Okay, 10 of my favorite games...here we go, in no particular order...
#1: Curse of Monkey Island. I feel this is the best out of the series, with great animation, brilliant writing, and Murray, the talking demonic skull. One of the best adventure games ever.
#2: Hocus Pocus. Seriously? It's a damn fun platformer, with fun music, pleasing graphics, and a decent sense of humor.
#3: The Broken Sword 1 (Circle of Blood). A great adventure game, one that actually included, you know, adventure. With a plot ripped straight out of the old serials, the only thing that hurt this game was it's lackluster ending.
#4: Max Payne. Honestly, revenge never felt so good. Noir with more than a touch of John Woo.
#5: No One Lives Forever. A wonderfully tongue-in-cheek spy game set in the swinging '60's. Action, humor, and plenty of psychedelic colors.
#6: Arcanum. RPGs don't get much more complex or better than this. A commercial flop that offers a huge gameworld, plenty to do, and a detailed story to quest through.
#7: The Secret of Monkey Island. Need I even say it? The original is still hilarious and is quite timeless. A game every adventure gamer needs to play at least once.
#8: Sonic the Hedgehog. The original, no sequels. Fast, colorful, and a '90's game all the way through. This game put Sega on the map...and pretty much killed their career. :P
#9: Traffic Department 2192. The game sucked, but the story...oh the story! This game had one of the most compelling and addictive stories I have ever seen in a computer game. Sci-fi with an attitude!
#10: Terra Nova. One of the most ignored games of all time, it mixed FMV sequences with mech-style tactical action to make for one of the most unique games of the mid-'90's.

None in particular order, kinda
1) Gran Turismo Series. When GT4 was like 2 years old, I would still pick it up and have a blast. Probably takes up like 5 slots if you include every single one of them.
2) Soul Calibur 2
3) Strikers 1945 III
4) Yoshi's Island, for the SNES, remember when Yoshi was cool? not some dumb looking dinosaur.
5) DDR, anybody?
6) Rock Band
7) Initial D (3rd and 4th Stage)

In an absolutely RANDOM order:
1. The Secref of Monkey Island (Amiga, finished it too many times to remember)
2. Simon The Sorcerer (Amiga, same as monkey island)
3. Dreamweb (same as the two above except rather than silly point'n'click adventure it had heavy cyberpunk feel to it)
4. Doom/Doom II (first as Amiga ports, later on pc usind Doom Legacy)
5. Half Life 2 (PC, finished twice)
6. Tekken 2 (psx, finished several times but I never owned it)
7. Shogo (pc, finished it 5-10 times until my pc upgrade when the bastard stopped working :( )
8. Alien Breed 3D (Amiga 1200, somewhat ugly graphics and damn hard, but fun with godmode on, haha)
9. Unreal Tournament (the first one and with bots only, pc)
10. Slam Tilt (Amiga 1200, the ONLY good pinball game EVER made, the rest is shit)
Basically games that I returned to from time to time or played constantly :)
Not sure if it is my top ten, but it's the top ten games that I remember at the moment so there you go.

I've never actually managed to complete Simon the Sorcerer. Something would always happen before I got into Sordid's tower, like the game deleting my saves or suddenly refusing to work properly.

a lot of great ones have already been said, so i'll try to come up with ones that haven't been mentioned.
1. super metroid
2. mortal kombat trilogy
3. final fantasy III/VI - the darkest one of the series, that i've played at least. i love VII to death, but it's neck and neck with this one.
4. CHRONO TRIGGER. unf.
5. legend of zelda: adventure of link (i don't care what anyone says, this one's always been my favorite)
6. goldeneye! i know i'm not the only one here who fondly remembers being holed up inside with three other friends blasting the hell out of each other.
"ARGH!! WHO SHOT ME??"
"proximity mines? god dammit."
"oh, look who's sniping like a little bitch..."
7. michael jackson's moonwalker... okay, just kidding. which nhl game was that one that was in swingers? i remember being hopelessly addicted to that one, and i don't even like sports games usually. was it '95?
8. um... if i had to pick a smackdown game, i'd have to go with... here comes the pain? i dunno, i loved that series, but i lost interest a few years ago.
9. anyone else pump enough quarters into the simpsons arcade game with their friends to beat it? i did :D
10. the warriors.. not a very popular favorite, but i loved it for two reasons - the movie is the shit, and the gameplay not only expanded on the story convincingly, but it took classics like double dragon and final fight and gave them a 3-d feel. fucking. awesome.

