will they be a four movie epic? or a random hotch potch of stories and gags?

Personally Im hpoeing for an epic with Fry and leela finally getting ittogether.

Matt Goering is letting nothing go, all I know is that theve been approved as straight to DvD releasees thell be four of them and cartoon network will judge on the sales weather to order new episodes... Im hopefull

all the original cast has signed back on as stated on the Billy West forums

an heres an interview with Matt Goering conferming it.

I'll personally buy every single one of them, knowing that their successful sales are pivotal in the show's return. Plus, when I hear of somebody downloading them, I'll hunt them down and beat them within an inch of their life.

I personally hope it's a three movie epic and one seperate movie. That way we get a little of each.

Is it really up to Cartoon Network to order new episodes? I was under the impression that when FOX let CN have the old episodes, CN wanted to make new ones too, but FOX wouldn't let them. Even now Futurama is one of Adult Swim's shows with the highest ratings, and the DVD sales have been good.

You could buy the DVD box sets in England before you could get them in the US. I don't think they'd cut out a whole market like that, so they'll probably be available.

Personally though, I don't want an epic. One of the things I loved about the show was how fast-paced everything was, that helped make it more funny. Every 10-15 seconds there was something to laugh at. If it were a more serious epic lasting 2-4 movies, I'd be seriously worried about how funny it's going to be. The TV show never took itself too seriously so I'd be extra worried if there was a serious plot (which a multi-movie series would suggest). I'm honestly wondering if a 90-minute movie is even going to be any good, considering things seemed to fit perfectly into 20-minute episodes.

If Fox is willing to bring back a crappy show like Family Guy over the sales of the DVDs. I would buy the DVD movies of Futurama.

I love Futurama. I just love it.

What Myxomatosis said.

I’ve been looking forward to these movies since I first heard the rumors a long while back. Futurama is one of them best shows I’ve ever seen and I’m hopeful that the movies will live up to the high level of humor and storytelling they established in the show.

I'm also doing that other comic "Space Waffles ".
We now have a podcast called The Random Pirate Comics Show!

On it's own, Futurama's gained a cult following. That's the kinda thing that fueled 10 Star Trek films, that Serenity thing, plus 1 or 2 Highlander movies. The Simpsons movie is probably being made because the show's been around for so long, it just needed to make one. Even the Flinstones had to do an obligatory crappy movie.

Just out of pure curiosity, did anyone check out the Futurama Clip featuring Bender and Al Gore in An Inconvienent Truth?

NEWS:

According to a couple of news sites now, Futurama will be coming back to TV in 2008 on Comedy Central with 13 new episodes. (source and source )

This is tremendously good news to fans of the show, though nobody could be blamed for being skeptical since Futurama has been announced "back" by voice actor Billy West, who later told us he was misinformed. This time seems more official, except that gotfuturama.com says we're merely getting the previously announced movies chopped up into episode-sized pieces, not actual new episodes. I've seen nothing to confirm this, though Futurama fans would be just that unlucky.

Whatever these 13 episodes are, we have to wait until 2008 to enjoy them. (unless they really are the movies, then we'll see them on DVD before then).

Hmm, while it is good news (or could be). It is 2008.

By the time the new episodes are on TV, The Stardust Hotel would have been imploded and replaced with a bigger hotel, Vision Gran Turismo 5 would have been released, rumors of the PS4 would have turned up, the PSP2 would be released, Grand Theft Auto 4 would be in stores, and The Space Hotel.

...man.
