wow. i just noticed I've spent 2 years creating my comic "dreams in synergy" that's longer than any relationship i've ever been on.
I remember starting it out when I was in nursing school and kept going as I graduated, found a job at a mental hospital and now a to a another facility as a nurse night supervisor.
and yet....I really just done 5% of the full story I wanted to tell.
so tell me what happen between the time you started your comic to now.

Life, basically. High school consumed a lot of my time with homework, projects and a social life. Last year I joined a band, which I would consider a cornerstone in my musical life.
My comic has been around for 3 years now. However, being that it went through a remake and that social and school life took up time for me, not to mention that I went on several hiatuses, I'm not as far as I should be.
The sad thing is, is that with the story I have planned, it may take me 10 years to completely finish the project. I hope I can make it that long.

I know this is going to sound puny, and you're going to laugh at me or something.
But I officially had this as a webcomic on April the 29th of this year. I started planning, and did upload pages, but they didn't work, and whatever. So I changed the official start date.
So I've been going on for about 2 months now. Wait. About a month. And in that time-span. I've completed a total of 36 pages. Which with school, and a social life, isn't half bad. Considering all the days I skipped drawing a page.
I'm just thankful that I finally got my colorist, so I don't have to use up even MORE of my free time just to do that.
And yeah. I look up at the clock, start drawing, and then when I'm done penciling the page, it's like a half hour later. I'm like "Whoa! Where'd the time go!?!"
And honestly, time did fly by. It seems like I JUST started, mostly because I haven't even completed a chapter yet *I wanted to get the Prologue over as fast as possible. I HATE drawing Prologues and stuff. I like to get down in the REAL stories and battles*

Started January 2007
Uploaded at DD starting late February 2007
~I got over my fear of sharing my stories with people.
~I learned how to draw guns, knives, cars, hands (sort of), etc.
~I got fans. Eeeee! Fans!
~I've uploaded over 500 pages and drawn over 700 -- Got a lot of story to go.
~I was pressured into trying my hand at coloring pages.
~I've colored some pages. (And they look... pretty... I think.)
~I've seen nearly all of my early commenters vanish from the face of the earth (or the internet... or at least DrunkDuck) and many of my favorite comics stopped updating, apparently abandoned forever.
~I got my masters degree and found out that a masters degree doesn't get you any jobs.
~I got my minimum wage part time deli job. But I'm soon quitting and uprooting myself to try my luck in a different state.
~I've had 31 pet rats die, and 23 were born. (It's been, like, 3 rat generations...)
EDIT (stuff that happened since June)
~Had my house robbed.
~Quit my job.
~Moved in with my parents
~Got nominated for 4 DD awards

Great topic!
-Wrote the stories for this comic in 2001.
-I started drawing this comic digitally using Adobe Illustrator in March 2006.
-Decided to go live with it in March 2007 on MySpace; Developed a modest fan base which has grown in a year.
-Decided to post here on Drunk Duck in June 2007 - Just earned my 1-year membership award; Started with a few subscribers and in a year, I now have 55 subscribers here on DD; Made a few cool friendships via collaborations too!
-Comic-wise, I'm about 5% of the way done with Better Luck Next Time. Still much growing to do and plenty of stories to tell!
Professionally, my life has been more fulfilling! Last year this time, I earned teacher of the year honors at my school - Two days ago, I won that honor again, AND it came with a Disney Teacher of the Year consideration. Come August, I will start a new job which wil take me outside the classroom and more into curriculum development.
Personally, my wife and I are starting a family! Now that's exciting!
Not a bad year - I'm blessed no doubt.