I've played so many systems and so many games, I'm making it a top fifteen list. I may edit it or add more if I recall something later.
In order of system:
1. Adventure (Atari2600)
- The oldest visual RPG ever. The Dragon's look like ducks, you can only hold one item, and the game only takes a half-hour to beat. It was the pinnacle of gameplay for it's time, and if you allow yourself to play it today with an open mind, it can really pull you in.
2. Final Fantasy I (NES)
- The first RPG I've ever played and one of the best. There's something so incredibly pure about it. A fantastic start to the series, even if it is hard and grindtastic.
3. Megaman 2 (NES)
- The best game of the original series. It just is.
4. Megaman X (SNES)
- While not as difficult as most Megaman games, it brought a lot of changes to the table from the original series, such as rechargeable backup tanks, armor you can find, an upgradeable health health bar, and a fresh setting. A solid title, even though the ending and subsequent sequels sucked.
5. Super Punch out! (SNES)
- A boxing game with a sense of humor. This game fulfilled my fantasy of beating up an old mustached man named Gabby.
6. Kirby's Dreamland 2 (GB )
- First Kirby game I ever played, and while it's nothing special now, it was then. Plus, who doesn't like riding a big hamster?
7. Kirby 64:The crystal shards( N64)
- Kirby with better presentation, story, and powerups. In how many videogames can you turn into a fridge that shoots food at enemies?
8. Star Fox 64 (N64)
- Best N64 game ever. No argument. Too bad every Star fox game after it sucked.
9. Harvest Moon (N64)
- It's really quite hard to describe the appeal of this game. Building a house, finding a spouse and hard manual labor was never so fun.
10. Golden Sun (GBA)
- Best handheld RPG ever. This game has almost no flaws. I liked it enough to beat it twice.
11. Final Fantasy III (DS)
- Old school NES style RPG's don't get much better. Yeah, the job system's not very evolved but at least the game doesn't randomly punish you like FF5 did.
12. Halo 2 (XBOX)
- Yeah, yeah, I know, the ending is terrible, but that didn't stop me from beating it 7 times.
13. Soul Calibur 2 (GC)
- Best soul Calibur game, best 3D fighter. The combos aren't a huge pain in the @$$ to pull off, which is nice, and it justs gets better from there.
14. Super Smash Bros. melee (GC)
- Good party game for it's time.
15. Contra III: The alien Wars (SNES)
- This game has o much testosterone, if it had pores it would leak out of them. Also, fun.
Whoo, that's a lot to read.
Edit: Also Pokemon Diamond, because I sunk 180 hours into it.

"You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process," he added. "That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle."

Oooh, that's hard since my favourites seem to change all the time...
10. Sing-Star (as ghey as it is, it's awfully fun to sing along).
9. Burnout: Revenge (incredibly satisfying to take out all of the civilian cars which the other games prevented you from doing).
8. Spyro (that game was one of my very first and it was brilliant amounts of fun).
7. Final Fantasy 7 (my first RPG ever and it was before Cloud went all annoying and emo).
6. Jak & Daxter (entertaining from start to finish).
5. Ratchet & Clank (the most imaginative weapons and the humor is great).
4. Half-Life (beats Halo any day).
3. Team Fortress 2 (awesome humor and hours upon hours of online fun).
2. Okami (amazing graphics, great fun, awesome story line and looooong).
1. Solitaire (I know, lame as it is, I pass the time nicely with it and I couldn't think of any other game, harr, harr).
