Oh Gosh. I'm scared now.
And this may sound rediculous, but Half Life 2 for 360 does it in for me. I'm very squemish around bugs, and once I was watching my dad play, and he had just finished beating this giant ant thing(it was scary enough as it is.) and then he turned around in the game, and another giant bug, whom is his friend(he used hypnosis on it) was right behind him. Well, I screamed like it was in real life, and it started him shooting at it and screaming like me. Then he realized. I always scream when I'm watching him play :P

Silent Hill, specifically part 2. Its just such a creepy atmospheric nightmare. You hear a baby cry, you go over to look, nothing. You walk out away from it, it cries again louder. You go look, and some kind of monster with two assholes attacks you. You've got limited ammo to fight with, so what're you supposed to do now? Run like a bitch.
The one that got me on edge the most was DOOM 3. It got so bad that I just got to every room I went in, I psychotically screamed and rushed the monsters with my chainsaw.

I just played the F.E.A.R. demo. It was pretty scary but I actually spent the whole time laughing. Then when it was time to sleep that's when I started to see Alma. Everywhere. Seriously, they overdid that. I heard she can be found like forty different times.

You know, no game has ever been able to affect me like movies can. I don't know why. I guess I don't sink as deeply into them as I do a movie. But certain games have been able to give me the willies while I'm playing them at least. Doom3 was one of them.
It used to be that some games could give me strange dreams the night after I played them. Like, after I played Wolfenstein 3D (the original) for the first time, I had strange dreams of being hopelessly lost in mazes. Dragon Warrior 2 made me dream about endless caves and fetch quests.
I'm still hoping they'll make a game that can keep me scared even after the console's turned off.

Resident evil 3 scared the crap outta me when i was younger. Most likely because Nemesis was running after you and growling the word "S.T.A.R.S" all the time. Silent hill 4 was also a little spooky, those damned ghosts that did not die. When you pinned them to the ground with the sword, they made a strange gurgling noise.. ahh yes good times xD I want to play Rule of rose, but sadly i can't find it in any shops, dammit. I never completed Project zero, just a tad to creepy that you only have a camera as a weapon " Say cheese poltergeist"

Are you British or American? If you're a Brit then Rule of Rose was banned from being distributed here, so you won't find it in any shops.

I don't play many horror games myself, besides the Galerians series if that even counts (Psychic survival, minus the horror), but I do remember this:
I'm a very jumpy person. The game in question is 'Fatal Frame', but it's called 'Project Zero' over here in Britain. I wasn't playing it myself - I was watching my friend play it. At first I found it quite interesting, what with the gameplay and how you could get information on the ghosts you captured...
But oh. My. God. In the first level, when that ghost suddenly leaps out at you from behind the door... My friend was playing it from the camera-view as well, so all I saw was this freaky as hell ghost face leaping straight at the camera.
And, God, Silent Hill. I saw the FMV where that freaky woman swallows 'God', aka red-pulsing-disgusting-object-which-she-almost-chokes-on.
I will never touch any of those games again.

Heh, I've been considering playing Project Zero, so at least I know what's coming now! And don't get put off by someone eating god, Silent Hill is really very good.
Speaking of weird games, I get very unsettled playing Forbidden Siren 2. It's probably the prospect of having enemies which you can't kill and being armed with an umbrella which does it. Still, I feel strangely fearless driving in to them in the car...

My mom is the one playing horror games at our house, but yeah, Project Zero/Fatal Frame was creepy. Especially the first one where you actually had to take GOOD photos of the ghosts. And the freaky seeing-things-from-a-closet places.
I loved that game. The other two were good, but not as scary somehow.

Oh my goodness gracious. I was playing Psychonauts and I went into Millas Dance Party looking for figments I missed and I found a ledge with one on it. Then I went into the room and there was a vault with Millas Children story in it. And there were cradles. Then I went into the toy chest and found all those demons saying Why did you let us die. Save us Milla. And other various scary statements. That almost gave me nightmares. I was so freaked out at it.

I don't know why, but when I was younger, Myst would scare the shit outta me. Whenever I heard a footstep noise or a board creak I would just quit the game.

Clocktower scared me a little, until I stabbed that hand to death with a pen. (I mean, come on, how could you be scared after something as hilarious as that?) Also the parts of Max Pain (is that how you spell it?) where he was having the dreams about his family dying. The baby crying in the background freaked me out. Then I stopped being scared of that after four freakin' hours of falling into the bottomless pit thing when you have to follow the trails of blood to find the floor. I screamed "FUCK FUCKING FUCKER FUCK!!!!" then stopped caring about the screaming baby in the background.

Yes I know that this game is retarded. It's also fun for some retarded reason.

THE MERCHANT IS A PEDOPHILE.
"WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLCOME TO MY PENIS"
He's better than the sad little girls that you always have to save. The scariest one I played had to be the original Doom for the ps1 when I was between 4 and 5 years old.
Your head comes up a little way up his leg and the rockets are huge. It gave me nightmares.

I thought that the sequal to Clock Tower was a poor excuse for a horror game.

>.> <.< I'm scared, and still am sometimes, of any Zombie level in Timesplitters... Especially Future Perfect with the Deerhaunter... Whenever a friend would come over and select it, I'd cover my ears because I have nightmares about his voice... Seriously, I'm that wierd.
Yet I play games like Resi 4 and Fatal Frame and nothing...
"The moose is loose!"
Go on, just try tying this guy onto the roof-rack of your sports utility vehicle.
It has no skin, hooked arms and hooves... o.o

Not really a console game (that I know of) but "Call of Cthulu" is one game that I play that freaks me out. It is hard to play that one at night. The most frightening aspect of it is the shear emptiness of the streets. It plays on horror like horror should be done. You are more scared of what you DON'T run in to, my heart was pumping. :)

I always shoot the person your supposed to save at least once. They shouldn't have been stupid enough to get caught in the first place. Take Ashley from Resident Evil 4, she doesn't exactly fight back when your not controlling her she just lets herself get carried off shouting "LEON!...HELP ME, LEON!!!". Now if I just sit there sitting there trying to cover my on back from Dr Im-wearing-a-burlap-sack-on-my-head-and-Im-going-to-scream-and-decaptitate-you-with-a-chainsaw, she'd be taken away (GAME OVER) or I'd have Leon's head sliced off from his shoulders (ALSO GAME OVER). Why don't they let you give her a gun? The characters always carry more than one anyway?

Myst, believe it or not. I was pretty young at the time. I just got puzzled by the... alone-ness of it all.
The nightmares were the unfortunate side effect. (And the main problem.)
I have since beat Myst, Riven, Myst III, and Myst IV. Ha, Ha, Ha. Without getting any nightmares.
