Below: I found this photo of a costume that was used on Smallville (for the record, I've never watched the show), and in comparison it looks so much better.

I don't see how the other one is any better apart from the vaguely Centurion style kirtle.
Product Placement
Like it or not, it seems like they're trying to be faithful to the original design, while at the same time trying to appease feminists by making her wear pants.
Product Placement
All in all though, I think this costume is always doomed to look silly in live action territory, as opposed to animation/comic. I mean... most of the stuff the X-men were wearing would have looked utterly ridiculous, had the director wanted to be faithful to the original costumes in the movies.

Aesthetically speaking, I don't know if anything can be done with WW's costume without completely overhauling it. It's simply gaudy and ridiculous looking in most incarnations. Heck, even that revision of her outfit we had on the forum some months ago was pretty awful looking. The centurion skirt isn't terrible here, but it reminds me too much of Xena.
isukunWith all the red and gold I always found it a little Chinese.
I never thought the Wonder Woman outfit made any sense. You're talking about a character derived from Greek mythology who uses an ancient enchanted outfit that for some inexplicable reason not only looks modern, but is American themed despite the fact that it predates America by a few millenia?
lefarceAnd you fit into both those categories so you must love it eh?
Tbut if you think anything in the torso region is bad, you're either gay or a woman.
meemjarThat's a Roman look really. Greeks tended to go for folded linen for the kirtle generally, sometimes leather, but it's really the classic Roman look.
The second photo showing her as a greek warrior is more acceptable!!

The Smallville one at least TRIES to look like something that could believeably be worn by an Amazon warrior, although the actress looks far too bubbly for Wonder Woman.
bravo1102They're not actually. Ever worn pants like that? There's not much you can do comfortably in them.
so the pants are a tad more practical.

In my experience the people those bodices most appeal to is the woman who's wearing them and other women who want to try them out themselves.

I liked the 30's. Most female adventurers wore jodhpurs then, (the original type of joddies, not the stupid tight ones)
isukunYup, but Greek kirtles are almost always folded linen, even when they're wearing a full bronze bell cuirass.
Depends on the depiction. Warriors were more likely to wear armor. Literary references to Amazons do mention breast plates designed around their unique physiology. Artistically, they are often seen wearing mail or studded leather, although the skirt is more Roman in design. Still Roman designs are closer to classic Greek designs than vinyl stripper wear.
bravo1102The Linda carter look was the big bloomer style sports undies. Those are pretty standard gymnastic wear for women everywhere.
Ever wear shorts and hose? The Elizabethan Lord look just wasn't for me even if I did look so mah-velous.
Abt_NihilHa! Not refusing .... just having to limit my DD time due to PC probs!isukunThe WW costume was apparently made for her "mission" in the US. That's the story I've read in several incarnations. I'm far from being a WW expert, but since DAJB refuses to speak up... :P

Abt_NihilYup. In one episode of Smallville, Lois and Clark go to a comic convention and this is the costume Lois wears. I can't remember the name of the character she is meant to be cosplaying (might have been something like "Amazon Princess" ) but, despite being obviously based on WW's outfit, I'm pretty sure it's never described as such in the programme.isukunIt's my fault for not mentioning this in my first post, but supposedly it doesn't depict Wonder Woman, just a WW costume. The description I found stated that this was Lois Lane wearing the WW costume. But again, I've never watched Smallville, so I have no idea.

skoolmunkeeMy sentiments exactly! Which is why I strongly suspect this is either a fake, or just a bit of PR fluff. If the TV series ever happens, the real costume will be nothing like this, I'm sure. It's just too Buck Rogers!
one of those poor-quality "adult halloween" costumes with the metal bits made out of plastic and the fabric some stupid sexy material.

Your little Lefarce fantasyland is a pretty unusual place :)
