Never saw the Matrix Online did you? Looks like a fake trailer to me. It looks like CGI nonsense at that, even if it IS real, I'd say its just another shitty game.

first of all, yeah, it is fake. I geuss I was overeacting when I saw it. and the matrix 4 wouldn't be the same with out neo. and how is the matrix stolen? and how, oh god how, is the title sexual? if you don't respond, I can understand that, but I still HATE YOU.

Lots of people post about movies and entertainment rumours that they think are real, there's no shame in that.
The thing people are saying is sexual is the "re-entered" title... It's a matter of interpretation.

The Matrix was ok. The "reality IS NOT REAL, your life is a computer simulation!" idea was not as original as people thought though... Granted there are a lot more hiest movies and boy/girl romance flicks, but the "fake reality" theme was old hat even before the Matrix came out. The kung-fu moves and stunts were the standard stuff of Hong Kong movies from the past 40 years... The only "new" thing was the slowed down "bullet time", but they weren't the first with that either; it'd been in rock videos and adverts before the appearance in film.

What the Matrix did was bring all the elements together in a nice package to create a blockbuster film. It made money and was a success. That's its main achievement, and the best accolade that any major film can have.

I thought the first matrix was okay, but then I watched the sequel and was bored to tears. I actually stopped watching it, and put something else on. And I rarely give up on a film halfway through watching it. The third, I never even bothered.

The 1st Matrix rocked my breeches. As said, there's nothing new in it. I knew that as I watched it. But what it had was everything in a nice shiny blockbuster live-action package. And it had the coolness. And it told a classic Joseph Campbell story well.

I wonder if Brandon Lee would have made a good Neo. You never know. But I liked Keanu in the role.

The 2nd Matrix was ok... I treated it as a Hong Kong sci-fi kung fu flick, with all the shortcomings of that genre.

The 3rd Matrix was the decider in the "Wachowskis killed Matrix." If it was good, then #2 would have been redeemed. It was ok, but movie #3 in turn waited on its ending... If the ending was good, then movie #3 would have been redeemed. The ending sucked.

Everything was leading up to Neo taking over Smith, and using Smith's virus power in order to make himself the new Machine God. It was so perfect, and even the movie's own slow scenes kept hinting at it. As the Machine God, Neo would sacrifice his own humanity in order to achieve peace between Machines and humans, without either having to destroy the other. And philosophical meanings abound in such a transformation.

But instead, we get the crap I-die-like-Jesus ending, which solved nothing, and we're supposed to believe AI has a sense of honour.
