ugh i cant get my avatars to work

everytime i try to put an avatar on my account it says that bmp is not supported, but the problem is that i cant get any of my pictures to save to anything else. >.< its frustrating!

What image editing program are you using? There should be a dropdown menu if you go into "Save As", try saving it as a gif or jpg?
