Who here is going to see The Evil Homer Movie?


Who here is not going to bitch about how they're not going to see it because they think it's just a really long TV episode? And, how many of those people have no soul?

Too busy buying Pokemon Pearl to care.

I've seen it. I enjoyed it alot. Never watched alot of the TV episodes though. It's animated very well.

I'm dragging my little sister kicking and screaming to the theater today so we can see it.

I'm going tonight after work.

Spiderpig alone makes it worth it.

I enjoyed the movie. It had some great parts and lines. Not the best the writers could have done, but it was there. The movie was better than seasons 12 to 18. It was well written and directed. Though, I just wished that some characters had bigger parts. Who ever is complaining about the movie should shut up and just watch it.

Agreed, I prayed that it would be better than some of the recent Simpsons. I just hope that it really is.

What an amazing movie! The writing was brilliant thanks to classic writers such as John Swartzwelder... great story. It was also nice to see David Silverman direct it. The animation was out of this world! Goes to show that people still appreciate hand drawn cartoon movies... even though the CG was breathtaking. Makes Family Guy's CG look like shit (yes i am aware it was a movie). The physical comedy was all there, really had me laughing. It was also nice to see them make fun of FOX and the U.S. Government.

All in all, this is just another worthless opinion on the internet.

The trailer gives the wrong impression. The flim has a good balance of Homer getting hurt and the other type of humor that makes The Simpsons what it is.

Saw it. Liked it! Not that I wanna marry it or anything. I thought there were a couple of moments(in particular the "family" ones)where they could've been pushing the envelope a little more since this was a movie.

Best line: SOMEBODY THROUGH THE GODDAMN BOMB!

I was very pleased to see the writers venture there once more. After all, it was such an iconic image in Bart the Daredevil and quite possibly the first true memory of The Simpsons that showed what the show was truly all about... That it wasn't a Flintstones clone.

I liked this movie. It was alot better than I thought it was gonna be and also it was hilarious. The Spiderpig theme song is great!

all my friends and myself were psyched to see it, and we loved it. Me and my best friend have probably watched every preview like a billion times, to the point where we sang in chorus to the spiderpig song.

Just got done watching it. As a Simpsons fan (born and raised) I was very disappointed. The film really makes you realise how far the show has fallen since it's glory days. Those expecting the sort of dialog driven humor and wit of the older seasons are going to be sorely disappointed. The slapstick "hey lookit me!" attention whore stylings of the more recent seasons take precedence here, and it's a huge let down.

The jokes are more fast paced than in recent years, and some of the did get me laughing out loud. However, those jokes weren't Simpson-esc at all. Homer flipping the bird or Marge yelling "God damn", while hilarious, are painfully out of character.

There were some high points, some really great gags, but many were sullied by political messages that push the creator's opinions, which is something I don't go to a film to see. I chuckled here and there, but after all was said and done, I just felt like going back and watching the older seasons of the show to remind myself why I loved it so much in my youth.

It's a decent film, with some really great points (the sink hole, Grandpa freaking out) and some very low points (Green Day handling the opening theme, rehashed plot lines from the show). It's very give and take. For every bad part, there is a good, and that makes the movie acceptable in my view. I was expecting better, but I was still satisfied enough. However, it's worth noting that they do make some pretty awesome references to old episodes (Springfield gorge), and the animation is beautiful.

Old school Simpsons fans who are expecting old school humor won't find any of that here. It panders to the newer crowd of Simpsons fans. There are highs and lows, and enough to save this film from being down right terrible. A decent flick worth renting. Save your seven dollars though, it's best spent elsewhere.

EDIT: Spider-Pig is not funny. In fact, it's probably the lamest and most armature joke in the whole movie, and quite possibly the entire franchise. I simply don't understand why people like it.

I enjoyed it. It had rehashes of prior elements from the show, but let's see anyone else make it feel fresh after nearly 20 years of constant writing and stories.

The fact it was theatrical allowed for much grander moments. The Bart's doodle scene was very funny and Marge's "throw the goddamn bomb" was excellent.

I also thought the scene with Marge and the wedding tape was actually quite well done, it's nice to see that the writers can still handle moments like that.

The highlight still has to be Ralph's line during the nude Bart scene, or Martin near the end of the movie.

Pull your heads out of your asses, they do that sort of thing all the time, it's a nod to some of the classic moments of the show.

I liked that scene, actually. Those jokes are "for the fans". Homer flipping people off wasn't. Not to say I didn't find that funny, but that's something I expect to see in South Park, not The Simpsons.

Who knows for sure though, I stopped watching after season eight. Considering everything after that accounts for the majority of what the franchise is, maybe a better phrase would be "not for the older fans". It seemed a bit heavy on the slapstick at times. Having just got done watching the episode where Flanders opens a left handed store I can say that I enjoy more of the dialog driven humor that the older episodes had then the glass-dome-end-of-the-world humor that the film had.

I'm not trying to pick fights here... I just feel like lefarce sometimes acts too arrogant. Yes, your opinions are noted but try to respect the opinions of others from time to time. You don't have the answers for all of life's questions and I certainly don't. So chillax, not just for the sake of the forums but for yourself. Geez, you'll live longer.

Last I've heard, telling a joke at someone else's expense isn't the same as swearing at someone. You said yourself you make similar comments at people, the least you could of done was to take it as what it was, a joke, and not flip out.

You could of simply responded with a joke, but 'Go blow yourself, dumbass.' doesn't strike me as repartee, just vitriolic.

Anyway, we've seriously derailed this discussion and I wish to apologize for anyone reading this, I'm to blame, I just didn't like what I saw happen here. So, sorry.

Well, again, my apologies as well. I've gone ahead and removed the posts I've made in this little arguement so I can help clean up some of this pointless bickering so others don't have to sit through it. I dunno if you guys want to either, but I think we at least owe it to others who want to enjoy this thread to move off the subject and get on with things.

In an effort to get the topic back on track, the opening theme was really great up until the Green Day segment. Did anyone else feel that way?

I enjoyed the green day scene, mostly because it was a jab at them and I hate them.

Now back to the main point of this thread.

I've been watching The Simpsons since 3rd grade and I really liked this movie. Despite having low hopes from their past 6-8 seasons, they were all expelled once the movie ended. And I seriously loved that touching scene with the tape, even though Homer and Marge did not have a traditional wedding, but I'm willing to let that go. It reminded me of the softer moments from the earlier episodes such as Maggie's first word, or the Mother Simpson episode. It was definitely worth my $7.50 and I look forward for the sequel.

Still, this will probably in the ranking of one of the funniest films of 2007. Now all we have to do is wait if it'll actually get an Oscar nomination.
