I have some friends that would like to keep updated on my comic as I add more pages, I currently have four, but I cannot find my comic whenever I do a search for it. Is there some requirement to be a 'searchable' comic?

I don't think there is. Just wait around until the database catches up with you. You could also just send them the URL of your comic... They could click the rss button on your comic too. There's even a link under all comics where you can "e-mail" it to a friend. Lastly, they can sign up for a DD account and add the comic to their DD favourites.
