I was drawing something in my art class one time and some guy was like "Oh wow, that's amazing!" and I was like, "Thanks!" Turned out he was actually talking about my friend drawing next to me. He looks at what I was working on and was like
"I'd stick with doodles if I were you, because that shit is just sad to look at."
That was the worst criticism I got for my art. For my comic on the other hand, worst criticism I got was one of my friends telling me to simply give up. Oh well.

Corn Town I think you've got confused.
This place is for WORST criticism.
What you just described is the most awesome criticism I've ever heard a comic received!
If you want to read some BAD criticism, check out what they say about my comic on TVtropes-
TVtropes
•So Bad It's Horrible: From the incredibly static-looking action scenes, to the basic and monotonous plot, to the poor art quality, to the walls of text slowing the pace to a crawl, many find it difficult to read without wincing or cackling with delight. As always, Your Mileage May Vary.
Ow, my pride!
I gave up trusting tvtropes opinions about quality of anything after giant edit war about description of a writer with some hater, who didn't liked said writer's run run on his favorite comics, and was constantly deleting everything that was describing any of his works as anything more than piece of shit and himself any other way than "hellspawn of Christoper Paolini and Yosuki Tomino". They banned both me and him 3 times, before we settled this (Ok, my bad English was another reson). And trope still loks like if dude eaten somebody's kitty.

They're not properly started after over three years of trying to kick them off.

Actually, I have a new worse criticism to share. It involved showing someone my webcomic.
And they subsequently refusing to talk to me any further. :(

'It's not art.
It's very cartoony.'
Not my webcomic currently but other earlier efforts I've included in a portfolio for college interviews. I took it for an interview for an animation degree and absolutely slaved over my protfolio and storyboard interview task for weeks as well as my highschool work.
Then on interview day they looked at what I'd brought, basically flipped through it without paused and replied.
'Hmm, it's mostly cartoons in here.'
...uh...well yes I mostly brought along my comic and animation-based work with a bit of painting, modelling and photography as you'd think narration and scenes and such would be more relevant than acrylic painting of bowls of fruit.
But apparently this made me non-artistic.
On the other hand another college I mentioned my webcomic work to accepted me immediately and I'm a year into the course, so I can't complain too much...it just comes across as rather dismissive to me. I could take it if they were saying it wasn't too well drawn and such, but hardly even glancing at it because they were comic pages on a course where you'd think they'd want that sort of thing seems rather unfair to me.
Though apparently no studios hire from there, so I guess I got a lucky escape.

I've gotten some criticisms with my old comic. Mostly in the visual department and how they were eyesores and whatnot. I also got reamed on the storyline once or twice. Oh well, you live and you learn.

*Everything is happening too quickly. Characters are springing out of nowhere, relationships are developing very suddenly, and maybe it'll flow better in pictures, but it isn't flowing well for me.
*In my own crossover, I've tried to be careful as regards how I tie the divergent characters together - I wanted to make it as seamless and plausible as I could. However, it seems a little more forced and random in this one.
Worst one I ever got, even though it doesn't sound very bad. This is because it comes from a fanfic writer whose work I liked, and whose advice I actually sought via contacting him by email. He was writing a great fanfic centering on a character who is also a main chara in my FIGHT 2.
He didn't read my comic; he read my entire script. So I can't say that his criticisms are because my comics plot hasn't gotten past arc #1 yet.
However, this was long ago, with a skeleton script. Since then, I've kept his opinions in mind, and been really beefing up the numerous inter-character relationships and how it all ties into the plot progression.
This was actually the smallest part of the critique email. Most of it was us debating back-and-forth on Roman Britain history and the Eldar in Warhammer 40,000... because I have characters from those sources. Man, those fussy Brits...

Worst I ever got was this;
I'd go on to countermand this review if it weren't spot on at the time it was written. There is no real writing to TWN. Period. That's not what the comic is about, because that's not what it's about. It's about random, unsorted violence. That is all. And, of course, my art style is in dire need of improvement. That's a fact. Some of the issues he mentioned had already been addressed, but if he disliked it that much, I can see why he wouldn't have read past the first 20 or 30 pages.
My second worst criticism was years ago by a friend of mine. I showed him a picture and he didn't even hesitate. "This is terrible. The proportions are all wrong and their heads are too big. I mean look at it! Don't you watch enough anime to know how to do this right?" That hurt so much that I can remember it word for word now, five years later.
Two weeks notice...
There's not much to say, other than don't bother reading it, unless you play video games and love constant and pointless violence 24/7.
The artwork is poorly done. It has some potential, but as numerous reviews have already noted the whole 'one eye', or in some cases 'no eyes' looks seem like a lack of understanding on how to draw as a artist. In many cases the artist does show that he can draw well through, such as they many fight scenes, in which the poses are draw well at least. Overall, it seems like a poor attempt to do average looking anime.
The writing is even worse, because there is none. There is no direction, and no characters are developed. There are practically no relationships between characters, and the characters don't develop. Maybe this is meant to be a comedic strip, but honestly it didn't get more than a chuckle out of me at the most.
Overall, I will not recommend this to anyone with a brain, or even half a brain. 4/10.

