I just got a 360 and I'm planning getting the Wii, though I'll probably wait a while.

I don't really have any desire to get a PS3 when they come out.

Maybe after the first price drop.

I'm also doing that other comic "Space Waffles ".
We now have a podcast called The Random Pirate Comics Show!

Well, I'm not sure of any other differences.

There is a compact flash slot and possibly some other slots for storage formats. Nothing for the old memory cards, though.

Wii for me. I'm a nintendo fanatic all the way no matter what. But I will get a PS3 someday. When the price for it is down enough for the cheap bastards too buy them.

So, anybody preorder a PS3? Gamestop and EB started (and finished) taking preorders today.

I'll have to wait until after the holiday season, I guess. I'll probably have more money then, anyway. At least there are some games on the PS2 which can hold me over until then. The 360 really isn't cutting it for me. It's been a year and they still don't have anything worth playing. This holiday season is looking pretty sparse, as well.

You DO still have a chance this holiday season, since there are some stores that are simply not taking preorders. I think Best Buy is one of them. But I guess it may take a bit of camping. Then again, I'm sure some stores that DO take preorders will get additional shipments as well.

I noticed a surplus in my bank account yesterday and I suddenly thought, "You know, I could afford a PS3. Or an Xbox360." But I put that idea out of my head. I don't dare get a launch PS3, and the 360 has no titles that really grab me yet. I'm sure I'll be waiting half a year for the Wii.

You're right, there are a lot of titles coming around right now that don't need a next-gen system. I'm even considering picking up a cheap or used PS2 to play Okami and Shadow of the Colossus.

Do it. I have both of them, and both are jaw-droppingly beautiful. Okami in particular is downright amazing.

Problem is, I don't want to wait outside the store overnight just to get a launch system. I talked to the guy at my local EB. Apparently people were doing that just for the preorders. They sold out shortly after opening the store. I just don't have that level of determinaton, especially for an untested system that costs $500 - $600. I may wait until I get my tax refund later this winter, it should be more than enough and the systems won't be so hard to find by that time (if I could find the 360 in stores as early as mid January after the launch, the PS3 shouldn't be a tough find come this February).

Depending on the reviews of the new Zelda game, though, I may look into the Wii at launch. Since the Gamecube version was delayed, it will likely be out on the Wii a full month earlier.

PSU is a major downgrade for me, so I'll pass. The single player is short from what I hear and with no offline multiplayer (funny how a supposedly next gen system can't handle four player split screen on a game made for the PS2), it isn't worth it on the 360. Plus the 360 network is not connected to the larger PS2 and PC network which means you're stuck with the Halo kiddies. I'm also not too fond of paying monthly fees for online games which aren't MMOs. Gears of War looks slow and fairly generic to me. Even the graphics aren't all that. I'll definitely wait on a review before buying into that hype. If I want the Darkness (which I don't, really) I'll get it for the PC. No point in spending more for a game that will look better on my PC, anyway.

Similar question this time:

Wii preorders just opened up for EBgames and Gamestop. Anybody preorder a Wii?

I think I'll eventually get one, but not til some time in 2007.

I pre-ordered a Wii. I've seen more things I'm excited for in the Wii library than what the PS3 is offering so far and what I've already seen come out for the 360 in so many months.

Plus, one can't ignore the infinite potential for penis jokes...

Hey, if any of you are able to snag a PS3 (and aren't selling it on eBay), keep us posted. I'm interested in what you think about it.

If I could ever afford one, then I would get myself a Wii for Super Smash Brothers: Brawl and Metal Slug Anthology.

...Or I could go to my friend's house and play with his Wii (I know it sounds dirty, so shush), if he ever gets one.

Nobody got a PS3? I guess I can't blame ya... They're in short supply.

But the Wii launched. Anybody get one of those? Care to give us your impressions?
I played the Wii at a store yesterday and I enjoyed it. I'm still waiting til later to get one, but it's nice to know the controller works.

Wii isn't any easier to find. While there are more available, the supply of Wii systems isn't so much greater than the PS3 that you'll find any before Xmas. If you can, I'd be seriously worried about the future of the system.

The Best Buy out here doesn't let you play anything on their demo Wii. Hell, all they have is a video of how the controller works. It makes me wonder why they even have a system on display, they could play a video just as easily on a regular TV with a cheapie DVD player. The PS3 seems to be demoing Motorstorm. It looks better than I anticipated (as in I like the track design, sense of speed, and the gameplay), but I still doubt it's something I would buy. Shelves are empty around here, though, so it will be a while before I get to try out any of the systems with games I want to play.

The local EB had a wii for demo, you just had to leave some collateral (a driver's license and a credit card) to make sure you didn't run off with the controller. They had ExciteTruck up for display (lame), but it gave you a chance to see some of what the controller's capable of. Doesn't work great, though; the turnings a bit too sensitive for casual play. You can tell that the graphics aren't as good as the PS3 or the 360, but they're not "bad" by any means; just not as polished. I guess that's part of the price difference.

You know, I had a tough time steering my first race. I just kept oversteering. But in my second race I started to catch on... and in the third race I was doing really well. Excite Truck still feels like a standard-fare racer with a steering gimmick, but the steering does work when you get used to it. It's one of those fun "rental" games.

a few friends of mine have a wii, just haven't had the chance to get over and try it.

soon..soon.
I almost never buy first generation systems. they are often too buggy. wait a year...bit of a price drop and i'm happy.
Screw the money! I have RULES!
