I suppose that's true. I can't really tell where creationism starts and so-called "Intellegent Design" starts, though. ;)

Although ID is often used by Christians to push Creationism, the theory itself does not rely on the belief in a Christian God or the nonexistance of evolution. It is possible to believe in both evolution and ID just as it is possible to believe in ID and be Hindu or of some other non-Judeo-Christian denomination. ID often gets a worse rap than it really deserves due to its association with Creationists.

The priest at the parish I go to laughs at creationists. At the first World Youth Day that Benedict XVI hosted, I believe he asked Benedict XVI about what he thinks about the book of Genesis. He said that Benedict XVI told him that it's just a bunch of symbolic stuff, not to be taken seriously.

If the POPE HIMSELF disregards the validity of the creation story, I don't know what will make creationists stop claiming that evolution is false.

Oh well, just another group to poke fun at, like the Flat Earth Society.

Creationists generally aren't Catholic, so why would they listen to the pope?

I.D. is not a theory. Because when you say "theory," what you really mean is "scientific theory." I.D. has no scientific basis. It's all pseudo-science snake oil.

Layppl throw around the word "theory" without understanding what it means. It's not meant to be used as a general term when you are talking about science.
