His name was on that petition that was linked on the vid page. I thought this would be a fake like Mike Flowers doing that version of Wonder-wall or something. That would have been better. :(
He's a Russian and they did it for Russian TV in 1976. Apparently at the time they thought that the music to that song was good but that the lyrics sucked and sounded twee so they decided to just do a nonsense vocalisation for the performance instead.

Anyway, apparently old Eduard helps with his son's rock band now. Doing what I've no idea.

I saw that yesterday. In some ways what he did sounds appropriate to his title of "trololo man" because he essentially said "Lol, this is what you get for writing cruddy lyrics."
