Anyone else get really nervous watching that show on MSNBC?
It never ceases to amaze me how these guys'll walk into a house that pretty much looks the same damn one everytime, getting caught.

Why would anyone get nervous? The only reason to even get nervous is if you yourself are a pederass. You're not a pederass are you?
Whats a pederass walter?
Shut the fuck up donny, you're out of your element!
I've seen some of the stuff on dateline and it cracks me up every time. These fucking guys have the most "aww man" look on their faces when they get caught. Its comedy gold.

I thought the one where the same guy got caught 3 times was pretty funny.
I think it's interesting how people thing these sting operations are entrapment. Pfft.

Ewww... This is what you guys watch on TV these days...?
Man. Eww.
It is entrapment, those pervs are idiots, and this whole thing seems quite imoral.
This is sad.
They're good looking guys too, why try for kids? Idiots!.

That was a riot Cthulhu, thanks for sharing it. Ethan and I occassionally watch "To Catch a Predator." (Heck, at 4:00am, it's either that or Girl's Gone Wild infomericals.) I don't know how Chris Hanson can stomach even talkin' to some of 'em. I can see the entrapment argument and I feel it is too...But, I also love the fact that these pervs preyin' on 12-15 year olds get their comeupins'.
I get a thrill when the "predators" cry.

I don't know why but I do.
I remember they got one guy twice, in two days.

Entrapment or no, people who prey on children deserve everything they get and then some.

Actually I don't believe it's entrapment.
If I remember correctly the officers that are on the other end of the line during the computer chatting have to be very specific with the things they say. Just like in a drug bust, the cops have to have the perve engage the discussion of topic of a sexual nature for them to be able to really get him and then prosecute him after they arrest him.
I think that's how it works if I'm remember it right.

Oh I think those guys are stupid, awful idiot scummy bastards.
But I'm a fair person and that's still entrapment, they're encouraging the men to behave that way all over a situation that never actually exists. All that is bad or illegal in that case is their intent, nothing else.
It's like all that rubbish about those two Pakistani business men the FBI reckoned were trying to get stinger missles to shoot down airliners, when it actually turned out it was all fabricated and all the men had agreed to do was handle a money transfer for someone who they felt was a bit crazy but could maybe make a profit out of. -in that case those men were a lot less guilty than these perverts, but still, the situation is artificial.
The trouble is that it's such a grey area really. They're horrible people for trying to do what they think they're are doing, but they never actually do anything... Seems more like people exploiting the hysteria over "internet sex predators" to make a cheap TV show out of than anything else. Heh, maybe it might be better if it was either JUST a police operation with no stupid TV show set up, or JUST a TV show with no police involvement. To have the two working together reminds me a bit of the televised state control of felons in "Running Man"

I'd agree, but these guys entered chatrooms looking for kids on their own volition. They weren't asked or coerced into going there.

That's not in dispute SpANG, in fact that's pretty much exactly what I'm saying; there's intent.
but nothing else... That's why I'm dubious about the police and media partnership. Keep it to one or the other or else the police and media actions are almost as dubious as that of the pervert's, although in a very different way.

Yeah, I do agree that it wreaks of entrapment, and I also had the thought that maybe it would just be better as a TV show that gravely embarrassed its pervert victims. But I guess if it could cause other sexual predators in the world to back off in fear that they may end up in the same situation, it could be a good thing. I don't know... It's just hard for me to have sympathy for these predators, no matter how tricky and underhanded the means of catching them.
But it kind of reminds me about how in my home state they started putting up decoy wild game (like deer and elk) near roadsides to catch roadside hunters (roadside hunting is illegal). The decoy would register gunshots and send out signals to law enforcement. Initially it seems like a good way to keep illegal hunters wary, but then you realize that probably some people who would NEVER roadside hunt under normal circumstance might take a chance with it.
I know, it's kind of redneck-ish, that's just where I grew up.

Someone needs to compile some WAV files of his quips - he's just great! My question is...you think sometimes deep down he wants to punch one of these guys?

I doubt very much that any of those arrests stick. But I don't think that's the point. That's just to sensationalize the whole thing. Heh. Good luck getting that job at the Chuck E. Cheese now, buddy. :P

The bulk of the arrests do stick. Most of the time these operations catch more then 30 people! Only a few of which are shown on TV, and on a normal weekend only 2 or 3 of the arrests are dropped.
Heres the Wiki on it, its full of cool stuff about how they set up the operation:
