Hm, it's got potential. And not a single 'ohmygawd!' in the entire trailer. I'd like to know more about the supernatural angle.

I'm hungry for a good scary movie... I kind of enjoyed 1408, but it's been a long time since then.

This movie was fantastic. It was kind of off in the subtitling which threw me off a little,
but I actually screamed. They did not rely on gore, and it is a touching story that revolves around the plot more than trying to scare the audience. It was beautiful.

Yeah, I bawled my eyes out at the end of that movie, LOL.

I saw the american preview and from the looks of it it looks promising.
I am definitely looking forward to checking it out.
I loved Pan's Labyrinth and The Devil's Backbone.
Del Toro does a great job of creating a horror story in a horrific historic backdrop.
I'm not sure if The Orphange follows that same plot device but from the looks of it may not need to to be effective.

I liked it a lot, the only complaint I have is the IDIOTS I had to sit with in the theater that kept talking the whole time. "Is this entire movie in Spanish? I don't want to read! Why is it still in Spanish?" and at the end one couple was like "And now I know the entire Spanish language!Tee-hee-duhurrr!" and one couple left halfway through (good riddance!) I had the feeling I was going to have to deal with morons because before the group went into the theater one of the dudes felt the need to inform everyone that he'd just farted. I was a blink away from telling Fartboy and his gaggle of giggling goofballs that their aversion to reading was probably WHY they didn't know it would be in subtitles to begin with!

It's got good atmosphere and it's beautifully shot, but my goodness is it a depressing movie. (Almost as depressing as the waste of brain cells that was happening in the audience.) If you don't have the I.Q. of a dead squirrel and you'd like to see a movie that's not the latest "scary chain-letter!" remake from Japan, you'll probably like this one. Pay attention to the small details though. There's just a few "jump" moments but they don't abuse it like the recent trend has been to do so for the worst of reasons. (I hate that, it's so cheap!)

Overall, I enjoyed it, and I hope that Del Toro and crew can keep producing things of the same caliber but not get too pigeon-holed and become the next Tim Burton or M. Night Shyamalan and start making the same formula of movies. It's no fun when you know exactly what to expect.

I also want to punch people that don't shut up during the movie, unless they're robots!
