I have to say that my favorite anime is Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni(including the second season). Even though it has gory scenes in it, I think it has a great plot. My favorite manga is Yotsuba&!. It's so cute!

yeah, in ghost in the shell 2 everyone was like, "lets have a philosophy dicussion in the middle of a fight" ?! what is that!? i think maybe he let the message become more important than the story. though i must admit, i not sure what the message was. i was so angry by the last quarter i turned it off.

Manga and Anime:

Trigun.
Azumanga Daioh.
Naruto.
Just recently, Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann.
And Full Metal Alchemist.

I have no clue why I like them, though.

I just like them.

YESSYESSYESS XD XD I knew someone would know Gurren Lagann
Also Higurashi and Haibane <3

my list of the best:

Fullmetal Alchemist
Azumanga Daioh
Lucky Star
Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
FLCL
Haibane Renmei
Elfen Lied
Higurashi no naku Koroni+(Kai)
and Berserk

The bottom three of those have a mature label stuck to them, but
all of them are awesome stories, well worth the watch

Azumanga and Lucky star are funny high school slice of life shows,
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the most increible anime I've seen since
Fullmetal and FLCL (TTGL made by the guys that did FLCL)
Haruhi, FLCL, and Haibane are awesome and hard to explain XP

Hmm..I find I've gotten more and more picky over my anime and manga lately. When I was younger I would watch/read anything going..but now I'm really quite critical.

Anime

Akira - Gotta love that film, though I haven't managed to watch all of it, it's still an amazing work of art and storyline, and isn't scared of being horribly gory.

Metropolis - Another science fiction anime I love, though the Tezuka style of drawing isn't my favorite, but the story is wonderfully sad.

Cowboy Bebop - It had jazz, spaceships and a mad, conputer hacking monkey-child causing chaos with the help of a corgie, so is therefore a great thing.

Wolf's Rain - I don't see much of it now, but it still ranks as one of my favorites.

Bleach - One of the only really 'popular' anime series that I like, though the characters are a little bit cookie cutter, it's still fun to watch.

Manga

Death Note - Clever, creepy and gripping. Plus L is awesome.

I've never been able to get into Naruto, I've tried to but it really has never appealed to me..it just seems a bit to happy and technicolour..maybe things change later in the series, but I doubt I'd have the pateince to stick with it.

I'm currently into Sergeant Frog a.k.a Keroro Gunso . I know this may sound ridiculous since this manga/anime is actually aimed for kids below 12. But it has this nostalgic resemblance of Fujiko F. Fujio's simplistic comics that I grew up reading throughout my childhood years. Not to mention that there are several episodes of the anime that is insanely hilarious and fun to watch.

Bleach, Naruto & D.Grayman...HEY~!! i see those looks~!! im one of the oldbies of these particular series, i was reading these things when they were still underground things~ and i enjoy reading them, i don't fangirl obsess over them...that's just scary~

Bleach i like because it's got awesome character design, girls that kick butt, evil that is actually smart and awesome monsters =D all things i love~

Naruto because it's ninjas, it's got a good story and somehow SOME WAY the creator has managed to hook me in to the fact that Naruto is actually improving as a character and not just being an annoying brightly colored nit~ and the action scenes are wonderful~ Orochimaru was an awesome piece of evil~ Though Sasuke seriously needs to die now~

D.Grayman- amazing art, amazing story, i mean, the sadness there really gets to you...and who doesn't want a crazy parasitic arm/claw of doom~!? =D
the character designs are cool and the evil...these guys take the cake for original, i mean, i laughed my head off when i first saw the Earl, but now every time i see him it's like..." OH MAN, someone's gonna die now =D "

OK guys, you should all read the manga "From Eroica with Love", it's retro-shoujo from the 70s, absolutely the most ridiculous thing you'll ever see, complete with a hero who mirrors Robert Plant and an outrageous, zany commentary on the cold war and various related global events from the time. I never got past book 5, because it was so (spectacularly) unpopular, my local comic shop never bothered to stock the 6th, even if I ordered it specially.

It's so great, and it needs a few more fans :(

Nicotine
I love old-school/obscure manga and anime, which I guess is strange for someone my age, but I think they're so much better then the new stuff.
Ever read any Yoshihiro Tatsumi?

I am a HUGE fan of Meitantei Conan. I can't really explain WHY I like it so much but I really do. I love the humor, the cases, the original art. ( the mangas art is better however)
I am also very much into: Loveless, Tennis no Oujisama, Kare Kano, Death note, Fruits Basket, Gravitation, GALS, One piece, X, Rahxephon, .hack//sign, Gundam Wing, Suzumiya Haruhi, Ouran koko hosutobu, Genshiken, Welcome to the NHK....and so on. XP All for different reasons.

