Or Magical Rosy Rupee Land, or whatever they're calling it...
I heard rumors of it almost a year ago and never thought it would get released outside of Japan. But what shows up on my Amazon recommendations today? That's right. My favorite insane fairy mapseller. :)
So of course I ordered it. It won't be here until next week though (something else is delaying the order).
I'm trying not to look up reviews etc of it... I don't really like RPGs so I'll probably get bored of it quickly. Plus, apparently, it's about money management and bartering, which I'm not very good at. But I'm still excited. :)

I vote Tingle as the #1 scariest character in any videogame ever. Picturing a creepy Japanese man in a tight fairy outfit who rides balloons is just...
god... it gives me the shivers THINKING about it

It'll probably never come to the United States. Gamers were polled and asked about their interest in a game featuring Tingle. Most Americans were repulsed at the thought.
But I guess not enough people in the UK had to stifle their gag reflexes, because it went there, meaning any other English-speakers can import it if they want.
I never would've been the least bit tempted to get a Tingle game, but I've been hearing good things about it. They say it's quite humorous and unpredictable, which can often be fun. But I don't know if I've heard enough to make me want to import it. Skoolmunkee, if you find it to be overwhelmingly good, be sure to tell us.

I dunno how much I'll like the gameplay, but I find Tingle vastly entertaining :)

I am vastly entertained by this game. :kitty: Tingle is much easier to bear when you don't actually have to hear him say anything, or look at close ups of him. He's just a little sprite and the biggest part of him is his head, so they gave him lots of facial expressions and weird noises. His actions are funny as well. When you go to pick up an item, he does the lunging grabby-hands (mine, mine!). If you push something he pushes it with his chest (weird). Whenever you score a big rupee reward, there's a hilarious animation where he's practically exploding with glee. His face looks like... well... he's really happy. :kitty:
The bartering isn't too bad, I printed out a page I found online that gives you the prices for most things. If I didn't have that I'd have gotten frustrated at the game pretty easily, so anyone who wants to play the game I'd recommend going to importgamers.org (or something like that) and finding the negotiation list. I didn't have a problem with running out of rupees, even with buying expensive bodyguards etc. The list really helped.
The story and NPCs are quite funny too. Most of them get weird things to say or strange facial expressions. One lady scared me because she was sewing SO HARD... she's a bit scary looking in the first place.
There are recipes you can make, and sell for money, but you don't have to. The ones I make most are the health-restore ones and the bombs. If I didn't know the haggling prices for things I'd probably have had to work harder with the recipes.
You make a lot of money in this game, which is kinda satisfying :) I like running around with a rupee counter in the upper corner that tells me I have over 100,000 rupees.... and when you get a big reward it's nice seeing big numbers. (Then you throw it all in the tower for the old man who is suspicious and probably scamming you, goodbye rupees.)
It's also lots of fun exploring the map- my favorite part of any adventure/rpg game is map exploration. There aren't too many enemies, and depending on what they are or who your bodyguard is, most of them are avoidable if you don't want to be bothered. Then you get to circle landmarks and trade in your marked-up map for more cash.
There's a couple of guys who will build bridges for you between the islands. They are very Hard Gay esque. :) They make strange gyrations and say things like 'boom, boom!' and wear aviator glasses, hardhat, and very small overalls. I really like them. :)
Also I thought from the Zelda games that Tingle never had a fairy come to him... but there's a fairy helping him in the game (through his tingle tuner, so maybe he never met one in person...) Pinkle is a babe although she's not very helpful. T_T She only tells you when the tower's going to shrink for lack of rupees (so you can hurry home and throw in some more.)
Tingle also picks up a dog somewhere along the line (also dressed in green) named Barkle. You can give him bones and he'll poop out rupees.

I'm not sure if that's the worst or greatest thing ever...