Hmm... I started my comic in late 2006, as a school project. Since then, I've drawn over 100 pages, gotten over my fear of drawing backgrounds (though I'm still not fond of drawing them), taken my first really helpful lifedrawing class, learned how to make characters' faces look different from one another, gotten over my fear of publishing pages on the Internet, convinced myself that as long as I keep getting better with each page, it really doesn't matter that they aren't perfect yet, etc., etc.
This is also, with one or two exceptions, the most time I have ever spent on a single project ever. And I think I might be, maybe, 40% done with the story I'm trying to tell - and I'm not sure about that, because I've only got the script for the next chapter and a vague plan for the chapter after that. I'm very proud of myself for sticking with it for so long, despite sometimes despairing and feeling like everything I did sucked.
As for my personal life... I've graduated school, turned twenty, lost a lot of weight, gained some self-confidence, almost gotten over my motion-sickness, am in the process of applying for college and moving out of my parents' house (fingers crossed!), broadened my horizons, etc., etc. I've done a lot of things, and I probably haven't even mentioned half of them here.

Wow... I started my comics back in January 2006. Let's see what I've done since then
- Graduated high school
- Went through two relationships
- Have read over 60 books (Most of them over 400 pages)
- Beaten roughly 40 games (Only ten I beat 100% though)
- Wrote two books and helped a friend write another (560 pages in total)
- Have so far put over 1075 pages online
- Gained over 100 readers for all my comics
- Went from drawing manga into a more cartoony style of drawing
- Have been told with a little work on my writing, I could probably outshine most of the hacks at Marvel
For Warriors of the Night, only about 12% has actually been done.
Wow, I just took a look at that list and I'm wondering how in the hell I did all that in the past 2 and a half years. I know I work fast, but holy crap! And I'm not even twenty yet.
Anyway, yeah, that's what I've done.

I started kerslash in 2005; wow has it really been 3 years!? I get frustrated because I had planned on being on the second installment by now.
Let's see:
-I had just graduated from college and was jobless, so I had lot's of free time. Kerslash actually started as a sort of warm up test before working on my "real comic". I posted what I considered at the time to be test pages on eatpoo and it got picked up by rampagenetwork . I agreed to updating once a week and the very next day, I got a full time job working in a custom frame shop and my updates changed to about 1 or 2 times a month.
-I finally reached a point where I was updating regularly, and then my computer died and kerslash went on a seven month hiatus.
-I finally bought a new laptop but my scanner didn't work with it, so there was another month long hiatus until I could afford to buy my new scanner.
-Rampagenetwork changed servers or something and I couldn't log in to update anymore, so I put kerslash on indefinate hiatus.
-I started mirroring kerslash on comicspace and drunkduck and then suddenly, rampage came back from the dead and asked me if I wanted to come back, and I did.
So 3 years later, I'm a little more than halfway finished with the first installment. It's crazy to be working on scenes that were nothing more than ideas in my head for so long, it seem like I would never get this far.

Six years is a long time...
Put around 450 pages of comics online across three comics, not including fillers or fanart or the comic remix project
Lived in a car
Graduated college
Got four jobs, was fired from two of them
Went through three cars and three girlfriends
Attended two of my friends weddings
One of them has since been divorced
Three of my friends have had kids
Moved five times
Lost forty pounds; gained sixty pounds
My parents got divorced
Both of my father's parents died
My dad built an addition to his house that doubled the size of it
Went to the hospital for stitches twice
Bought my own website

It's like I blink, and suddenly... I'm about to hit 100 comics!
(Not to mention this is my 100th post.)
Sometimes I feel like I only started TLT a few weeks ago, when in reality, I've been doing this for 7 1/2 months... wow.

Made comic dec 9th 2007, about half a year ago:
Learned much about art, web design, self-hate
Got insanely popular really fast, which was my goal.
Got featured. (And what an honor!)
Got into Top Drawer, self-hate inflicted.
Hit 50 pages
Learned liking girls isn't that scary-became more open.
Celebrated 700,00 hits with fans, will celebrate 1mil in about a month.
Two weeks ago started to re-do first 10 pages people complain about.

WOW Skullbie.....incredible progression. Consider me impressed!!
I came up with Engine while working at A K-Mart doing Night stock in 2001. I worked on a few panels, during breaks and lunches. I tried launching it as a comic series in 2002 (2003?), but my initial numbers were so abismal, I cancelled and let it sit, working on it here and there until late 2007. Now, it is in a form, totally different than what it was, was featured after only a month of it debuting on Drunk Duck, and is now at the printer as a 104 page graphic novel. I feel like I've been preggers for 7 years, and have finally gotten the kid out of my system!!
7 years have passed pretty quickly. Time does fly for sure!!

