HBO trademarked a True Blood game. What's the deal with that anyway, how would that game play? Opinions?

the current page of Splash Damage is related to this, so go read it.

True Blood is a retarded show and any licensed game is prob. gonna be just as good as a licensed Buffy or Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen game

check out the latest issue of Tater and Farce's Video Game Assfuck Jamboree, its not related to this but it IS about the Brutal Legend demo so there you go

How the hell would that work? My sister loves that show so I'm probably gonna be getting it when it's out. I have never actually watched a full episode, but isn't True Blood a drama?

Could end up a bit like Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines I guess but I can't see it being a quality title. TV to Video Game has worked about as well as Movie to Video Game, it's just a cheap way to cash in on a popular show without effort.

Could be a point and click game. Those have been having a teeny tiny comeback lately.

I think it could work, so long as the first puzzle involved beating yourself into unconsciousness with a brick so that you don't have to play the rest.

Oh. That does sound horrible.

I'd rather play that Dexter game. Now there's a show you can, sink your teeth into.

Yes, well done.

Its like a TV show version of Twilight, except it's just boring to watch. Twilight had being hilariously bad to it's advantage.

I wonder if there will be a mini game where you have to try and avoid falling into the gap between Sookies front teeth.

As much as the pun killed a small part of my soul I do agree the Dexter game could be interesting, I can see how they could put gameplay behind that. I just hope they don't get bogged down in the plot and instead focus on the stalking/killing (as much as I love the show for it's story I don't know if it would fit into a game very well)

I think it's more fair to say that Twilight is a shorter, more vapid version of True Blood, since the True Blood books are older than the Twilight Books and the TV show started before the Twilight movie came out.

Anyway, I actually do enjoy True Blood. It's a bit slow paced at time, but aside from Bill and Sookie (the, uh... main characters with the most screen time) the cast is really fun and interesting. I have no idea what kind of game you could turn it into, let alone a good one.

True Blood isn't neccesarily a bad show. It's a good show, you just have to follow it. And calling anything with vampires in it Twilight is really ignorant. True Blood is vampires with blood and sex and violence and frequent nudity, how vampires should be.

That game is still going to suck tho...

I can't see this working as a game but, in contrast to others here, I'd rate True Blood as one of the best shows on TV right now.

It's clever, it's witty, it has engaging characters, moments that make you laugh out loud and some genuinely surprising plot developments. Definitely on my highly recommended list (but still not video game material!)

Someone
laugh out loud

Thats exactly what I'm doing to your post.

EDIT: Reason being is that "in contrast" there are plenty of shows with more wit, better characterization, and plot developments than Sparkling Vampire Teen Drama Jamboree.

Yeah, Twilight was laugh out loud funny for the melodrama and embarrassingly adolescent.

True Blood is not for kids. It deals with some pretty heavy themes at times and the vampires on certain levels serve as metaphors for those outside mainstream America.

I can't imagine it working well as a game. Maybe if it was extremely open-ended and more of a simulation, it could have some merit.

Lefarce, feels to me as if you're the only one hating on True Blood. I like this show, actually.
Is this the best vampire show on TV, ever? Probably not. Is this Twilight, or Interview With A Vampire II? No.

As for the game...

but with vampires.

Going back to the original point of this thread (if I remember correctly it was more about the game potential than if the show it's self sucked or not) I guess this was the logical next step for the franchise, I mean there is a serious gap in the games market for Vampire games where they are not the spawn of all evil and you have a chain gun, also with such a large fan-base when it comes to vampires, romance, and giggidy-goo'ness (pretty much every member of Deviant Art and Live Journal combined) this game could suck ass and it'll still sell well (like most movie games) so I can't blame the people behind True Blood for giving this a try.

As for what type of game, as I said before I think it may be an adventure game (because a lot of True Bloods fans are women and the TV and Games industry haven't quite grasped the concept yet that women like to play things with action in as much as guys (I know a lot more women who play WoW and Left 4 Dead than I know who play Hello Kitty Island Adventure and Nintendogs) but it would be interesting if they tried breaking into a genera like MMORPG, just to see 10,000 players named after Bill trying to cyber with the 500,000 guys who made female characters and called the Sookie395829
