Fox, don't you think you're taking it a bit too far? Besides, a well done sprite comic is better than a poorly done hand-drawn one anyday.

Look, if you don't like them, don't read them.

Hurray, would be the first "movement" of the new duck? I'm not going to specify what kind of movement I mean either.

I'm sure this has been said many times and I will have to say it again, Commie you should realy learn how to exept sprite comics, becouse not everybody can draw and sprite comics are a nice break from drawn. I also agree that some sprite comics are poorly done, and they only have nothing with recolors and are carbon copys of bob and george and 8 bit theatre, however there are some sprite artist who put time and effort into at least edditing there characters, unlike a past sprite artist I could mention.

Why do I say Owie you wonder? Well, I work in the anthropromprphic genre which also sees alot of controversy and hatred. So in some respects yeah, owie is the word. I've read some sprite comics, some are better than others, I agree, but I've learned not to hate a genre for what it is, but just let it be what it wants to be.

I'm not a sprite artist but I am an artist that deals with a much scorned genre. Hense the yelp of pain.

Um. I think this is a parody thread.

In case it's not, I REALLY don't think it's fair to exclue any artistic medium.

I think its less a matter of "excluding an artistic medium" (oh ho ho) and more like looking at the reality of the situation.

Step 1: I look at countless comics that happen to be made using sprites ripped from video games.

Step 2: I find that these are, with 99.999335321% accuracy, HORRIBLE COMICS.

Step 3: I form the opinion that sprite comics are almost all horrible.

Wail about persecution all you want, but the evidence speaks for itself. Prove me wrong (only don't, because sprite comics suck omgwtf).

Incidentally, this simple logical chain can be used for many other genres of webcomics (manga in particular OH GOD A HORNET'S NEST AAAAUGH).

Don't like all the sprite comics on DD?

Go and give out some 1's then. Finding justification should be EASY.

Gee wizz I just love generalizations mister!

Using this chain of logic I will look at Rob Liefields work and determine that all superhero comics suck!

And then I will look at some crappy fantasy comic and determine that all fantasy comics suck!

And then I will look at all comics and find that many of them suck, so comics in general suck! Yay!

Well I looked at countless sucky comics to come to the final conclusion I did. And besides, just my ommiting of the word 'countless' doesn't automatically justify your argument, it just lets you counter with a retort. Which of course gets us no where at all.

Now you did say "Almost all sprite comics suck." That's better than making the generalization that they ALL suck. But of the ones that do... that's because of their creators. I'm sure pleanty of sprite comics, or any other type of comics for that matter, would be much better if not for their creator's faults in writing, etc. . So don't hate the visual style because of the crappy writing that many of these artists do, and especially don't discount a whole genre.

Of course, Jester, you did a pixle art comic a while ago anyway, so you know that good writing+low pixled characters doesn't always equal bad things. This crappiness does seem to be a trend though.

Anyway my overall message is to be accepting of the many genres that are out there.

Sprite comics... like in the case of my two "lo-art" comics, Knock on Wood and Awesome Opossum, the burden is on the author to make the writing AMAZING. Otherwise... you're left with a comic that has mediocre art and a crappy story that nobody will read.
