Anyone willing to try this out on their characters? This would certainly takes a long time to complete.

I think it probably works better for prose/stories and/or fantasy, but I did it for my three main characters just to see.
Kaida: 8 (even with her amnesia, lol)
Seiko: 15
Yuki: 8

LOL 72 for the blonde chick.
I wonder if this score climbed higher since the last version of the litmus test...
Wow, 24 for the cowardly cyborg.
He's the most un-Sue character I have in my arsenal, and this is what I get? Phooie.

Some definite Sue-like tendancies here. A little polishing might be in order to put original fiction and RPG characters back into the balance, especially if Kirking is involved. Fanfiction characters should probably have some work done.

Yup. Just One, but that's because only about three applied to her and she got a few de-suifiers.
Heck, I really don't see much point in this. ANYONE can claim to be a good character designer because that's one of the easiest parts of story writing. I have some incredibly detailed characters that I have been creating for years.
However, they really don't have anything to DO, and that's the difficult part of writing anything.

I did a few for the one I'm working on that's going to be up really soon, maybe even before I'm seventy. Funny, the minor lacky character who gets literally no speaking appearances at all got twenty three, whereas the major villain scored minus three and the hero received zero.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

Oh crap - Nicodemus got 30 points. :( Mind you, he gained most of those points on his name (which is unusual, was inspired by a character from The Secret of Nimh, and is something he chose himself), on his unusual appearance, and on bits of his backstory.
He doesn't behave like a Sue - there's no get-out-of-jail free card for him, and he suffers from a crippling shyness, he's a bit of a coward and often gets into trouble he can't get out of on his own.
.... Lexie got a -2. But I suppose that's what she gets for being the "normal" one.
Aaaaand - Colin got an 8.
Now, I'll go run my original fiction characters through this, just for fun.

This time Sally got an 86 When did they add these DE-Suifiers? Darn it she isn't super sue anymore... they figured out my plan!
Fenny got a 39 I don't want her being a mary sue, just Sally.... darn it...
EDIT2: Ugh my future main character got a 66. That stupid "upcoming new character" section did him in.

Creature scored the highest at 19, the "unusual eyes" question always gets him! Creature has five compound eyes, that's pretty unusual.
Cricket and Mr. Prescott both tied at 16. I though Mr. Prescott's score was pretty high for a character with no first name. The De-Sue-ifiers dropped Cricket's score quite a bit.
Madeline Strange ended up with 10.
"Mr. Niceguy" Ollie scored the lowest of any of my characters with an 8.
These tests are fun!

A lot of the Mary Sue syndrome lies in the writing of said character, and not in the individual traits of him/her/neutral - through the "mood ring eyes" (eyes that change colour depending on mood) and the "so pretty it's practically a disability!" are definite warning signs.
I just came back and ran some of my original characters through the test.
Shanka - a former hired killer turned soldier, who has an unusual eye-colour and is possessed by a wandering spirit - got 24. I expected that. >.> Mind you, he is also cruel, lazy, somewhere between 35-40 years old and looks his age, and selfish to the nth degree.
Shihan - warlord, son of nobility, pretty calm and settled guy - got only 8. Probably because he isn't possessed by a wandering spirit and doesn't have weird eyes.
Junko - a minor noblewoman/sort-of-servant to a higher-up noblewoman - got -3. Because she's ugly, and petty and lazy.
It seems my female characters are less Sueish than my male characters. I wonder what that is all about...

um...this test is quite silly.
I mean, what question doesn't apply to the characters or could be interpreted to your characters?
Does your character like to eat?
Does your character use deodorant?
Does you character play sports?
Does your character have fetishes?
Does your character wear women's clothing?
Does your character pee sitting down?
...
I'm serious, trends change and similarities among characters will always be.
Nothing is original.

Dominik: 11 (Eh. I'll have to think about him more...hmmm)
Tobias: 18 (*pets Tobias*)
August: 7 (A bit surprised really...)
Hmm...I'll take this as the test saying all my main characters are boring. XD

This test I noticed is villainist.
It seems to portray the hero as such an unlikeable character.
I've noticed that villains and minor characters scored lower points.

Not entirely true...
Fudo got a 42. He's a villain (mostly).
However, minor characters score lower. Any character with fewer details about their personality, past, family, and anything else will score lower because the bulk of the test is: "If you have any mention of this trait/history/attribute, add points." -- I'm not sure if the problem is the test itself or the concept behind it.

Mr. Prescott also tied with the heroine at 16, despite being both a villain and a sort of minor character, (he's yet to have any speaking lines and has thus far made two appearances.) By the way Eunice, what did your characters score on this test?

By the way Eunice, what did your characters score on this test?
One of my main characters scored around 16. I didn't expect my main character to be not so Sue-like. I guess it's because my comic theme is sci-fi comedy and my main character is partly antagonist.
I notice that characters under fantasy drama theme tends to score higher in this test.

Whoa~ I'm surprised my Angela only scored 33. I thought she'd be way up there. But I gave her alot of flaws to get away from this syndrome even when I didn't know what it was :P
Marissa (the true main character) got a 1. o_O
She has issues...
No one else is developed enough (in the comic) to rate, but this was interesting.

