This seamed to be the best place to post this topic, if it is not, then mods, please move it to the proper location.
Monday of this/last week was just an ordinary Monday, with very few things still makeing it stand out from any other Monday; It was the last Monday of the school year, and it also was the start of me updating everyday said week, due to my comic reaching 50 pages. In a slightly happy mood, I noticed an odd named sprite comic that caught my attention. The name made it appear to be some stupid KH parody, that really was beyond stupid. I noticed that it was just the re posting of an entire comic, that was over.
The next day, I was browsing the comic under most read mode( To see how the week of updating helped my score =D) I noticed an odd thing; the sprite comic I noticed yesterday, was quite high in the list, it was about the 4th most read sprite comic, this was odd, but plausible, so I shrugged and thought nothing of it.
Wednesday; my last day of school was the big shocker. When I got home, said sprite comic was #8 on the 10 most read stories! That was bizarre, that isn't possible, in my thoughts. So, I went on with he day, and mentioned it to some of my friends on AIM. We came to a conclusion that it was just some dumb luck for that guy, and it would be back to normal soon.
The next day; however, this comic was #6, that was just... weird, the comics page views couldn't have risen that much, in a single day. By then, I investigated the comic, it seamed to be OK, and if had been updating everyday, and continued to update, then I could see it being high in the ranks, reeching the top 10 stories, but never #6.
Yesterday, was horrible, said comic had risen again was #3. It was the first comic to make into the top 10 stories, and in the same week, it was in the top 5! That was impossible, now I was just about ready to say something about it in the forums, and I spent a large chunk of the day thinking how this happened.
Today, Uck. Said comic was up another 2 spaces at #3. At this rate, DD's most read comic would be the a finished sprite comic.
Call me jealous, a dick, an a-hole, or whatever. even if all that may be true, that isn't right. Many spriters, and comic in general are trying to get that high, and this dude did it, in a f*cking week. There must be something extremely wrong going on around here, and I sure as hope that it is fixed soon.
This is by far my longest forum post here, and will probably be the longest for times to come. I just had to get this ordeal out of my mind, and tell the community(if you haven't noticed yet :P) about it.

EDIT: >< if A mod/admin sees this, could they please edit that?

The 35th most read comic on DD; A sprite comic, that is over, and only uploaded on a single day, WTF?

He may be advertising somewhere outside of DD, that would be my only guess as to how it shot up so fast. A few other comics have done the same thing. Since it's no longer updating, it will probably drop down again after a while. People will only visit and re-read comics they've read before so many times.
My advice is to not worry about it too much and just concentrate on your own comic.

Another factor is probably that there are 137 pages -- all up at once. If someone views the whole thing, thats 137 hits. If they comment on anything, the page will reload, and that's more. When I joined, I uploaded a bunch of pages to start with (trying to get through the very worst of my art), and I had a hit spike (nearly 700) on that day -- partly because people were curious about the new comic and partly because they were looking at all the pages. After that, even with daily updating, the hits were FAR more humble.
Silentkitty is right, a comic that is over (or even on a very long hiatus) will fall in the rankings. (I take it, though, that you aren't really "jealous" as much as concerned at possible cheating. I don't think that has happened, as there are really logical explanations here. ;) )

Listen to SK, she is WISE!
We can't change thread titles... :(
That's Chain of Stuff right? :) Yeah, he's popular somewhere... Or was. I doubt it'll stay there long, but you never know.

Hey there, I know this might be necro posting, but I wanna clear something up.
I am the author of Chain of Stuff (the comic mentioned), and I apologize for what happened. I never intended that the comic would end up on any top # list or whatever. In truth, it was a treat for my long running fans who have been reading my comics for a long time. I would have posted them on my own site, but the guy who owns it didn't want to waste that much space on a finished comic. So I turned here. I figured it would be an easy to access archive. So I put the link onto my website and redirected our 1,000+ hits a day to DD. If I had known it would also be so popular with the people who visit this site currently, I might have turned somewhere else.
Frankly, I agree with you on that it shouldn't have been featured. I will admit I was hoping to gain a few more readers, but for my current running comic, not one that was finished.
However; I do feel like you were calling my abilities into question. I'm sorry that you felt it was unfair that my comic rose to such popularity in such little time, but thinking it doesn't belong because it's a sprite comics? If I did continue it, and it rose again, would you still complain? I think labeling my comic as "Just another stupid KH comic" is unfair to me. I put a lot of effort into that series and try to put out only quality work; and just because I'm finished with it, doesn't mean it doesn't matter to me anymore.
Anyway, I'm getting a bit long winded, which isn't good for a matter that is technically over with (since it's now off the list). If it causes any more problems for anyone, I apologize and will remove it upon request. HOWEVER, please don't make a request of that because "It's just another stupid sprite comic".

Don't you already have that? It's just that it's not on the front page, right?
I thought you can search according to genre and the search results are ranked by numbers viewed, unless you specify the title.
