I have been searching all over the forums for a topic on the DD book, but I haven't found one. I'm just wondering what is going on with the book? One minute, I get emails from people saying that it's coming out soon, the next, I hear they are unsure what's going on. I'm a little concerned about what's going to happen with this book. So does anyone have any insight on this?

I have no idea, actually, but I'll be happy to gently bump this topic back up to the top while I'm here.

I'm in the book, myself. They said that people who contributed to the book could pre-order extra copies of the book for a limited time. I simply asked how. They never got back to me.

I assume that the book will be coming out soon, but I haven't been so hasty as to remove my passive aggressive forum graphic. We ought to start taking bets as to whether or not Drunk Duck Vol. 3 will be released before Duke Nukem Forever. And sadly, that scenario is not nearly as absurd as it sounds.

All I know is that about a month ago they sent out contracts for the contributors to sign saying 'get these back to us as soon as possible!'

But then I talked to Black_Kitty and she said she never got one even though she has stuff in the book so... I dunno.

Well, the part that's maddening is that the book has been "coming out soon" since about mid-2006. The word "soon" has lost its meaning in regard to the book.

I wouldn't mind being told that the book would be delayed indefinitely, but it's been three years of having a carrot dangled in front of our faces. I'm not angry at anyone in particular, mind you, but I hate all this non-disclosure stuff.

I've been talking to Volte6 about it today actually and so far, I was told that the contracts wouldn't affect who's in it and the only person I know of that will not be printed is Cookie. Her sixth page was corrupted and she just wasn't reachable.

I'm sorry I haven't replied much about this. I'm pretty much in the dark as well and I didn't want to keep saying "soon" since I wasn't quite sure anymore what "soon" meant. But I did see the DD book in the DD cam today so I guess "soon" means soon! :D

*wipes her brow* Phew... I was beginning to wonder if I got dropped from the book since I had not recieve a response to my contract issue... I'm assuming every here got an e-mail from PS to hurry and sign the contract and return it to them but I couldnt even get the file to open. I sent 3 e-mails alerting them of my issues but no one has gotten back to me on the subject.

Do I need to resend my pages again? I didn't know if you still had them, BK. I tried contacting the woman who sent me the contract to sign, but I didn't get any response back. I don't even know if they received my signed contract x_x I feel so left in the dark about this.

Too bad we can't just start from scratch since I know everyone's artwork in this book has expired by now ;p (I know mine has)

And yes, I wanted to pre-order a bunch of copies of the book, but I didn't know where to go to do that. There really hasn't been much publicity about the book at all. At least allow people to pre-order the book or something! x_x

Nope there's no need to resend them. I actually have your pages on my computer and I think I even spotted the CD you sent me in my room a few times. They should have your pages too since they made frequent mention to me about Cookie's 6th page and that implies to me that they've been checking.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm a bit in the dark as well but here's my understanding of the situation:

- Contracts should not affect who's in the book.
- They might be aiming for Wizard World LA which is happening very soon. Not 100% sure.
- Book was advertised in Preview magazine at one point.
- There are additional contributors put in at the last minute. SpANG and I went around contacting people hoping to stuff as many people as we could into it.

I'm asking about the pre-orders myself. I wasn't sent a contract so I'm kind of in the same boat as Gigi in that I didn't give anything with my signature in it. But was anybody asked for their address?

I wasn't asked for my address in an email, however, there was a place to put your address on the contract, I believe.

Well I don't like being left in the dark like that. I would like to know what they are doing with my artwork...

Interestingly enough, the book title in that blog post actually says "Drunk Duck Anthology Vol 1". Maybe it's a typo. Curiously, there's no Drunk Duck news on the Gigcast this week, which lends credibility to the fact that they actually haven't made an official announcement yet.

Nothing about it on Platinum's site, either.

Apparently, it's coming out this month. I'll just keep waiting. Supposedly, those of us who signed the contract will be getting ten copies each. If I get my copies in the mail, I'll be sure to announce it ASAP.

I signed the contract, as well; but I didn't get any confirmation of whether or not they received my faxed copy. I guess I'll know if they did or not if I end up getting a box of comics in the mail.
I do hope it comes out this month, though.

From what I understand, everyone should be getting copies of the book. The book itself has made it into a physical form.

Okay, someone moved this to the comics discussion forum, even though we're not exactly talking about the actual comics in the book. We were talking about Platinum's habit of not telling us anything. ...Oh, whatever.

So, does anyone know how soon after the release of the book we'll be able to publish our comics ourselves? I think originally it was six months, but there was nothing about that in the contract. I asked Carly this question, but she hasn't gotten back to me at all.

They HAVE been printed. They're physically sitting in the DD office. I'm not sure where you'd buy them though - comic stores aren't likely to have ordered them in because the books weren't advertised, and comic stores don't usually risk buying anthologies. You might have to buy them directly from PS.