I love taking the Sue test =) But even if I like it, I always end up scoring low on it, because a lot of the questions are fantasy story-related (flying, spellcastic, telepaty, different species etc) or just plain cliches that I avoid like the plague (one character kicking more ass than the other, terribly tragic pasts, naming characters after myself or basing a character's appearance after myself...).
The nickname question at the very beginning always trips me up. It says "cool nickname", and while a lot of my characters are addressed my nicknames, I wouldn't call them "cool" so much as I would "typical". I mean, my lead Jennifer is addressed by Jen or Jenny most the time! Julie's full first name is Juliana, but I wouldn't say any of those are really cool, so far as nicknames go ^^;
I check it anyway, because I need something to check >>; BTRN has like twenty characters, so here's the more main ones:
Jenny: 5 (the whole her-dying thing kind of brought that up...)
Julie: 1 (which surprised me; I felt like I checked a lotta boxes o.o It's those de-Sueifiers...)
Conan: 3 (6 without de-Sueifiers. That role-model question brought that one up.)
Hugh: -1 (2 without de-Sueifiers. It was like the de-Sueifiers were made for him...)
Bjel: 1 (5 without de-Sueifiers. I thought it'd be a lot more than that, with the whole freakishly-tall, poor-as-dirt thing...)
And now I'm just sick of reading the same questions over and over again ^^;

oh, i SO wish i could apply this to my comic!
but since the questions obviously aren't made to be about dogies,
(i did it for orthros anyways and got -5 because so many of the questions didn't apply!)
i also did it for characters from a comic i'm working on a buffer for, but that i haven't started posting yet :)
my main character got 12
secondary main character got 2.
don't particularly know why i bothered to put that up there, nobody knows who i'm talking about!
not yet, anyways!
hahahaha, what a waste of time. i had fun doing that
:)

Hmmm... I find that Mary Sue tests are usually directed to fantasy worlds.
The main character for my current comic scored 12 (thanks to the de-Suifiers) but I think it's because she's from a modern reality setting. I mean, I personally believe she's close to being a Mary-Sue. D=
Thanks for the test though. I'll do it with my next comic, which has fantasy in it.

From Tengu Arm:
Riberato: 26
Kaguya: 22
Also, how is Antisocial personality disorder a sue-ish quality? I wasn't aware Mary Sue's were sociopaths.
If the person who made the test got it confused with something else, then Kaguya is only a 21.

(bumps thread because litums tests are fun and everyone should do them and keep them in mind while doing fantasy) Lessee here... I'm writing fantasy, mainly about a group of people who specifically DO have magic, which makes it commonplace. However, just to be fair, I'll check the respective ability off even though most of my characters and a lot of NPCs have similar abilities, meaning that having telekinesis is not suddenly an advantage...
It's worth mentioning I am doing SOME typical fantasy junk. Elves, magic, pointy ears, bishies, the whole rot. So yeah, I should have really Sueish characters, RIGHT?
Dayun. Bluehaired bishie, grouch who doesn't really get along with anyone. 5. Nine if I poke the 'magic in a universe where it's abnormal' button.
Gabriel. Redhead, has some Marty Stu characteristics that were NOT on this freaking list. 15. Should probably be higher, though I bet no one would notice... I clicked the 'powers that could take out an army' button even though he can't actually use them to take out an army... seeing as the army he'd be against is immune to most powers... I did mention that having magic in my story was not necessarily a huge advantage. ^_^
Talnaver: Originated as a Mary Sue of DEATH. Was toned down over four years of writing her and since half of the Mary Sue elements of her past no longer exist... 21. There was a point where she was far worse. However, she still looks like me.
Shay. Elf chick princess dressed up as a guy who ran away from home with rebellious princess syndrome yeah not kidding here... 19.
Raiyn: Traumatic past, sexy clothes, etc... 19. Checked this...
Even though it's not undeservingly despised and it's because she has uncontrollable 'special powers' that cause noticable effects on anyone in close contact with her.
Avante: Elf villain guy. I don't want him to be Marty Stu, but everyone LOVES him, which is kind of creepy. o_O 19.
Alas, many of the questions do not apply. I know that my characters... and I have many moooore of them... are within reason for their setting, though a Mary Sue test will say otherwise. For example, Raiyn has the obligatory Mary Sue ran away from home was physically abused lived on the streets for a long time until she was SAVED past... however, she would've been unbelievable if she wouldn't have... and it's the past, no angst. >.> I know that Shay is most definately a Mary Sue, stupid modifiers, it's not my fault that I poke fun at their flaws and overall treat my characters badly! Alas, it is not a perfect test. I'm sick of reading it and I'll leave it with those characters. Alas, so many questions on it are simply not really applicable to webcomics... more directed at fanficcers, but aye.
And let's face it, there's more to Sues than these sort of traits. Sometimes there are reasonable reasons for it. But for a directed-at-fantasy-drama-ish test... that I've taken many times before... they scored a lot lower than I thought they would. Especially Raiyn, with her traumatic past and Shay with her rebellious princess spitfire personality odd eyes syndrome. Generally, if you're keeping in mind 'I want a believable, non-Mary Sue' you should be all right, even if your character has unusual marks or magic in a non-magical universe or whatever.
Glad to see so many not-so-Sue characters on this list of posting! Someone ought to make a webcomic one, though, because comics simply can't convert to a list made mainly for fantasy fiction/fanfiction. Fiction being the key word here... heh. Fun times, I used to love running my characters through tests. ^_^
