going away - The Game Room

That game you bought but never played (or played only once)

You know that there is a game you bought but never got around to playing...
Or you DID play the game, but just thought it was boring and never played again.

For me, that game is "Metal Slug Anthropology". My parents bought it because they saw it was four player (our family is starting to fall apart, so they'll buy anything that all of us can do together). I played it and thought it was kind of boring. It's more of a game that you play at the arcade with your friend because there's nothing else to do.

Crimson Tears for PS2. Very 'meh'.

"You tell yourself to just
enjoy the process," he added. "That whether you succeed or fail, win or
lose, it will be fine. You pretend to be Zen. You adopt detachment, and
ironic humor, while secretly praying for a miracle."

Assassin's Creed, actually. From what I played, it was EXCELLENT, but I got absorbed in about 10 other games at the same time. I'll probably get back to it when I'm done with CoD4, Folklore, Disgaea, FFT:WoTL and Uncharted. But until then, I haven't messed with it much.

Not too long ago I bought Toejam & Earl for the Wii virtual console, because I loved the game as a kid. Unfortunately the game just didn't click with any of my friends, and it just plain isn't fun one player, so it's just been sitting there...

Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix for PS2. I always liked the Harry Potter games, which I believed declined after Chamber of Secrets. Thrid was meh, fourth was terrible. I felt maybe the newest one would be different, oh ho ho, no. Waste of my time.

Halo 3 for the xbox 360. I got it 3 days ago and got bored after the first five minutes.

Haven't played it since.

Bionicle Heroes for the DS. I really want to like this game. It's a FPS with Metroid Pirme Hunter-style controls, and it's Bionicle, and since I love Metroid, the DS, and Bionicle, I figured I'd be having a great time with this game. but instead, I don't play it often and when I do, it feels so terribly boring...

Prince of Persia 2 (ps2), First one was great since it was mostly puzzle driven and little or moderate battle, but POP2 was battle driven with LOTS of running against the clock.
The very first thing you see in it is a mindless battle that even on easy it takes TIME to be able to "continue" because just in the beginning your fighting a boss character O_o. only that scene made me quit the game (i wanted it to be similar to POP1) my wife did manage to play like 80% until she just had enuff :P.

Tomb raider 3 for the pc was another one, once you begin your in front of a small river with piranhas circling around, so i just waited for them to go to either the very far left ot right and made a jump, what i found stupid was that merely touching the water the piranhas where already eating me.. so wtf!!!, i just found it so absurd and stupid i never played again ^__^

I also browse on my PSP and PS3. So if I'm online, I may be on them.

You should play it actually. It's pretty awesome.

Anyway, I got Guild Wars, but never played it, if only because I'm not into MMORPGs and my computer is shitty.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. I played it a couple times to be fair but after a couple days of trying and just not clicking I ditched it.

My husband was the same way with that game. And he's an uber-Zelda fan.

You guys are gonna kill me, but....I got Bioshock, and haven't even touched it yet. It could be because I sat and watched my husband play it on his computer before I got to touch it. (He bought it for my wedding present but decided to play it for himself, lol)

You're not alone. I bought Bioshock and didn't even open the package. I'm still playing Mass Effect... :)

To be fair, I prepped myself by re-beating Ocarina AND Mask and started that game and thought, "Did they just remake Ocarina?" It was all way too familiar with noting added. The dungeons were even set up storywise the EXACT same-Forest then Fire then Water. The Wolf combat kinda sucked and I hated Midna. HATED her.

Assassin's Creed, my brother got it so I played it for a while before getting bored. The problem was that the good bits were not worth sitting through the incredibly long periods of boring shit in between.

I got Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow for free when I bought two other used games. I still haven't even put it in my DS yet. I'm sure it'll be kind of fun, but I'm too distracted.

Sidwarrious
and I hated Midna. HATED her.

Dang... she was my favorite part of the game.

I'm waiting for Assassin's Creed to get on PC. IS it not worth it? It looks incredible.

My husband is playing Crysis right now and it looks great.

It's not bad. The gameplay is excellent, it handles wonderfully, the story does the job (not good, but not bad either), and jumping around rooftops, plotting murders etc is great. Basically, the good bits shine like well-polished sunlight.

The cutscenes though, good god, the fucking cutscenes. Every single one of them literally consists of two people standing around talking in dull monotone voices for anything up to an hour (at least, that's how long it felt like). Not to mention the fact they're all unskippable. It's like you're a child, happily playing with blocks or what have you, but every five minutes someone forces you to sit through the board meetings of a styrofoam production company for a few hours before letting you play again.

Or you could just rent it or something.

TL;DR version.
Hey buddy, you should be a Russian Cosmonaut, and here's why.

Mage Knight: Apocalypse.

I have a feeling that you're not supposed to be able to die in the tutorial outside of 'this is how you resurrect'. That, plus having to click multiple times to attack when older RPG games let you click once then continue attacking, made the game boring as hell even BEFORE I got anywhere near finishing the first real quest.

That, and Armies of Exigo. Think Warcraft III with rubbish graphics and more fantasy cliches than one can poke a stick at.

for me that game was atari anthology. i thought it was cool, and which it is, but i find the games funner to play around friends, and the only game i ever play on it any more is the pong games and asteriods and the ones where u have to break the pannels and the ball bounces back and u have to keep blocking it so u get more points and move on, and it gets faster and faster.
