I was just sitting at work the other day zoning out and thinking about writing a story. something scary, with dark humor. could anyone offer ideas for the storyline?

Sit down. Write down as many standard horror plots as possible. But try to describe each in one word.
Example:
Vampire
Zombie
Alien
Killer
Ghost
Mummy
Werewolf
Now, choose one.
Killer
Now, think about this concept. What could make it creepier?
Killer without a face.
Once you have your basic concept down, you can work on creating the characters, specific plot points, etc.
