So, I bought Valkyrie Profile 2 the other day. I just finished playing the PSP port of the original and thought I'd give this one a try. For the most part, I like it. The voices are pretty good, but, sadly, not nearly as good as the first game's voices. It's kind of wierd to play sidescrolling game with 3-D graphics. I have mixed feelings about the battle system. On one hand, it allows for tactical thinking that the first game didn't have. On the other hand, there are times where I feel that it's not challenging enough.

Over all, I like it.

Valkyrie Profile 2 was nothing then a huge dissapointment for me. I absolutelutely loved VP 1 (I consider VP 1, Suikoden 2, Star Ocean 2 and Saga Frontier to be the best rpgs I've ever played) but VP 2 had way too many flaws.

Firstly, what the hell were they thinking when they made generic einhejers??? So what if theres like 40 of em? They're all the frickin same! I would have much rathered like 10 - 20 einhejers who were all unique, like how VP 1 did it.

The battle system was a mixed bag for me, sure it allowed for a lot more tactical decisions, but it really interrupted with the flow of the game and lacked the fast pace of the original.

Though on the bright side, at least the story was pretty good

Yeah, the generic characters were kind of dissapointing. No more tragic death scenes.

It's kind of interesting that Dipan is a major plot point in this one, seeing as it was optional in the first game.

Yeah, the whole emphasis on Dipan was pretty cool

Because I created GR about 10 minutes after I started playing VP1 years ago, I feel very strongly about it. If I had to support only one title, vp would be it.

I do like vp2, but it loses the edge. I don't want to give away anything, but you can tell something is off because LEZARD is in it!

Maybe if I actually liked any of the einherjar I would have played with other than the 'living' characters. Don't only do we not have the 'tragic death scenes', but...we don't really know much about them, except for the blurb. They never come on screen and interact with the plot, except for Minevera (I can't remember his name...the first mage).

The feeling of being utterly alone is gone. Lenneth was in solitude, yet she had many souls within her. Alicia has...a split personality/silmeria, the Einherjar she has never seen and ALOT of living people helping her out.

And the voices suck. They just do. And I mean the voices that connected to vp1. Lenneth sounds too airy...she was strong, commanding-hell, she was a battle maiden! Sames goes for Freya...I shouldn't feel like I could slap her and get away with it!!

Wow...that went on longer than I thought. Oh well :P
