Thoughts on the new Captain America.

Captain MAmerica is dead, but there will be a new Captain America to replace him. I think Bucky is gonna be the new Captain America since he has his shield. The new Captain America will be the next big thing for sure. Also, who will be behind the mask of the new Captain America? Let's hope it is the real thing.
Legacyhero and i are doing a Kid Intense/Hero Force crosover which will be a blast. Also, we are teaming up for a Kid Intense movie. Tell me what you think of the crossover and the movie we are teaming up.

They gave the dude a gun, why would Captain America need a gun?
He was doing just fine before.

I hate Alex Ross' design for the new Captain America. The weird glassy sheen on his armour, the pointy chestplate thing that would jab Cap in the crotch if he tried to bend over, and the gun all really turned me off. I think something in the vein of Ultimate Cap would have been preferable.

Captain America's back? D'oh. He should've stayed dead.
Well, from what I can understand Steve Rogers is dead. "Captain America" is just whoever fits into the tights.
Anyway, I like the redesign in the same way that I enjoy seeing online groups redesigning characters. It's pretty cool to see someone reinterpret a character with a more modern design sense, but I'd feel weird seeing it in print. Basically, since this is a new guy, especially with the gun, I feel that Marvel is deliberately trying to make him distinctly different, perhaps uncomfortably so. This wouldn't be the first time that Cap was replaced by an edgier stand-in.

Looks like a lame version of The Phantom. Without the charm...
Meh, they change their designs all the time and people still buy the stuff (less and less though). So is it the evolution of the characters that appeals, or their classic, iconic look?
I think I'd tend to go for classics and icons as opposed to "this years model", but that's just me.

This new version of Cap actually strikes me as a more modern version of USAgent. Y'know, the Cap knock-off who already wears black and carries a gun along with the shield. And looks significantly better than the current Ross design.

This is extremely lame. Even though this is a new person under the mask, realistically that makes no difference; it's just a fine point.
Real point is, they kill off CA to generate a few bucks. Then immediately revamp him and bring him back. Excuse: "Oh it's a different person." Yeah, if he's so different, he wouldn't be trying to be CA.

Well I trust Brubaker's writing. He's been really knocking this stuff out of the park...so really I could see how a new person can be the next Captain America because he could write it as CA is more of a symbol. I don't know, I'm kind of interested in someone else replacing CA

Bucky and Jason Todd. Possibly the only two characters in the entire combined DC/Marvel universes who were ever were allowed to stay dead once they'd bitten the bullet. And now they're both ...
Gaaah! These guys deserve to lose sales!

A WW2 fighter pilot, a First Century warrior queen and a prehistoric shaman. Oh, and their tailor. These are not your common-or-garden heroes! [..]

To support Americas fine history in the arms industry?
Because true American heroes can pack heat to?
Because he is willing to KILL to protect American liberty?
I dunno.

I'm usually a big fan of Alex Ross' designs, but this is about as clear a case of fixing what isn't broken as I've seen. The only variant of the Cap costume that was ever any good is the Ultimate Marvel version.

Because he's an AMERICAN. Maybe that's the mentality, anyway. That, or "He's a SOLDIER, SOLDIERS have guns". Yeah, I don't like it either. The only weapon he should have is a shield.
Perhaps he is not a super-powered as the original cap?
I think oz is right, they are going for the Punisher look.
Could be worse though...

I was wondering about that?
But you have to realize even though Bucky's lame he's been written really well!

Bucky's return may be annoying, but at least he didn't turn into a giant bug monster and eat somebody like Jason Todd did...
