Well, that's the fun part of a lot of consipracy theories. =P The good ones do make just enough sense to make you think "hey, maybe this is possible". Of course, most rational people follow that thought up with a "...naaaaah", but it's still fun, anyway.

Conspiracy theories are non sequiturs by design. The proponents of which will often assume that evidence for something like a flat earth has been suppressed while alternative evidence for a spherical Earth has been manufactured and planted by "Big Gov". All of this is done to hide the fact that there really is no evidence for the conspiracy theorist's claim.

That's not to say that there aren't ever conspiracy theories that turn out to be true. Usually, a conspiracy is uncovered when one of the conspirators makes a mistake or events in history don't line up. That is to say, there must be evidence of the conspiracy itself before a theory can be made. Watergate, for example.

But what psuedo-scientific conspiracy theories do is they take whatever claim they believe, which in this case is the flat earth, and they use that as a basis for saying that there's a conspiracy. In other words, "We believe that the Earth is flat and that the government is trying to cover it up, because the Earth is in fact flat."

It's circular logic, and you'll find it in all sorts of conspiracy mania, such as creationism, 9/11 conspiracy theories, UFO cover-ups, and of course, the literary work of everyone's favorite criminal sociopathic con artist, Kevin Trudeau.

Just tell them they're stupid and leave. It's not worth arguing with them. They're either trolls who are trying to pull your leg or they actually believe it, in which case, no amount of logic is going to sway them. If they can exist in today's society and yet believe in a flat earth, then they're much too stupid to be dealt with.

Arguing with a flat-earther is like watching a bad movie and thinking that it's going stop being bad. Have you ever seen that Richard Jeni routine where he's watching Jaws 4, and the movie is so bad that the stupidity is slapping him in the face. Apply that here. Imagine your own hand slapping you in the face.

See, the flat earth arguments are stupid, because the people who believe it are stupid. *slap, slap* Thus, arguing with them is stupid, because we've already established that logic doesn't work on these people. *slap, slap* But for some reason you keep going, because you think that this is going to get better. *slap slap slap*

Please, PLEASE point out to these dullards that the internet they log onto every night is made possible via an array of satellites, which only works if one supposes a round earth.

You know, I just thought of something! The cable companies must also be in on "the big lie", because their signals supposedly use satellite relays as well. Filthy pig dog lies!

And let us not forget satellite television companies, such as DirectTV. Those liars! There must be a cable going to the house somewhere! ...Unless the satellite subscribers are also in on "the big lie"!

There is no flat earth model that can account for time zones. Heck, if you go by what they believe, the sun shouldn't even set. They think that the map is a disk and that the sun just travels in a big circle up in the sky. Gee, wouldn't the sun always be visible from everwhere on the planet if that was the case?

Heck, the only time there's 24-hour daylight is during the summer months on each of the poles. But according to them, Antarctica doesn't rest on a pole. So when Antarctica has 24-hour daylight, how does that work?

Wait, why am I even pointing this out? You all know this, and it's certainly not going to work on these dumbasses.

Alright, you ranted and raved. It was quite similar to watching a hobo on a street corner preach to random passerby of the world's impending doom.

Ironically, that's how I picture actual FEers.

Ranting was the only way to get it through their skulls. I just typed up a lot, and 80% probably weren't ever smart enough to understand what I said. It's like laughing at a scientist, because your too stupid to understand what he just said.

My questions being answered is constantly changing how the world works! :D

Obviously these guys doesn't watch much of live shows or travel much of the world outside far enough. Don't they know that live broadcasting in Asia is showing night scene while in US it's actually daylight? And everyone knows that when you travel you need to adjust your clock according to time zones either forward or backward.

Best solid proof? Tell them to go webcam chat at noon time with anyone living in Asia or Australia (assuming the person is living in USA) and see if the other party's backdrop is daytime or nighttime. If Earth is really flat, then everyone should've shared the same time zone.
