Wow now I want to see this movie. Lots of blood and all that good stuff. And the way they put this easter egg in it was amazing. Still movie looks great.

I want to see a movie of this so bad. I don't care if Alan Moore objects to it. I want to hear what Rorcharch sounds like!

I hope The Watchmen gets envisioned as a Lord of the Rings-style series or HBO-style mini-series instead of getting scrunched down into one watered-down 2-hour movie. The story is way too long and involved to fit in a normal screenplay without a serious hack job.

My logic works the opposite way: I loved The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comics, so after seeing the horrible preview, no way would I ever watch the movie.

Now if they make a Lost Girls movie, I'm there.

Well I doubt that HBO think will happen, as much as I'd like it to, so I'll settle for a movie and put my trust in the director.

Yeah, as cool as that is I'd rather see Watchmen. But Watchmen would need a higher budget. And the rights to it have been owned by the studios for years.

I just recently read The Watchmen for the first time, and now that I’ve read it, I’m not really sure how they would pull it off.
There are so many subtleties to the story, I’m worried they will cut too and dumb it down too much for it to be good. Hollywood has a bad habit of ham-fisting their way through clues and connections in a story that should subtly reveal through the course of it’s telling.

And you know they’re just going to make Rorschach sound like Skull from PvP: The Series.

Nah, Rorcharch would probably have a New York accent, only always sort of monotonish and creepy. Add the mask to that and it could sound pretty cool.

My first thought was that they would try and make him sound like a deeper-voiced No Face from Dick Tracy, what with the forced raspiness and all. Anyway, I desperately want to see a Watchmen movie, but I'm Deathly Afraid that it's going to turn out like crap.

One thing that worries me is that there was a very good screenplay written for it by David Hayter, writer of the first X-Men film and voice of Solid Snake. Apparently it condenses Watchmen into a solid, three or so hour movie that Alan Moore himself recognized as perhaps the best possible way to translat the novel into film format (though he was quick to say that he still wouldn't endorse it or even watch it). Snyder apparently chose to use a different screenplay, as Hayter's was a direct adaptation of the comic (which was something of a commentary on the comics industry in the 80's) and he wants a film that comments on comics and comic films in the current market.

And sadly, that will be a big contributing factor to why it’s terrible. I hate when they try to modernize/Americanize everything.

Snyder's interview here gives me hope for the movie.

Well, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is different because it was actually a complately different movie. Seems the person who wrote the screenplay was completely unaware of Moore's book, and just also had the idea to team up a lot of classical literature figures. Someone in Warner noticed the similarities, and a few changes were made (if I recall correctly, the screenplay originally had Sherlock Holmes as the leader of the team) and 'League' was haphazardly slapped together as an 'adaptation' of the graphic novel.

Wait, is that really what happened? I thought that was an urban legend to justify how bad the movie was.

I may see the movie, only after someone who's read Watchmen, and see the movie, gives the thumbs up.
It could be like a V for Vendetta type situation - perhaps not the best adaptation ever, but a good interpretation of it... well, good enough for a 2 hour movie to be.

The best way to make any of Alan Moore's graphic novels into live format would be like a BBC Mini Series - multiple movies would be too disjointed, in that, waiting a year to see part two of something that should be a much faster pace.

Mini series would rock hard.

All in all, I hope the don't screw up Watchmen so much that it makes me stabbin angry.
