I have absolutely no idea how they hope to make this work.
As far as Warhammer goes there is only war and no story of what happens in the daily lives of civilians. I must say that although Im a fan of warhammer and RPGs, is there any chance that this will turn out good?

Any thoughts?

I suppose you've never read the novels, then. :/
Warriors of Ultramar gave a pretty good impression of how regular people live, even if it was, for the most part, street gangs tearing each other to bits and running away from Tyranids.

Considering that GW just gave Black Industries the axe I don't think you need to worry too much about whether Dark Heresy would work or not.

It works surprisingly well and it's a shame that BI got the axe. The rulebook and the design are top-quality. It's not just 40K that got the cut either, it's all the RPG side of things including: Warhammer Fantasy (again)

I saw the original get canned so this didn't come as a shock.

The last books out for Dark Heresy will be:

Purge the Unclean: Adventure.
Inquisitor's Handbook: Sourcebook with new careers including: Adepta Sororitas.
Disciples of the Dark Gods: Sourcebook on chaos and cults.

Plus supplemental web materials for a month after the last book in September.

If you have any interest at all in it, the core book looks as though it's on one print run only. :(

Pretty bad for a game that sold out the £65 Collector's Edition, 200 books in 6 minutes. Then sold out the core rulebook from Amazon and so on in a week. I gave up trying to make sense of Games Workshop a long time ago though.

yearh its a shame that the core rule book is now nowhere to be found... fortunately the rules do exist online, but its not the same :(

However I am sceptical regarding the class advancement they have added into the book, because essentially once you have chosen a class you only have two choices.

For example if you play adept you can only become either a sage or a loremaster. I feel this is much too limited. However it is cool that your "rank" changes as you level.

Yeah. That whole thing threw me for a loop as well, compared to Warhammer Fantasy where you could jump around the careers.

I believe they had a plan (perhaps it'll appear in the Inquisitor's Handbook) of allowing you to go to an Inquisitor career once you'd reached the pinnacle of your current.

It is a shame though, since I felt it had a lot of potential.

Well I hope they take it to a new level in the Inquisitors handbook or something. I feel that the current career system does not give credit to the rest of the book.

I know from reading a few threads in the BI forums, the book's featuring quite a few new careers including the Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle) and there were rumours that it had rules for taking your Inquisitors to the next stage of their development.

Until they crack more information open regarding that we're left in the dark until the release in June.

Many of my gaming cohorts have said however similar, they felt that the career system was not as good as the one presented in Warhammer Fantasy. They certainly made it a little more complex to actually design your own careers for the game now, yet they did open up numerous routes for customising your characters.

It seems the axe has been halted, FFG are an excellent company as well. Their RPG: Midnight, is one of the best fantasy d20 RPG's I've had the pleasure of running recently next to Warhammer Fantasy itself.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a dark gritty world where Chaos gnaws upon the edges, festering in the shadows and it's not all happy elves and bright sugar-faeries.

Midnight on the other hand, imagine if Sauron had won in Lord of the Rings. It's a dark and dangerous world where being an elf is punishable by death, where reading and writing are outlawed, magic is forbidden and martial training is also considered to be forbidden.

Unlike many fantasy rpgs over the years, it's not the traditional good Vs. evil, save the kingdom from the darkness. It's about survival and keeping out of the way of the servants of the dark god Izrador.