Since I started the first version of The Golem Project (Arswyds)...
-I've graduated to sixth form at my high school.
-I've taken two sets of AS level exams.
-I've missed doing an art AS level two years running. (¬_¬ Not such a great one..)
-I've decided to do an animation deghree instead of a scince degree when I fnish my A-levels.
-I've started to de-mangafy my drawings.
-My dad had two strokes. (Another one tht wasn't so great.)
-My team one the national Question Time competition. (Yay!)
-I finally worked out how to computer colour without pages looking awful.

Wow, I dived into the comicking business at April 2006, when I was fourteen. Oh, what I scamp I was. Now let's see...
- Decided I was not cut out for social life
- Went to Malaysia and New Zealand
- Discovered 4Chan
- Ran away from 4Chan
- Started getting really interested in anime and manga
- Dabbled in voice acting
- Became a moderator for some website. Drinking Dog or something.
- Got Pokemon Pearl (obviously an important one)
- Formed a brigade
- Invented light-sensitive curtains
- Went through Years 9 10 and 11 of secondary school
- Got 99% in an A-Level module
- Started stenciling shirts
- Formed a freestyle acapella group.
- Started to go to Anime conventions :D
- Was told that if sarcasm was a GCSE, I'd get an A*
- Discovered there were some that found me attractive :/
Oh yeah, I got better at drawing as well. Whoopie.

- was totally full of angst and no direction in life and with suicidal and self-harming tendencies. Typical angst-filled teenager but my reasons are LEGIT. I never was one of those idiots who make a fashion statement out of pain and angst while they really are upper class or middle class well-off kids. :(
- went to college. Took a year of art foundations. Because of that, my art improved at least 5 times.
- Met this girl.
- Broke up with the bitch.
- took two semesters of media design.
- got disheartened because thats when I began waking up to reality and reality was too much for my fragile mind. I had a bit of a drinking problem because I couldnt take reality.
- found a FT job.
- kept self-educating myself. Trying to learn as much as I possibly can. Obsessively trying to figure out reality.
- got slightly promoted and pay slightly increased.
- No more of the anger at the world and less of the self-centeredness. No more inclination towards stupid, shallow material things. More spiritual. I guess I rose a step above my reptilian brain.
- Still trying to find the meaning of my life on this planet. :)

- Liked to draw, sucked at it
- Made eight page comics about talking food with my friend
- Realized the art was terrible
- Tired imitating comic art
- got half-good at it
- somehow got the msn of a dd member
- started a comic
- changed styles three times, got better
(I also tried manga, but I sucked and still suck at it)
- found out that the writer was not writing anymore
- had basically no life after all the hard work on first comic, sought out a purpose
- teamed up with guy on forums looking for an artist a long time ago with no replies
- started drawing and improving again
- tried getting more involved in community projects
- saw a thread named "Time flies when you are creating your comic"
- posted.

Tried posting to this thread yesterday, but found to my horror that I had been BANNED!!!! The Horror!!! The shame!!! What did I do?!? Whew, it was just a bug...
Anyway, in reading over all the posts I am almost ashamed at myself. So many of you have grown and blossomed. Your work has flowered and you have become financially/professionally successful. Makes me feel like a hack, I guess. I love making my comic--I enjoy the small following I have. I have no desire to stop, but I wish I knew the magic formula that people can sometimes tap into which makes their work just suddenly blow off the charts.
I guess I have to settle for being a workingman comic...just plugging along, posting regularly. Hey, at least I love doing it, and that is all that really matters.
And yes, time has flown. I have been a proud member since February 2007. I now have five comic issues published and one 152 page Graphic novel. My story is perhaps 5% finished. Wish I could work faster (must make more pages faster...) but quality cannot suffer. So onward to another issue and another speedy year on DD.

