I was wondering, could they come straight off the computer or do they have to be off of a website. I'm not sure how to work this.

You're going to have to hotlink it right from a website when posting images on the forums. It can't be straight from your computer as we don't have access to it. :)
Try using the following to host your images:
http://www.photobucket.com
http://imageshack.us [imageshack.us]
Or if you want to show your DD comics, you could hotlink from that too. :)