I love your honesty there. Too many take things too much to heart, I know it is hard not to but be realistic. Many of us aren't great writers or artists.
I haven't had any criticism I haven't agreed with. Beyond stiff dialogue no one has criticised my writing which I find amazing as I consider myself and artist first and foremost even though I am new(ish) to comicking.

Nowadays, my rantings get more criticism than my art or story. My author's notes sometimes double up as a blog.
I apparently get called a weirdo because:
1) In one rant, I said that if someone will break into my house or try to physically attack me... that I'm basically gonna fight back. That is weird apparently. What should I do then? Call 9-1-1 and 10 mins later the cops arrive to see my dead body? Even the tamest dog will bite back if you corner it and beat it with a stick. Self-defence is weird then. I hate it how we've all been trained to be domesticated sheep.
One time back when I was seeing a psychiatrist for depression issues (2005 or so), I mentioned somewhere that a REAL MAN should know how to fight and at least know how to be a basic handyman. He was like... "Where did you learn that macho attitude?" Me? Macho? I'm just an average guy. If I were macho, I wouldn't be posting in this forum. I'd be an MMA fighter or boxer or something if I was really "macho". No wonder the women go for the "bad boys" (then end up brokenhearted and becoming feminists) because its only those types of men who still know how to behave like a real man... unfortunately. :(
2) I talk about the New World Order and sometimes I make an attempt to break down the brainwashing they shove down our throats via movies, anime, etc. What "conspiracy theory"? The PNAC document, NSSM 200, MIAC report, Eco-Science book, Climategate emails, Bilderberg, cameras everywhere, militarized police, increased taxation, etc... DO EXIST.
Not that I think its bad being called a weirdo cuz of those two things. I actually think its an indicator that I'm a normal person.
And then... I can't help but get tangled up in mini-debates (mostly via pm or email) because of some things I say in my author's notes. Its usually those who agree with 80-90% of what I say but insist on making a big stink about the 10-20% they disagree with me on.

I think the problem there is the use of the term "REAL MAN" everyone should be capable of standing up for themselves and others, but let's face it many people can't. I have the problem that I absolutely can't not stand up for myself regardless of the dangers.
Someone pulls a knife on me I will take it from them and break their arm or at least try to.
A year or so back I was walking home slightly drunk and a prostitute tried getting my business, I tried politley declining but she was persistant and kept trying and trying, stepping in front of me to try to get me to stop trying to grope me and so on. I eventually picked her up and put her aside, so she starts shouting that I owe her money because she touched me up. Two guys get out of a near by car and try to force me into giving her and them all my money.
Fortunately I'm capable of handling myself so I was OK, but it could have gone very differently.

Worst ones?
For Wolf's beginning it was 'Fix the lettering' (rightly so)
And then I got "You don't draw any fingernails on your characters!" O.o
Yeah that's more or less it.
Without Moonlight doesn't have any criticisms yet.

People always tell me my anatomy needs work. Well I've worked really hard to fix that over the years and I haven't heard it in a while but I haven't been postin in a longtime either. My characters still don't have fourheads tho. Seems like a strange thing to not be able to draw but they're just not there.
Dude I'll totally do that. Harko you come and insult me and get things goin.

Am I the only person that would like to see a "Insult the comic about you as harshly as you can" thread?
After all, it wouldn't be unpleasent since you would only get insulted if you chose to insult someone else. Its like karma. If everyone is nice then no one would post on it...but some people wouldn't be able to help themselves!

Most recent criticism that was bad in my opinion?
Ok, this person looked at one page of Quest For Zanvadas, and came to the conclusion that I am not good at drawing. They saw one page, which I had worked really hard on XD
I was a little put off, to be quite honest! lol.

Besides the "that's good, but it's not real art....can't you draw something real for once?" I got all the time in art classes for being a manga artist? Or even the similar things that got thrown at me when I tried my hand at surrealism...which, hey, was totally a topic covered in class.
Well, I've never actually had someone be a jerk and say my art was bad. Sure I get a lot of crit, but I don't think that's the same, because crit is at least trying to help you grow into a better artist.
Once I had my uncle come up behind me while I was working on a drawing and say "that's disgusting" and nothing else when he saw it. BUT it was a picture of a girl holding a severed hand, very detailed on the gore, so yeah....technically it WAS disgusting.
The only thing that really hurts me though is when people ignore my art in sort of a "Whatever I don't care" routine. I tried to show my art to my cousin several times, and each time she either raised her eyebrows or shrugged. And I was like...
Ow.

Worst criticism I ever got was a review where they said it had no story and got so into ragging on it that they almost started ragging on the art then caught themselves and admitted the art was good. hehehe

I've been raged at for not taking every suggestion that comes along on every place I take them from. Which would be like, a couple dozen pages worth of doing nothing useful.
This came from a guy that was constantly suggesting rape and drug abuse, so I didn't take him that seriously.
As for my art, I haven't gotten anything in the way of hatefulness, just a few complaints about static poses. I guess my style just has a wider appeal or something.