ALL HAIL BRITTANIA.

Recent favourite anime:

Lucky Star fed my pseudo-otaku needs, while showing that the first episode doesn't necessarily reflect the whole season. Suzumiya Haruhi no yuutsu provide me with laughs, entertainment and some intelligent thoughts. TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN GAVE ME SHEER MANLINESS. Code GEASS is sophisticated action with Pizza hut supporting the rebellion. Well, Any KyoAni/Key animation has the power to stir up my emotions and make me nearly cry (nearly because I'm so tsundere and cold :P), truely wonderful. School Rumble is my favourite adaptation of a manga I've seen in a while.

And that's my favourite manga as well.

I'm not as big into anime as I used to be years ago. Simply because the anime business is just 'bleh' to me. But I do have a few favorites.

Dragonball Z
Yeah Yeah, I know this one isn't the most praised amongst people but I just love the big explosions, transformations and the heroes.

Samurai Champloo
From the get go, I was in love with this show. The main character Mugen pulls off this certain look and style. It's griddy, it's bloody, and there are some really cool fight scenes in it. The humor and cultural references are good too.

Death Note
I recently just got into this. It's a more mature anime than others. The story is great, and the pacing couldn't be any better. Every episode always leaves you wanting more. The art style is really great, not your typical bright colored, big eyes, doofy child-like animes. The character interactions are great too.

The Boondocks
I don't know if you'd want to consider it an anime or not but I like it. It's about time we had a really good black cartoon. The humor and cultural references are awesome, especially in Season 2. They're not afraid to touch certain subjects. You have to love those cameo appearances and parodies by/of famous celebrities such as Lil Wayne, Kat Williams, and 50 Cent. As an African American, I just feel happy that there is a show like The Boondocks on tv.

Cowboy Bebop
It's one of the more mature animes that you just love.

Avatar
Again, I don't know if you'd consider this an anime or not but I like it. It's one of the best cartoons Nick has shelled out in years.

My favorite Manga has GOT to be Aria. It is probably the only manga I've found that gives me a genuinely warm and fuzzy feeling. Childish innocence combined with breathtaking artwork is one of my influences as far as wanting to make comics goes. The stories aren't depressing. Some might think the plots are naive and shallow, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Seeing that Tokyopop is printing both Aria and its prequel Aqua makes me quite happy.

This is the best American TV cartoon in years period. Hell, offhand I just can't name any TV adventure cartoon series which even comes close to Avatar. None.

The most memorable episodes, for me, all occurred in season 1, all involving Katara. Let's see... the episode where she led the pack to go free the Earth slaves on the ocean rig... the episode where she learned from the Northern Tribe water master... and the episode where she fought Zuko at the Northern Tribe sacred pond. She was my fav Avatar character. A combination of Princess Nausicaa and Princess Leia.

Where did she stray off my fav character spot?
(1)She started to like Aang. Puh-leeze. I know he's a nice kid with lotsa heart but PLEASE. There is NO chemistry of that sort. I hope to God she's just a bit confused by puppy/brotherly love.
(2)The Zutara ship has sunk. These 2 just belong together. There is just so much pent-up chemistry between them if the writers just use it. Everybody sees it. Half the Avatar fanbase in the USA sees it. But because this is a kids' show, they won't use it. Here's to hoping that they'll find each other again once they're both older.

Yes! I love Project A-ko! You could probably go right down the line of old Streamline and CPM VHS releases, and I'll approve of almost every one.

...except for MD Geist. That was poo poo.

I'd have to go with Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, the Airplane! of anime. I figured it wouldn't go over very well in the U.S., since you'd have to be well acquainted with the history of Japanimation to get the reference gags, but I'm sure in Japan they laugh at Bo-7 as much as us Americans laugh at Family Guy.

Well, my all time fave would be any of the Street Fighter manga from Udon.
Right now I'm reading the Street Fighter III Ryu Final Book 1. I still need quite a few books from that. But it's really interesting how they interpret the characters. I'm pretty sure that throughout the story, Ryu is the main character. At least, that's what I got from it.

I love the artwork, and the storyline is just amazing.

Then Rurouni Kenshin.
Super awesome artwork, awesome characters, awesome story, even has some history in it. Great.

One Piece
Awesome everything. Seriously one of the most addicting manga out there.

And that's it.

If you liked Vampire Hunter D and Ninja Scroll, you'll like Highlander: The Search For Vengeance.

If you are also a fan of Highlander 1, and the TV series, you'll effin' love Highlander: The Search For Vengeance.

It's better than Highlander 2, 3, 4, and 5 put together.