i have to agree with ipokino, there are tons of amazing stories here, and i'm just like "yeah so i started a webcomic..." "i put on my cloak and wizard's hat"...
anyway.
i started my comic in april '07, but really i've been drawing silly comics since i was in high school. with the advent of ms paint however, i don't have to "draw". sweet. well not sweet, i like drawing.
started on drunkduck in july '07. i've gradually developed a fan base, which is still nothing impressive in comparison to many on this site, but i love it. i love the fact that on a day 500 people will have gone through my comic, even if it's just to see if i updated... which i suppose is even better. hell, maybe now that i'm trying to be more socially active on this site i'll grow in popularity even more; that'd be pretty cool.
let's see, what else... met a girl, i'm moving to huntington beach in a few months, new job, new start, new everything. except the girl, i think i'll keep her... at this point we've been through too much together to give up :D
ehhmm... that's all i can think of right now. um... here's where i close out with an after school special freeze frame or something.
YEAH!!
anyway.

you know why birds don't write their memoirs? because birds don't lead epic lives, that's why. who'd want to read what a bird does? nobody. that's who.

Started Due East in 2003. Put Due East on Drunk Duck in early May 2007.
After a few months, Due East developed a following of regular readers (fans!)
Since then, I've been hospitalized three times and been to the Emergency Room more times than I care to remember for a complicated medical condition. I've also found tremendous encouragement from family and friends (including quite a few DD friends).
Started the DD community project "Off Hours" in December 2007.
Off Hours has been featured and now has reached 50 pages.
Due East has had over 100 pages.
I've been interviewed by skoolmunkee (along with 3 other DD artists) about plus-sized characters in webcomics.
Due East has been nominated for Best Spiritual Comic and Most Profound Comic in the 2008 Drunk Duck Awards.
Off Hours has been nominated for Best Community Project in the 2008 Drunk Duck awards.
Wow, lots can happen in a year... :)

Created Pinky and Cc in 1997-98 as a narrative painting series. Made my first comic pages in 1998.
Characters and comic pages first on the net in 2000.
Comic when up as an on-going series on DD in 2004.
Time flies...

Hmmm... I've been "doing" comics since I was around 10, but I'll spare you all that and just go with the DD stuff.
-Took awesome class with Ivan Brunetti
-started Because of Ivan as an assignment
-made Memorandum Mori as a final for that class
-asked Riot where the hell is that guy? how to do webcomics, he recommended DD
-posted Memorandum Mori and forgot about it
-got boring job over the summer and started writing Hipsters on a whim
-actually started taking it seriously
-put HHH on hiatus to write the rest of it (I'm up to 60 pages now) and build up a buffer
-started drawing BoI again because my life is insane and I need an outlet
personally:
-went through three roommates
-drank a lot
-had good relationship
-graduated from college
-mother issues from hell
-moved from Chicago to St. Louis
-relationship hell
-worked a lot
-broke up with boy I loved
-still trying to get husband (who broke up with me) to sign divorce papers
-coming to terms with the beauty of temp work
-coming to terms with my past relationships
-collaborating with awesome writer on awesome comic that will hopefully scar people
-drinking a lot of coffee
-looking forward to living alone for a few months
-resisting the urge to fall head-over-heels in love
-enjoying my friends again
-not feeling like 30 is that old.

Wow, this really is a neat idea for a thread :) BTRN started being mirrored on DD in February 2006, and was already running for a while before then, so there's been a lot to happen. So far I have:
-moved to a new house in a new state, and can therefore now officially say that I am not built for Southern heat,
-been through about five personal revelations, and probably four of them involve how I present myself,
-gone nearsighted,
-decided to completely forget that my first 200-odd pages exist, to fight my "must redraw old crappy pages" obsession,
-graduated high school,
-moved to college, detested my dormitory, and moved back out, within the span of 24 hours,
-met some of the most incredible people I've ever met, which is one of those things that nobody else cares about but it notable to me,
-managed to land the one amateur role that single-handedly helped start my pro acting career, and I did it by pure luck,
-and in two weeks I'll be moving back to New York and starting my classes at a trade school.
Nothing really ground breaking, but then again, I'm still young, and pretty comfortable with what I'm doing with myself :)
