I know Skool mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I'll recommend it as well

http://www.drunkduck.com/FRANKENSTEIN__Her_Majestys_Secret_Service/

My only reservation about that one (speaking as a comic reader and not as an admin mind you) is that the art is really stiff, it's looks like poser or something that's been filtered. People's feet are wrong a lot of the time; but mostly it can make the pages look a bit lifeless... it's been better though lately. It's a unique concept and there's a lot of style there, but I think some execution problems. Still, I'll be following it :]

Skool the guy who writes that comic favourited mine, so I say feature him!
His comic is a lot of fun and certainly more original then many on DD.
I've certainly never seen one like it before.

I dont have one Angry_black_guy but he said "great, I am going to fav this" and then my number of people favouriting me went up by one.

Mlai, you seem to be arguing that Frankenstien is not a very original comic.

No, I'm just saying that you sounded like you want more types of comics like that, to read and enjoy, i.e. gritty noir re-invention of classic Hollywood monsters.
So I gave you some titles in that approximate genre.

Oh right! Sorry, I got the wrong end of the stick. I questioned it because it seemed a bit odd that you would start laying into Frankenstien all of a sudden!

they used to have this little notifier you could download but I don't know if they have that anymore, it told you who favorited you and who updated. All it would have needed was a buzzing sound and I would have used it instead of deleted it because I didn't use it.

Yeah, but it doesn't work for a lot of folks (myself included). I get a weird error message. So I don't know how many faves I have- last time I was able to check it, The Hub was just about a month old, I was only getting 10 or 20 hits a day. I think my # of faves was, like, 7.

To make this post relevant to the topic, I'll throw in another feature suggestion:
Mixed Blessings .
It's only got 13 pages right now, but definitely worth reading/ keepin' an eye on. :)

The more I read this thread, the less I envy the admins.

There are just so many comics on DD that are really good.

Yet people have varying interest in what types of comics they like and dislike.

I personally like comics with a bunch of action and good or interesting uses of color. But I know not everyone likes that, so I couldn't just pick a action comic with great color every week for my feature.

I guess my question for the admins is "When choosing a feature, do you guys lean more towards comics you really enjoy reading, or do you truly try and find a comic that is good and will have universal appeal to a bunch of DD'ers?"

Just curious. :)

Zaymac, perhaps you should post that question on the How does a comic get featured thread, here: http://www.drunkduck.com/community/view_topic.php?tid=25367&cid=227

Eddie Jensen, are you talking about the Alerter? It tells me how many favs I have but not who faved me. Or are you talking about something else that does that? I would love to have it!

There's nothing that tells you who specifically favorited your comic- privacy concerns. But sometimes people will tell you they've faved your comic. You can also bet that your frequent commenters have faved you.

I do my best to choose a wide range of comics. Many features I never read again, after reading them through to get them up. I'm fully aware that my own tastes and preferences are an influence in firstly, locating the comic, and secondly, making it readable to me. So there's definitely a bias there but I do my best to work around it. I know I'm not a fan of gag-a-day or heavily manga-influenced stuff so sometimes I deliberately seek those out.

The linked thread goes a lot more into the process :]

It doesn't really matter who favs you.
Only the number of favs, since that is the measure of how much of a following you have.
Also, lots of people say they are faving you before they do it, so that is a pretty big clue right there.
The only time I wonder is when some scurvy knave unfavourites me! Grrr! Then I think it is safest for all concern that I don't know!

I'm surprised how little attention AyaTakeo is getting. It's professional quality (probably because the artist is a professional, heh) with a kind of sci-fi, kind of medieval setting.

I suspect one of the reasons it's not getting more attention is because the artist isn't actively networking here on DD, so very few people are being made aware of it. I think DD may be its "secondary site" and therefore any promotional effort is going elsewhere. I may be wrong.

Either way, I agree the standard of the artwork is very professional.

I'm trying to remember if some of my favorite DD comics got featured, like Geminni or Super Temps. I'd like to see Gelotology or Death By Bunny or Rule Of Three get some attention.

I'm not concerned about whether or not DrunkDuck features TLT... but I am curious as to what image they'd pick.
