I think Buffy should kill all these vampires.
And then someone should kill Buffy... just incase.

Oh Bloody hell. Forget Buffy. The real Vampire slayer is Stephenie Meyer. She managed to single handidly turn the whole race into emo boys...
THAT SPARKLE!

I looked it up, apparently it's based off a book written 14 years before the first twilight novel.
I suppose this is what Twilight ripped off and now that vampires are cool the TV networks went looking for someway to cash in on it and found this.

Tanman2Please GODS no. Vampires have ALWAYS been romantic/sex related creatures in literature, right down to stuff like Lilith. -The biblical Lilith.

Zombies are for hipster teens and shitty internet fan-fiction. They're 10x worse than vamps could ever be.

Vampires have been emo since Anne Rice got her hands on them. She singlehandedly created modern Goth culture.
Zombies are ok in specific situations and small doses.
I'm waiting to see what the media's next big supernatural creature is going to be.

Except Lilith sucks a lot more than blood, if you know what I'm saying (high five!)
EDIT: Also the assumption that she was the first "vampire" is shakey at best, although her mythology is rad as fuck. If anything she was more of a succubus and a baby killer.

I don't know, I could really see a 24-esque zombie show working pretty well. I don't know how well it would do after a season, but I could definitely see one good season. Maybe that's what they need to do for the next season of 24. The formula has gotten stale, get rid of the government conspiracy crap and go for the zombie apocalypse.

Werewolfs are awesome!!!
Sure, they can transform only once in a month, but at least they don't go down with garlic, crosses and wooden stakes (yeah, the modern "crosses don't do nothing"...yeaaaah.... no). With the current prices of silver, they are kinda hard to kill.

Good lord, they're everywhere since Twilight...
Oh yeah...and next will be modern-day elves, of course.

I dunno, I gotta go with isukun on that... especially if it was just one season. EVERYTHING about vampires is tired and derivative. It's gotten just plain boring.. if old ideas are going to be mined for shit like this, why NOT zombies? They haven't been played out, they wouldn't become irritatingly fashionable, and quite frankly IT COULD REALLY HAPPEN.
It would definitely have to be a single season show though... wasn't that originally the case with 24?
you know why birds don't write their memoirs? because birds don't lead epic lives, that's why. who'd want to read what a bird does? nobody. that's who.

Isn't zombies a little bit overplayed already too?
Sure, not like vampires, but there has been a fair amount of zombie movies in the recent years, and, at least where I live, Resident Evil series was pretty popular even outside the Gamer niche...
However, I do agree that a real time zombie series could be pretty cool...
Hey, why not think big and go for the Lovecraftian Mythos?

As much as I'd love to see a realtime Lovecraftian show, zombies are decidedly cheaper and more TV friendly. Just get some dark sets and a bunch of extras willing to wear some facepaint and bam, you're golden. I'd hate to see Lovecraft get the "scifi original picture" treatment.

And like most MTV shows which aren't reality series these days, it will probably end up getting pushed to a 2AM time slot after the first week. Yeah, I'm a little bitter after they did that to the show I worked on.

I agree about Lovecraftian myhos being less TV friendly than zombies but I don't think that its more expensive.
Considering that Lovecraft's narrative deals with more psycological kind of terror (at least when it comes to The Call of Cthulhu), I would think that dealing with some really creepy dudes chanting "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" with some great atmospheric ambientation and some creativity with the camera and music could work better with a less than ambitious budget.
And if Jaws and Cloverfield teach us something, is that a monster works better when is barely seen...Cthulhu should make feel its prescence, but never actually being seen.
And about the Teen Werewolf...Just, for the love of Crom, DONT PUSSYFY WEREWOLVES!!!

Hey, why not think big and go for the Lovecraftian Mythos?
Every couple of decades it seems that a zombie boom is likely to come along. The 80's brought us the "Night" sequels and unofficial spinoffs. In the early part of the 00's zombies picked up again with the introduction of the "fast zombie". There was a whole stretch of zombie flicks and zombie-like monsters for a good chunk there. They seem to be dying out now: relegated largely to "accetable targets" for enemies in videogames yet again.

Dark PascualEh, his style is just a rehash of the popular British ghost/horror writing style that's still popular today. And because of that there have been heaps of great TV shows with that sort of theme. Even the original Doctor who had its share.
Lovecraftian myhos
Giving the stuff the actual "lovecraft" name though would give it some nice recognisable branding.
