haha - DancingChaos I didn't think you were a girl! XD And as you can see, I totally know how you feel. And I think it is the avatar.

It's totally the avatar. It's how ppl picture you, even though they know it's just a drawn picture or a photo of a celeb.
I didn't mind having no avatar until DD came up with the stupid "head with question mark" avatar if you don't have one. That annoyed me enough to take action.

Everyone thinks I'm a guy.
It's funny, because I'm not offended at all. Hey, does my style look like it's a guy's? Sure, the avatar may trip you up, but I'm not a guy!
But remaining as a complete mystery is kinda cool, actually. I think.
Yea, I kinda thought you were a guy too :o but I was always kinda iffy about your gender :o

hehehe ^^;...as you may've already noticed, it's kinda hard to hide my girliness :s...Even though some parts of my comic The Faction, has some pages that I would concider highly unlikely that a girl would've made it :o Idk, maybe it's just me :s

Heh, I knew you were a girl. No guys names themselves Peipei (Well, not that I know of). I'm kinda hard to figure out, since I say 'dude' and 'man' a lot. Also, when people read my comic, they might think I'm a guy, since I'm basically calling all emo kids pussies. (Well... I really don't hate emo kids. It's so adorable how they get all sad all the time!!!) Also, I mean, my name is 'DancingChaos', which is very anonymous, as well as the Avatar. My avatar's actually a girl. Sure, you might think, 'aw, come on, that can't be a girl!' It's in the storyline, kay?! I write and draw mangas, and that's my favorite of all the ones I wrote! I just didn't put it on DD. Also, I dress like I can kill a person at any given moment, thus the reason why about 5 little old ladies have called me a cretin already. I'm also filled with teen angst! Fun, isn't it? But it doesn't matter how I dress, I shall always love kittens and marshmellows!
...Yeah.
...Yeah.

Very interesting :3 I did not know your avatar was a girl xD Very good that you pointed that out to me xD
Also, you'd be surprised :o I've been called a dude and a guy before even with my name being Peipei and my avatar being womanly xD

Well, isn't THAT interesting? Just kinda... dust them off. Someone will be smart enough to be able to tell :)
Oh, and EVERYONE on the entire forums think my avatar's a dude. That doesn't matter, since it looks like a guy, and they don't even know the storyline for it. But that's cool, I understand that.

DancingChaosYou could still be a boy anyway... It's been known. There are a few heartists who masquerade for the fun of it (or other reasons) and people don't realise. I remember a lot of people were taken in by Marine when he was Princess Jen: he was pretending to be a girl to see what kind of audience he'd get; even I thought he was a girl! But it didn't matter when it turned out to be Marine because the work stood on it's own (in my opinion), and the work was more interesting than the personality.

Then there was Tater Salad, everyone was fooled that he was a girl too! I don't think it mattered much about his art though, because his forum interaction was more fun.
I couldn't point to any gals who actively pretended to be males at the moment... but you'll always find males who do the opposite. ;)

Someone
the work was more interesting than the personality.
I'm not sure if Marine would take that as a compliment.
Tater Salad is a MAN?? Crikey.

Heh! Well the "Princes Jen" personality anyway.
Yep, Tater's a male artist :) There are a few more male heartists that people mistake for femmes, but it's not always deliberate... how about Rich? As Equinox it could have gone either way, but I think that was more from his personality than the work. The ideas expressed and the bated ferocity point to masculinity.
That's another funny thing: people's avatars can really influence how you imagine a person, sometimes overriding most other factors.

My point is that you could be faking if you wanted, even by posting someone else's pics ;)
But I don't think you are. I think your are honest about yourself :)
But the topic here is art, not faking gender lol!

I could tell from Ozone, hpk, and a few others that a male did it. I guess there's a certain subtlety of a trend of styles that one sex typically focus on to some degree as an artist. A well known example for males is the affinity toward defining the muscle on a person, or having masculinity in most drawn females (though that doesn't apply to the aforementioned people in my first sentence). Hell, even Michelangelo did it.
As for the girls, I could tell that eviltwinpixie and blu were female from their drawings. I'd say it's harder to scope out the girls, despite even that sex having an undercurrent of subtle trends going on in their art. Perhaps it's because there are so many widely-recognized male artists to be influenced from, I dunno.
I swear, I never would've thought soo many people here were girls. DancingChaos, for one.

I remembered using a nerd anime character with spiral glasses as an avatar and everyone associate me as a nerd boy.
So now, I'm using using a drawing of an Asian celebrity as an avatar and I'm now being associated as an androgenous guy. Let's see if I switch my avatar and see what reaction would other people get?

yeah, it's a strange phemonemon how people tend to associate you with your avatar... that's probably why some people thought you were a boy, eunice..!! ^^
