I'd post them in a sketch thread, but neither of these qualifies as a sketch... well, one does as it's "sketchy" but it was fully inked.

First, my reimagining of Black Terror. Made him into a "silver surfer"m except he flies around on a giant syringe full of black market drugs and shoots bad guys so high that they collapse beyond the event horizon.

Second, this is the "sketchy" drawing. Testing out a fast drawing style, the original is A4 sized and took about 45 minutes to pencil, ink, scan and edit.

Third, is the first color piece and second reimagining. This time it's Octobriana, an old russian oversexed character. And the only way to topple oversexed females is to go in a "dragqueen" direction. I also made "her" (or him) a leader of an industrial rock band.

And finally fourth, my Philippe Druillet inspired piece. The most detailed of all of these and it took about five hours to do. It's not a total Druillet ripoff, I just went for a specific over the top decorative approach that he used quite often. Also, I'm working on a too small format to achieve the results he does.

All I managed to get on paper is Chaos. The rest was either read at friends' place (or looked through if it's French originals) or read...um... elsewhere.

Seeing a little sample of his art when I was 11 was like someone putting a car battery to my head and jumpstarting my creative braincells. That single panel of Vuzz going through the city towards the camera? It spawned and entire 20 page long fantasy comic. And since I couldn't read French, I ended treating it as some alien language, and thus drawing strange symbols pretending to be text in my other books from that period.

So yeah, he's clearly one of my favs too. And one of my next projects will draw a lot from that influence (once I have an A3 scanner that is).

also, an update to the thread:

Another remake/remodel thingie. This time it's Ivan Brodsky (old pulp character) trying to fix hitler before his dentist arrives. Which unfortunately didn't work :P
