loved the manga. when kids started dying it was intense! i dont think they ever finished though.

PRIEST(?)-not sure about this one...it was about a cowboy priest who kills zombies and has a deal with the devil. was slick as hell art, but after 5 volumes the story got way too convoluted and confusing and lost the western feel so i stopped reading it.

STAR WARS MANGA- all of them

and some anime that i found neat...

BIBLE BLACK-porn rules

LA BLUE GIRL-same

PERFECT BLUE- creepy as all hell

VOLTRON-come on now. you know you love it

SPEED RACER-hell to the yes. BTW tyhe complete manga collection is available at barnes and nobles!

GUYVER-screw the live action movie

EAT-MAN-its funny cuz i had an idea for a charcter EXACTLY like eat-man before i
saw the show. then i scrapped it because their version was much more well done.

SAMURAI CHAMPLOO-The second-most stylish cartoon ever (number one is samurai jack) i wish this show was done entirely by studio IG, kill bill vol 1 style. oh well, the show we got was still awesome.

STREET FIGHTER-all of them

BIG O-i absolutely LOVED this show. batman with a robot, with a manga by kia asamiya. ah heaven!

"Kung Fu Komix IS...hardcore martial art action all the way. 8/10" -Harkovast
"Kung Fu Komix is that rare comic that is made with heart and love of the medium, and it delivers" -Zenstrive
"Kung Fu Komix is...so awesome" -threeeyeswurm
"Kung Fu Komix is..told with all the stupid exuberance of the genre it parodies" -The Real Macabre
