Wow, reading through all these posts makes the motivations behind MY comic seem really shallow. I just really enjoy science fiction, humor, and manga but couldn't find too many webcomics that combined the three, so I just went and made my own: Far Out There. I guess that's pretty much what megan_rose was thinking too, though, so I won't feel too bad about it.
My other comic, Conventional Wisdom has even simpler motivations. I drew some doodles about my first trip to Otakon, and my friends thought they were so funny that I started drawing comics about every anime convention I went to.

Just trying to get a few laughs with Omega Justice.
For SHELL, I'm just establishing a "superhero" for community projects to have a little bit more fun with other superhero comic fans/artists here.

Interesting replies. Although, I still see a few people getting confused with the question, "Why did you start your comic?" and "What are you trying to do with your comic?"
