I'm pretty sure by now most of you know about this new iteration of young Peter Parker. It's due to release March 8th on Kids WB.

Honestly, the only reason I will actually look at the show is because I know the artist.

So what about you? What do you think of it (from what you've seen/heard)? Will you watch it or not?

Maybe. But I won't be on the edge of my seat. It's like a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake.

We're not the target audience though. Kiddies haven't been overexposed to Spidey's tired old story (enough) yet.

I'll probably give it a look, but Spider-Man has never really been one my favourites.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

You should, even though it most likely will be 'kiddified' for the younger viewers.

I'm only watching it because I know the artist, Sean Galloway. Who also did the Hellboy Animated Movies.

Hopefully they won't end it on a cliffhanger like the last Spidey animated series.

I'm sooo damn sick of the Teen Titans animation style. And I'm even more tired of the people that yell at me when I say that. Is it too much to ask that cartoon producers NOT follow a tired, awful formula?

This really isn't a teen titans style. Its a Cheeks style wich is amasing.
I'm looking forward to it, I just hope it's not completly aimed at five year olds.
I want it to appeal to the grown ups the way that Justice League Unlimited did,
still a kids show, but with teeth.

Actually, I noticed the same thing when watching the trailers. By the time the animation studio is done butchering the Cheeks style of the character designs, it all kind of starts to look like every other anime wanna-be cartoon you see these days. Although I didn't draw as many parallels to Teen Titans as I did to Jackie Chan Adventures. I was kind of disappointed to see very little of Cheeks' style in the actual animation. His typical exaggerations and extreme poses are nowhere to be found and everything looks a little stiffer. Cheeks has a very fluid style that just doesn't seem to be translating here. I also prefer his more subdued color pallets to what they're using in the actual cartoon.

I'll probably give the first episode a chance, but I won't be going in with high expectations, particularly with the way things have been going lately with these shows.

From the trailer I didn't care that much for the voice it's kind of high...which is appropriate but still...anyways I like the animation it's fast and it doesn't seem to have that much in common with Teen Titans I actually thought of a little bit more like Batman only with a more carefree attitude. I'm actually ecstatic to see this.

That's no where close to the Teen Titans style. I see no similarities once so ever, the Teen Titans style was more of a hybrid of western-cartoon/anime.

Whoa man. No offense, but I think there may be something wrong with your optics. When I saw the show earlier this morning, I saw Sean's drawing style. I recognized it off the bat and it didn't look like it was 'butchered' to me. And when you say 'anime-wannabe', what exactly do you mean? Don't compare SS with Teen Titans, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that was a whole different team that worked on that show. Two completely different shows.

I didn't have any expectations, it is what it is. I was just delighted to see more of Sean's work in action (loved Hellboy Animated). I liked the first 2 episodes, though I wish they could of used JK Simmons for the voice of Jameson. I believe that The Spectacular Spiderman will have a pretty good run of Kids WB.

I totally agree with you 100%. It did resemble a bit to The Batman to me as well.

isukun does say some things that are a bit over the top so don't mind him...but anyways yeah I just saw the one hour premier, I loved. Though the animation had a few hiccups overall it looked really good. It has this unique look compared to all the other superhero cartoons out there(xcept hellboy, but we know why) I would say it probably looks a bit closer to legion of superheroes. But really I liked how there is a focus on the life of peter parker and that is balanced with being Spider-man. Whenever we get super hero shows we normally have it focused on one ego, and that works most of the time but the fact that Peter Parker is important to being spider-man. Also I like how they're building up towards alot of other villains most notably Dr. Connors can't wait to see what happens to Eddie. Gwen Stacy is in this one and this time we actually get a real Gwen Stacy. The voice acting was done well. I mean I really liked this. So yay! Also Spidey does not speak yiddish(suck it Bendis and your spidey loving obnoxious repeating dialogue...though I love Ultimate Spider-man) yay!

Actually, both series are made by the same company. Without checking the credits, I couldn't be 100% certain, but they are both Sony productions, so in all likelihood, they are coming from the same studio, if not the same animation team.

New production company. Not the same thing. Plus the new production company is just an offshoot of the old one geared towards direct-to-video productions. The Spectacular Spiderman wasn't originally intended for TV, I doubt they'd be willing to dump extra money into a new contract.

In fact, checking up on the Hellboy production blogs looks like the same team that worked on that also worked on The Batman and is now working on The Spectacular Spiderman. The Batman was, not surprisingly, from the same team that worked on Jackie Chan Adventures.

They damn well better have Gwen Stacy in it, and have regular episodes of her and Mary Jane duking it out in a mud pit.

Oh, haven't you watched the premier episode Jalford? Are darling Gwen Stacy was in it, and Mary Jane wasn't even heard of!
Heck, I liked how Mary Jane was even mentioned at all. I think she was in the opening, but not in the show. Gwen Stacy played well at a geeky science nerd, while Peter aksed a cheerlearder out, and ended up getting another one to swon for him. ^_^

In my lifetime i've seen quite a number of TV iterations of spiderman and currently its the 1994 Spiderman which holds the gold. This one has quite a unique spin, which is it doesn't go through the whole process of how peter got bitten (which is a relief) and changes it up quite alot in terms of the story line.
I'm still looking forward to where it goes

Out of the 8 animated series Spidey has been on, the 90s TAS probably had some of the most repetitive animation in it. Even the original 60s series didn't use as much stock footage as that one did.
