600 pages of my comic, Used Books , are now online for all (or, anyone interested) to see. Used Books was honored with the DrunkDuck Award for "Most Improved Comic" (which I think mostly has to do with my "early" work, but I still consider it an honor ;) ).

I'd like to thank my handful of regular readers for all their encouragement over the last year and a half. For anyone else, I'd encourage you to read the synopsis etc. in this post and check it out if it sounds like your kind of thing.

The story is set in modern time several years after a powerful crime syndicate fell. The main characters are three women who are best friends and have unusual past ties that they gradually discover. One worked for the syndicate, another's parents were victims of it, and the third is an ex-cop who played an important role in bringing it down. The story is written in short chapters/episodes. The plotlines are inspired by a mixture of classic murder mysteries, crime drama, and classic sitcoms. My readers have called it mystery, noir, adventure, and drama.

The art is mostly a B&W sketch style with digitally colored pages at the begining of each short chapter. I'm basically a writer who is stuck drawing my own stuff due to my lack of friends (specifically, artistic ones), so if your comic viewing desires are about spectacular art, this isn't for you. -- I think the art is serviceable, and I do put in my full efforts.

Used Books updates M through F and is still going through the 750-some pages I have already scanned, so it won't go "dead" any time soon. If you like a good story, don't mind the "devolping" art, and are game for a long archive and frequent updates, you might get into it.

One final note: To make navigating the archives easier to navigate and a bit more fun, I have created a thumbnail directory for the chapters. It can help my established readers quickly find chapters they might want to reread/scan and can let new ones skip the unbearable early art (as desired) if they choose to brave the archives.

(Btw, I post links to important plot points as needed in my author notes, so braving the archives isn't necessary. ;) )
