Cosplayers have always been a conflicting thing for me.
I love watching people make a total ass of him/her self. But it also shows the degredation of the human race. Which always pains me.

How does it degrade someone's humanity? Who gives a fuck if they want to dress wierd for a bit. It doesn't really hurt anyone.

I think he was being facetious. But in the words of Hawk: "MORE SKIN FTW!"

maybe I'd dress like a girl for one fucking day in a cosplay... for a price that is. I'd do it for $10,000. :)

The urge for someone to forget about real life and degrade into dressing up like a tenticle raping monster is kind of messed up. I've been to a few Cons myself and i thought it was innocent...until i saw a tenticle monster chaseing around a young girl who was not in on the joke.
Now not all cosplayers are a brain fuck, but i think theirs something slighty off with someone who wants to dress up as a women when they have a...object dangling between their legs that proves they are not.
Or the before mentioned tenticle guy, i think it was a guy. I couldn't tell. But one of the best moments of my life is when i saw him get beaten by billy clubs by cops. Oh that was rich.
And the thought these people are getting praise for looking like total asses is amazing in itself. "Wow you can look like a guy with a bad haircut! let me take your picture!"
Its funny. Maybe for my next con i go to i will dress up like a KKK member, but i will do it "real good like" and i will have my picture taken. Thats how it works right?

So, one person acts like an ass and EVERYONE is a rapist now? I can assure you that at most Cons, that sort of activity would get you banned for life. You must be one of those guys who think anime is nothing but tentacle sex and kiddy porn.

You just lost all credibility right there. What the fuck is wrong with crossdressing? Does it hurt you? Does it make you feel insecure about your sexuality?
Someone

Again, that sort of activity gets punished. So why are you fucking worrying about it?
Someone

No, I am.

It's not about looking like an ass. It's about dressing up as their favorite characters, if only for a little bit. It's utterly harmless, and the fact that you are willing to debate something that hurts noone shows how pathetic you are.

I say go for it. Just make sure we get to see the pictures of a bunch of black dudes kicking the shit out of you for being a dumbass.

Cosplayers are entertainment. You never know what exaggerated get-up they'll come up with. Plus, they make great ambassadors of their respective favorite comic book heroes! And mascots don't come cheap!

Try not to get personal Penguin and Rich! Rich, Penguin might be suffering a bit of post traumatic stress disorder there after his time in Iraq, so maybe cut him a little bit of slack? Keep up the debate, but keep it friendly.

Nah, i didn't have to fight any weird kids dressed up as Goku in Iraq. but That would have been a little entertaining...
Rich is getting really hot on this haha. I'm just kidding around..for the most part.
And i do watch anime so i know its not all rape with odd objects.

Cosplay is a person expressing a love for that comic/anime/manga and character/s.
What you're suggesting could be applied to anything. It's like saying: "Why do people decorate a tree on Christmas?"
Con's would not be con's without Cosplayers. If you have an excuse to dress up, by god DO IT.
The world does not revolve around you. SO many people like Cosplay--just seeing people at Con's admiring eachothers outfits and laughing makes the whole con. worth going to. It's SOOO much fun to just sit and watch the cosplayers. If you have such a problem with Cosplay don't bother going to conventions. People shouldn't stop what they love just because you seem to think Cosplayers get too much attention. If you can't enjoy con.'s for what they are (includes Cosplay) than maybe you should try rethinking if you even want to bother.
Con's are no fun without the love and support of the comics/anime love and support. And what better way to support ones favorite comic/show than to dress as them and join in a place dedicated to enjoying and supporting the shows and comics you love?
Get your head out of your butt and take a step back. Think of a con. without cosplay. It would be boring the flavor and feel of the convention would drop. Cosplay helps people see the light.
